Schenectady County, New York – Earlier this month, a family farm in rural New York was raided by police after the owners were cited on a number of trumped up regulatory violations. Joshua Rockwood, the owner of the farm, is being accused of mistreating his animals, and the local government has began confiscating some of them.

Police initially visited Rockwood’s property on February 25th to investigate reports of unlicensed working dogs, weeks before the raid. Unfortunately, Rockwood voluntarily showed local police around his property, which he had not yet tended to that day because of their unexpected interruption. After showing them around, they began to critically assess every aspect of the farm, writing a number of citations for arbitrary offenses.

The very next day, Rockwood had a veterinarian visit the farm to check on the animals to confirm that they were well taken care of and in good health. According to numerous reports, the vet said that the animals were just fine, and did not seem to share the concerns that the officers alleged during their walk-through.

A second veterinarian was also called in to verify the health of the animals and they also found them to be in perfect health.

A week later, police returned again to notify Rockwood that he was to appear in court the next Thursday on a number of charges relating to the animal’s food and shelter. In total, 12 different charges were brought against Rockwood, but he has posted a number of photos to a Facebook support page, which shows the animals with sufficient housing, and plenty of food.

Rockwood has been charged with 12 counts of animal neglect and abuse – some of the charges relating to frozen water bowls and tanks – despite the animals still having access to water. His dogs and horses have been seized and taken away.

Rockwood treats his animals better than most factory farms do, but since he uses traditional farming methods, his farm will fail regulatory inspections, while factory farms will pass.

Meanwhile, New York is one of many states that are currently considering “ag-gag” laws, which place criminal penalties on activists who expose animal abuse at factory farms.
The controversial ag-gag laws prohibit “recording an image or sound without the operator’s permission; gaining ‘access to an agricultural operation under false pretenses;’ asking for a job at a place for the purpose of making recordings; and making a recording while trespassing.”

The irony here is that the state will lock you in a cage for filming the horrific atrocities at a factory farm while simultaneously trumping up ridiculous and petty violations if you aren’t a factory farm. Just who does the state “protect” by doing these things?

Rockwood has launched a $50,000 gofundme (http://www.gofundme.com/pbp7go) campaign to raise money to post bond for his horses and to pay for the disrupted legal fees and lost business he has incurred and will incur due to the publicity and effort involved in defending himself. He means to go to court to try to fight the charges and to win back his reputation, his rescue dog, and his horses.

Because of his caring and generous customers and supporters they are almost halfway to that goal.

I can't begin to tell you how much this sort of thing enrages me!

It's been happening in Canada too for the past couple of years. They always find an excuse to destroy the free range animals!

I've signed countless petitions in support for these farmers and their free range animals, but petitions don't seem to do anything, other than show support for the farmers.

God f'n' help us if those of us who eat meat, should want to eat the kind of meat that hasn't been medicated, injected, abused, bludgeoned, and lived a lifetime of fear!

those animals must have been happy. Can you imagine drinking the milk of these cows instead of the milk filled with antibiotic and growth hormone!!

the world is truly going crazy. It reminds me of what I had been told of Russians, during the communist regime, who would have communal farms on which nobody would put any efforts because if it were going too well, they would get bugged and harrassed by bureaucrats. So, everybody starved equally (except for the political hierarchy). In America, eveybody is sick equally (except for the very rich who have their own bio farms).

I really do believe it's time to hit them in the pocket and just do veggies, fruit, and root plants with leaves. I can fish and if they haven't robbed every fresh water hole they live in, then I can live, but that's not their plan, eh? Own it all and starve the baby has always been their plan. Like a junkie they feed you sugars and fats and then charge you for their poisons added. I'm sick of it. I really have to go. This is beyond disgusting. If a way out comes, I'm taking it, I've seen some crap today, and man, if I can't get away from it, it's really not worth the time is it? Let one land, I'd rather KNOW who's doing me, than have to be raped and pillaged behind a blindfold.

They shined the color and hate banners and while the crescendo was building, they slipped in plenty of nooses for the average guy, and put the fix on the judiciary where they get off and we get tied to the for profit plantation jail system. This is only the beginning and all those gun toting blowhards farting and burping beer as they put down half a cow's flesh, won't even know when it comes. When the shtf, I want a choice and I will take it. Saving for the send off now. Whether it be tptw because I link or cataclysmic destruction, if the choice comes to leave, I'm so outta here.

