She is cute, stylish and has had a number one chart-topping single.
But Japan’s newest and biggest pop star differs from most of her peers in one crucial aspect: she is a hologram.
Hatsune Miku has taken the music scene by storm in her native Japan where her concerts are always sold out and are full of screaming, adoring fans.

Why does this not surprise me? I mean TV was always going to evolve at some point.
How long for a hologram with a good AI behind it to appear?
If Disney get into this technology, it could save them a fortune in mind-control bills for their starlets and subsequent assassination contracts.

I think what amazes me is how there is such a fan fare. Its hard to believe how the audience reacts to the image.

Yeah, I saw something on this the other day... I agree, Celine. It makes me feel a jerk of nausea, too.
What saddens me is the fact that this kind of technology and social conditioning to favor its propagation will only lead to acceptance of it. Can you imagine boarding an airplane at the airport, greeted by a lovely hologram who reminds you to tuck your carry-on securely in the overhead compartment? Or listening to a product promoter at the grocery in the cereal aisle? How many real human jobs could this kind of hologram occupy? A bunch, I bet.
Sigh. So this is the future? Feels more like a new StarTreK series. Not the world I wanna live in.

Indeed, that is what is most surprising about the clip. They all behave like it is a real person on the stage...
Can you imagine then the reactions on something like... let's say "Blue Beam Project" :)?
Anyhow... from now on I will have to hug everybody to make sure they are the real deal

maybe this is why they upgraded red ray dvd tech(first generation dvd was red beam) to blue ray , to train the minds to accept blue beam technology

Japanese are known to be a hyping people. Especially the youth always finds new bizarre trends, gadgets and hypes to forget about the intensely killing life of a Japanese citoyen. Life is cruel, stressful and suicide count is immensely high there. Their society is full of contradictions. They are extremely polite, disciplined and well mannered but on the other hand produce the most revoking, bizarre, surreal and useless products and ideas.
The sight of a hologram is nothing to be afraid of. You have no reason to be xenophobic about it. altough it depens on their functions indeed.
They could be extremely useful as VI (virtual intelligence) as seen in Mass Effect.
They can be activated on demand at several terminals for 24h information inquiry or as interactive configuration to control certian systems.
Our homes could have a hologram to which you can ask to dim the lights, turn off the heating and whatever life control we might have in the future.
