(I actually replyed with this on another forum...and in my time hadn't seen anything yet related to meditation...so thought i would get something going with it for you all...as i KNOW you all have something great to aid others on this topic ;) )

For me,

When i had 3 separate random teachers all suggest meditation for my next step. I was lucky enough in my city to have a group that was run by a lady who at the time was 99yo. She had been hosting groups for 4-50yrs and many attending had also been 20+yr vets. It was like i was in the movie Cocoon Those old physically who's bodies were wearing out but their will and mental all very much like children too. Being fortunate enough to be a part of such a group really was like an acceleration into those states where you are able to discern your brainwave patterns (alpha, beta, delta, theta etc) and then recharge / heal / get visions etc. The group situation can stimulate your own state development. So you gain that first real confirmation as a reference to build upon. I am very fortunate of the above situation i can assure you also. So explore the group stuff / spiritual shops in your area or the internet. It might be a randomness avenue for even greater things to. Soul group meetups etc.

The EMF nature of our reality now can really hinder it. The inadequate nutrition in our food also. Holding space within can consume quite a bit of energy. Thus, gaining some tools like crystals to increase the frequency in your location is advisable. Especially on your own. I would also gain consultation with a healer too. It can be trauma and blocks which impede it. There can be certain aspects of your present that are on a level you may not be able to perceive preventing you entering meditative state just as you are about to. As, it is a powerful life force conserving way to exist and this reality we all find ourselves members of is designed for us to give our power away constantly on a very subtle way. Emotions etc. Watching news. All designed to trigger such things to then have to experience these states. So, if you can observe such things and not get effected. That can be a good practice also.

I also highly recommend doing something that you enjoy that has a repetitive aspect. I worked in my teens in a fast food hamburger joint. In making 1000s of hamburgers repetitively. It would actually become a trigger to go elsewhere with extreme clarity. Public Transport for me also. This is called Active Meditation. Gardening, knitting...anything like that. You don't need to just sit and cross your legs. Try going into gardens also. My city has a beautiful Japanese Garden. My journey to such a place i instill in me as a pilgrimage also. To set myself up for the state i wish to experience there. Such are recharge or just clarity from the fog thought i have allowed to come over me. Then...on the other side once you master yourself and no longer a passenger...your intuitive aspects will begin to reveal themselves. We all have them. They are the muscles to them work on.

There an many many ways and triggers. I want to be a bit vague as to not set an expectation specific to anything tailored for me on this. But, hopefully you get the idea. Shake yourself up from what you have been doing at go outside what you may have explored. It will be an extremely valid experience to get a handle off.

I hope this offers something worth exploring and continuing. For me now. I live in a meditative state. It is the most efficient way of existence. I feel the emotions willing to rise within me and the triggers. Then i can not suppress but see the driver for the need to enter that limited state from the neutral infinite.

Good luck

Some good points. I usually like to wake up early in the morning and meditate for 45 mins. It calms me down and most of my day goes smoothly. Yesterday, I had a serious meeting where those involved were really tensed. I had a smile and emptiness and calmness within. As you said, detachment or spiritual practice can be done in all acts. I observe my acts and body language a lot. If I start to feel tense, I let go of any feeling.

Second, a holy life brings one closer to realization. In my case, a genuine care for others, honesty and selfless actions are the driving forces. I'm a manager and it's viewed as a post where one controls things. Yet, I've changed that and all my actions are guided towards the emancipation of others.

Third, physical exercise is important. I practise the seven Tibetan healing exercises to balance my chakras. As lord Shiva said, Spirituality is a very hard path. One should be brave and work hard. In my experience, one works hard at the start. Bliss creeps in slowly and we keep getting deeper and deeper in the eternal bliss.

God bless you Friends,
Guish.

Alpha141, you said, "There an many many ways and triggers. I want to be a bit vague as to not set an expectation specific to anything tailored for me on this. But, hopefully you get the idea."

Nevertheless, have you considered posting your valuable youtube site ServantOfTruth https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWO4JRIidOIkCAEUKCvkmXQ/videos in the signature part of all your posts?

You have gathered together some valuable resources and I thank you.

Hi all,

GrannyFranny100 cool name and took your suggestion on board ;)

I also had a very polite PM suggesting this topic is covered in another extensive thread i am yet to really dig into. So it might be well worth it for you if this particular topic is of interest:

There are certainly posts in that thread that cover topics such as how to meditate and what's really going on as one learns, but meditation is a huge and diverse topic, and I don't know if quite a few aspects and issues involved are covered "extensively". Still, certainly more than half the thread is concerned with what one experiences in various higher states of consciousness. And I do consider meditation to be one of the primary forms, and in many ways the central form, of OB experience. When I started that thread,it hadn't occurred to me at all that anyone who wasn't experienced at meditation or contemplation would try to learn to astral travel. After all, how else would they be able to greatly increase their (subtler) energy levels in a controlled way and at will? (Traditionally, I believe OB travel was taught only after the student had some maturity in meditation.) In fact, as I understand Eckankar also teaches, I regard "Soul travel" to simply be any (wholesome) expansion of consciousness. And that the "travel" is all, strictly speaking, ultimately an illusion, occurring because of the process of adjusting to some higher state.

I believe some topics related to meditation have been discussed in the "Enlightenment and related matters" thread. Also by Tony in some of his threads -- though he's no longer around.