I wish I could. My heart is always in the right place, but the money is "never there." So that just makes me feel even worse when something as simple as money can help, and I'm shut out. Seems like the truthful, kind, loving, non-violent, and poor all suffer as the greedy just spin more lies to swallow up all that's left of life. I think I'll boycott. LOL

In the olde days, we said our sad goodbyes to loyal and lovely herd/flock/chicken-run members. It was a scenario that we tried to feed the village, and some of our livestock always fed the village, alongside 3 really vibrant farms, each contributing to the locale and employment. Albeit lambs, chickens, sadly the abatoir (Harry Ward) took my 'farm pets' to slaughter regularly, and if there was a spare turkey or two - we'd all chip in! The other animals just tried to balance out comfiture. Lifebringer - we all need folk like you, so you really have to be there for us, as we are so there for you xx

Herve, what an excellent post !

There is _clearly_ some kind of corruption at work here.
This is really nasty bullying.

Please help us all to register our objections by supplying a URL to
a petition, or the name of the local congressman, or... the URL for
the legal fund etc.

Here's a good idea:
Someone should set up a support fund to collect funds to..... wait for it...
to pay the expenses of a group of vigilante (documentary making).... investigative journalists.

Who's job it would be, to go out, find stories exactly like this...
go establish the facts, get interviews with key people...
... gathering the on-the-ground evidence first, so that the case is undeniable.
And then go asking the people in authority what the reasons are for the harassment.
Unless they're a party to it, they won't have a clue.... but they in their turn will
go asking questions of, for example, police commissioners, sheriffs etc
... especially if someone wants to put them on film.

It would be extremely worthwhile work, both the fund raising aspect and the
investigative journalism aspect. It would look great on your Resume, it might make
you famous. It would almost certainly lead to other opportunities. And you'd
be doing 'real' journalism... and doing good things for the wider community.

I'm sure there are talented people on this forum that could take on such
a project and make a huge success of it. I'm certain there are.

Thanks for your help.

be happy

Alternative medicine crackdown: FDA pushing to regulate Homeopathy out of existence (http://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/fda-pushing-regulate-homeopathy-out-existence1)

Why is there a sudden push by the FDA to label homeopathic remedies as dangerous? Why is there a need to regulate substances that have been used for hundreds of years with out any issues? What does the FDA have to gain?

The FDA has published two documents recently, which suggest that WAR is being declared on the profession of homeopathic medicine - or at least on the manufacture of homeopathic remedies (http://www.greenmedinfo.com/therapeutic-action/homeopathic-treatment), which comes to the same thing in the end. What is a homeopath without homeopathic remedies?

On March 19, 2015 the FDA published an advisory (called a "safety alert") about homeopathic asthma OTC medications, recommending that patients be wary, and that health care practitioners be sure to report any adverse effects to the FDA. Here is the link to that safety alert (http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/SafetyInformation/SafetyAlertsforHumanMedicalProducts/ucm439014.htm)

The FDA has since that date scheduled public hearings on

"the current use of human drug and biological products labeled as homeopathic, as well as the Agency's regulatory framework for such products. These products include prescription drugs and biological products labeled as homeopathic and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs labeled as homeopathic." Here is the link to the document (https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2015/03/27/2015-07018/homeopathic-product-regulation-evaluating-the-food-and-drug-administrations-regulatory-framework) which was published on March 27, 2015 - not even 10 days after the March 19th safety alert.

The date of the hearings is set for April 20 and 21, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. That is three weeks from first publication of the announcement.

What's the rush? Homeopathic remedies have been in use since they were first introduced to the United States in 1925 by Dr. Hans Burch Gram. Textbooks by the founder of Homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann, were available, but only in German until 1835. The practice of homeopathy spread throughout the USA because doctors found it to be so much more effective in their complex and unresolved medical cases. Homeopathic medicines have been accepted in the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS) and regulated under a document called CPG Sec. 400.400, Conditions Under Which Homeopathic Drugs May be Marketed. These conditions have been unchanged for the last 40 years.

Why, suddenly now, are we wanting to change the manufacture of these remedies? Why such a push to label homeopathic remedies dangerous, when they have been around for over 200 years without any problems?

Cui bono? The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines this phrase: "a principle that probable responsibility for an act or event lies with one having something to gain". Who stands to gain from destroying the manufacturers of homeopathic remedies?

A sentence in the most recent version of the 400.400 document with regards to FDA regulation of homeopathic medicine may provide a clue.

"Until recently, homeopathic drugs have been marketed on a limited scale by a few manufacturers who have been in business for many years and have predominantly served the needs of a limited number of licensed practitioners... Today the homeopathic drug market has grown to become a multimillion dollar industry in the United States, with a significant increase shown in the importation and domestic marketing of homeopathic drug products." This document (http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/ComplianceManuals/CompliancePolicyGuidanceManual/ucm074360.htm), outlining the conditions under which homeopathic drugs may be marketed, is undated, and was downloaded on 03-26-15.

