I had read that our part of the country would be getting some snow/rain mix this weekend, but when I got up this morning and opened the blinds, everything was covered with the white fluffy and there is a constant gentle blizzard.
Wow! That's all I can say! :smow:

Snow can be so beautiful, especially the first snowfall of the season, well before we get tired of trying to maneuver in it 24/7 for several months. *L* I hope you don't have to be anywhere today, and that you can cozy down and enjoy the weather. :o
Wait...are you in an area that typically gets snow? :p

Congrats, Snowbird, your season seems to have begun.
And a wow, for the snow, winter allways come as a surprise.
Here, southwest norway, we had some days taste of it
around 20th of october ( very early indeed ):

(two articles from local, national media on the early winter)
- And winter has come and gone twice since that.
Here is a picture from 20.10 (20.oct. in local numbers) :

Here is me and a cat looking west, when it snows at it best :

There is more in the photo-archives ( remember backup, all ).
Will have a look there, and maybe edit in some others here.
The last decade, the transition between seasons ( here it is four )
have been more confused and irregular then in my youth (70s 80s).
But, allways, winter has unrefutable qualities, whens it settles in.
- So have fun with it.
Note to Snowbird.
Your motto is realy lovely, and profoundly funny.
"Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not get bent out of shape."
Guess JC himself would like to include that to the cermon on the mount,
- knowing what he knows now.

- hello, Beth, or anyone who might know.
Is there a place (or water) called Love Lake
in the Minnesota area, you know of ?
A quick search for - " love lake "
turned up this picture :

edit 15.nov:
I ment Michigan, but it came out Minnesota in the post.
- Sorry, Beth. Probably an insult to Michiganians (?)
( Seems Snowbird found one in Minnesota, though.)

Hi noxon medem. There is a Love Lake in Crow Wing County which is right in the middle of the state of Minnesota. I have linked a map below.

Oh Ross, you too?
Guys, I wish I could say that where I live we would have a winter wonderland, but all I'll be having is summer like temps and palm trees decorated with x-mas lights.... :/

Yesterday on Thanksgiving morning, here in the U.S., I once again awoke to yet another winter wonderland. What snow had melted from the first WW was replaced during this storm.
The problem is not the snow, although this is a bit early for this much snow in this part of the country, but it is the very cold temperatures. The temp was 8 degrees and it is now 21 degrees. This is not normal. Winter doesn't officially begin until December 21.

We have snow in some parts of the UK at the moment... you know, global warming's really taking it's toll on the UK -- all that snow.

Folks, this is serious winter weather falling on our cities and state today. It has been blizzarding since six AM and is to continue dumping 1 inch per hour until noon today.
I can't see across the street. :smow:

I am updating this account of this weekend's snowfall because it was so unusual. From early Saturday morning until later in the evening, there occurred a blizzard that dumped between 16.5 and 20.4 inches of snow in the state of Minnesota.
The way this snowfall happened is exactly the snowfall intensity that I have read about that occurs during an ice age. Only during a real ice age, the snowfall never stops. It snows constantly day and night every day and every night. There is no method of keeping the snow cleared. I have read that in certain parts of the world historically, it would snow 9 feet per day every day and bury everything in its path.
I was listening to a short quip of Dr. Bill Deagle yesterday, talking to his guest (whose name I do not recall) and they are concerned about the ocean's loop current causing winters to last until June or July. This does not mean that this will happen nor do I fear this. It is merely something to watch out for. I will be interested to learn just how long the winter here lasts this season.
