I always knew meditation raised the consciousness, but, I didn’t think it literally promoted brain growth, very interesting…


The following was copy and pasted from Atlantis Rising Magazine. November/December 2010

“Meditation can do more than reduce stress and help one stay calm. It can actually strengthen and grow the brain. That is the conclusion of a new study at the University of Oregon.

Chinese and U.S. researchers used a mediation technique called Integrative Body mind training (IBMT) which is based on ancient Chinese medicine, combining posture, mental imagery and body relaxation, and breathing techniques, the practice produced within hours measurable strengthening of the connections between various regions of the brain. The study may have important implications for the treatment of dementia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, and schizophrenia.

For materialistic science, with its commitment to the notion that the brain is the be-all and the end-all of human consciousness, the study offers some hope; but in the end, science may discover that it has crossed a threshold into a world that it did not believe existed. But that is a good thing.”

I knew of this study about 2 years ago in the Internacional Yoga Congress in Switzerland. Several groups of people were engaged in the study. From Budists monks with 20 and more years of meditation pratice to people who just did it for less than a year.

Once you start praticing meditation, at least for 10 m a day, you soon see the results :)