In 2013, IBISWorld (http://www.ibisworld.com/industry/homeopaths.html) estimated revenue from homeopathic medicines of $363 million with an annual growth rate projected at 7%.

In 2015, Vox Media wrote that Americans spend $3 billion on homeopathy. Curiously, that article (http://www.vox.com/2015/3/11/8190427/homeopathy) also concluded that Americans were wasting their money on ineffective treatments.

The Australian government published (https://www.nhmrc.gov.au/_files_nhmrc/publications/attachments/cam02a_information_paper.pdf) their findings on the lack of efficacy of homeopathy in March 2015.

They just released a statement (https://www.nhmrc.gov.au/media/releases/2015/nhmrc-releases-statement-and-advice-homeopathy) re-iterating the ineffectiveness of homeopathy on March 15th, just in time for the FDA's release of the advisory on homeopathics used to treat chronic asthma.

The President of the Australian Homeopathic Association noted the political and non-scientific nature of the attack in a document available online here (http://).

The letter from the AHA states in part: "We urged the Council to correct this ill-considered stance [from a position paper leaked in 2011.12 months before the report was published, that it would be "unethical for medical practitioners to treat patients using homeopathy" because homeopathy "has been shown not to be efficacious"], which revealed a disregard for the principles of empirical scientific research and a subsequent abuse of the power and influence of Australia's leading medical science research organization [stet] in relation to homoeopathy."

It is to be noted that their National Health Minister, Sussan Ley, declared (https://www.huntergpa.org/news/sussan-ley-holds-fire-on-rebates-for-useless-natural-therapies) that as of March 2015 the Australian National Health Service would continue to provide coverage for homeopathic treatments in Australia.

So what is so bad about energized water? Why such a huge flap? Does this not seem like a massive over-reaction, an abreaction to something that seems on the face of it to be considered either innocuous or ineffective? Why are we branding it as dangerous, if it's just energized water?

People can choose where they wish to spend their money. If they choose something that is not harmful, and that may provide benefit, why should that substance be regulated out of existence? What is not being said? What is being implied without ever actually coming out and stating it?

So... is this just a blip on the radar? Or are we at war? Of course, war has not been declared. But in the opinion of many in the homeopathic community, it would behoove us to prepare.

Apollo the physician warrior:

As people start to awaken and realize that drugs work only some of the time, and they kill some of the time, and when they don't do either, the cause tremendous side effects, they are turning to more natural things.

I've been taking homeopathics for decades. Simple, little sugar pills, as they call them, can sometimes work wonders when all other drugs have failed.

I think the biggest threat is that once one discovers one's constitutional remedy, one can buy that remedy for less than $10.00 and it will last months and it will bring relief for most long term ailments.

These days, one doesn't even have to go to a homeopath if one is intelligent enough to use an online remedy finder, and trust me, it doesn't take a genius to do that.

What does this mean for the poor, uninsured people of a country that doesn't have universal medical insurance? It means one can actually get help without going bankrupt!

And even for countries that have universal medical insurance, like Canada, prescriptions drugs, if one doesn't have insurance for those, can run up to $100.00 per prescription or more. And if the prescriptions doesn't help, can one return it?!? You guessed it!!! And so the poor get poorer and the sick get sicker.

Several years ago, Canada was under threat with a bill. I think it was Bill C51 (forgive me if I'm wrong) which was going to prohibit all natural supplements, including vitamins, herbs, homeopathics, etcl., I signed petitions and got my family and friends to sign petitions explaining why they needed their natural supplements and there were hundreds of thousands of signatures and so the bill was stopped. Just recently, I heard the bill is on its way back!

I'll fight it again!

I'm so enraged at this sort of thing!

It's my body! It's my life! It's my health! Let me deal with it as I see fit.

I hope people are smart enough to realize they have a right to fight these things.

People spend millions on cigarettes and coke. What is the rush to stop homeopathy because people spend 3 millions a year on a presumed worthless medecine.

Come on, if they want to waste their money that way, let them do it, this is free market. And better than spending it on coke and fries. They are surely not protecting the public. If the medecine gives nothing, so what, at least it does no damage to the body. Diluton are sooooo great lol. How could it damage the body?

The really great thing is how little this actually matters (what the FDA or Health Canada or any other ignorant gouvernment orgnaisation trying to keep things under control for the pharmaceutical industries says we can or can't do).

If you know what you are doing, you don't even need the homeopathic pellets.

I write remedies on myself and my little ones regularly and they work perfectly fine.

Good luck taking away my knowledge and pen. ;)
