This ear acupuncture method is used in the treatment of my wife's major depression together with the common depression medication. Sometimes she has headaches and sickness after the treatment.
Does anybody know more about NADA ?
Even if this is an old method on the internet you can find just few general info and no reviews or opinions from pacients.
I have some doubts about it, the treatment is made by a nurse WHO has a very short training course for it!
I had also some acupuncture treatments but from a doctor who has spent some years in Japan to learn it.

Dear Toppy:
I have experience with the acupuncture on the ear. You can find the charts on Internet sites and I think even on Amazon explaining the method. The ear has all the acupuncture points that are in the body. It is like the body is a hologram and all parts mimic the whole. I have had the treatment many times with no ill effects. I would imagine that the medication is more likely to produce side effects. I hope this helps.

I don't think ear acupuncture is terribly different than regular. As with your foot, in reflexology, different points on the ear correspond to different parts of the body.
I don't know what NADA is, but during my traditional acupuncture treatments, I did feel an elevated mood so I can say it does work great.
My feeling about acupuncture is that it should be studied for years and people should work under an apprentice. On the other hand, I had a vet with little training give my cat acupuncture and it saved his life.
I would say go with your gut feeling about this, or actually in this case, go with your wife's gut feelings, she is the one getting the treatment and needs the healing.
And one bad sign about acupuncturist is when the start asking you if they put the needles in the right place. If they don't know without asking, then they are clueless.

Dear Kryztian:
Inexperienced acupuncturists should not treat patients. There is a recognized Medical Acupuncturist Curriculum at most teaching hospitals, just like physician training some are combined medical/alternate medicine degrees. You can find information at most teaching hospitals. I know there is such a program at University of California and one at the University of British Columbia in Canada. I am sure the are many other legitimate schools. This type of medical treatment has been around for aeons. They found evidence of acupuncture sites on the Ice Man found in norther Italy some years ago.
There is plenty of information available and it is a very useful adjunct to medicine. It sometimes works when everything else fails. It is virtually non-invasive and effective.

Auricular treatments, as in any TCM, traditional Chinese medicine, should only be done by someone with experience. If ever you feel bad after a treatment you should tell the practitioner. That is a very bad sign, one of an inexperienced professional.
Also, anti-depressants are quite dangerous. The side effects should always be considered before taking them. Check the strength and overall completeness and absorption of your food and drink intake. It must be noted that if you ever choose to stop taking anti-depressants the process should be completed very slowly, with a minimum of a month taken to ween off of them, concurrent with the gradual increase of vital nutrients and a healthier lifestyle. Whether or not the anti-depressants were taken with a doctor's guidance, they should certainly be slowly removed under the guidance of a qualified physician, preferably with one who has experience in such cases.
There are many common acupuncture treatments that produce a release of endorphins. It is merely this type of treatment, "antiquing", etc., that not only provides a short term release of focus on pain, but allows the innate intelligence and wisdom of the body to heal itself. Truly this is the essence of healing, anything. The channel thru which universal self-love is given it's time, in this space, to work.

reflexology works great for me.
make sure she got all the vitamins and minerals her body needs.
if you lack b vitamins you become suicidal. i did.
when i took b vitamin supplement it was like a switch that turned on.
reflexology is good for restoring balance in the energy body but you need the basics in place. vitamins, minerals, healthy gut, not to much parasites and so on.
do this easy test. massage you ears for 20 min and see if you find relieve.. what ever acupuncture point on thw body can be stimulated with pressure as well.
and by the way.. anti depression did me no good either. amazing it is. health "care" and psyciatry bizz.
all the best to you and your wife.

Hi toppy, I've studied acupressure as a part of my bodywork license, and I'm not familiar with what the term NADA means. I do know that sometimes with ear reflexology a mustard seed is taped to the point instead of needling. I've found it to be effective for myself, although I have gotten a bit of a sore spot. But at least it's removable. If it sounds interesting to you, the acupuncturist would know about it as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
