Psychic abilities come in many different forms and varieties. Though it is common for many people to believe that all true psychics must be able to tell everything about the future, psychic ability rarely works this way. Instead, there are a number of different ways that a people with psychic abilities and intuitive gifts may be able to receive information.

Chances are, you are at least a little bit psychic. We all have souls, and all have intuition. It can be something as simple as having a “gut feeling” about something, or knowing somebody will call you right before they do. Though not all of us have highly developed psychic abilities, everyone is hardwired with a sixth sense. In fact, this may even date back to pre-historic times where it would act as an evolutionary advantage.

Here are 4 of the most common psychic abilities:

1. Claircognizance

Claircognizance translates as “clear knowing.” Someone with claircognizance will simply know, with certainty, things that that they would have no logical way of knowing. They often get flashes of insight, such as having a profound feeling that danger is up ahead.

Example: You know for certain that you will have a new job be a certain period of time, or know that you should take a different route than you normally would and end up avoiding a car accident.

2. Clarivoyance

Clairvoyance translates as “clear seeing.” A clairvoyant is someone who is able to see intuitive information visually. A clairvoyant may simply see a number, a symbol, or a name written on a piece of paper. It doesn’t necessarily have to be anything too complex or dramatic. But the main ability is that they are able to receive information visually through their minds eye.

Example: You are able to guess if a coin landed on heads or tails at a rate significantly greater than would be expected by chance.

3. Clairaudience

Clairaudience translates as “clear hearing.” People with clairaudience receive information by literally hearing it in their head. They often feel as if there is a little voice telling them what they need to know, kind of like how we can hear our own voices in our head while we are reading.

Example: You receive information about an unseen event or future circumstance audibly, such as “Tuesday you’re going to run into an old friend”.

4. Clairsentience

Clairsentience translates as “clear feeling.” Those with clairsentience are often times referred to as empaths or intuitive empaths. This one is probably the most common psychic ability, as a lot of people can relate to having a strong empathic connection to others.

They can literally feel the emotions of other people, which is not always fun and games. When the people around them have negative emotions, it can be very physically and spiritually draining. Because intuitive empaths can feel what others are feeling, they are also often highly aware of when people around them are lying or being deceptive.

Example: Someone around you keeps telling you they’re “fine”, when you can feel literally feel that they are sad or angry.

Psychics Vs Mediums

It’s important to note that physics are not mediums. Psychics are about to receive information around them outside of the 5 senses, where as mediums are able to communicate with spirits who have passed over. When we hear the word “psychic”, we often think of someone who claims to be a fortune teller, or someone claims to have supernatural abilities that allow them to communicate with deceased relatives.

But the truth is, we all naturally have psychic abilities. It’s not some New Age concept or a pseudoscientific issue. It’s simply a matter of looking to the data of our human experience and comparing it with others. Our souls and biological organisms are hardwired with a 6th sense, and every single person can testify to having at least some instance experience of their own psychic ability.

I have dej vui experiences of seeing things in the future which are usually 6-12 months out, but have no control. I see an image or scene and 6-12 months later I'm present and it hits me what I saw and I'm like ok. No control or anything I can do about it. Happens to me all the time and these things I see are good bad and some have no importance, but seeing a building or structure or people.
What interesting is in the past when I was younger I saw images of my past. Different short videos from my mind that play over an over like fragments of my former life. You throw in out of body experiences at an early age and astral projection to travel and I have a very different view of the world. Shadow beings yes I have seen them, reptilians yes and other astral beings that think they can suck the life force from us. We are seen as a resource and a food by some of these beings so I decided at one point to hunt them down and to this day my purpose is liberation of this planet. I knew since I was born this world wasn't right and boy was I right and been a pain in the ass to the dark shirts ever since then. You might say Sith73 you need to show these beings love, I do lots of love and make sure they get sent back to source with lots of love. Liberation is my purpose and will not rest till this world is free and we as a race can live in harmony once again with each other and nature on this beautiful world.

sometimes it safed me or helped not to get in bad situations its pretty powerfull but u have to trust your feeling when i was younger somethimes i didnt listened to the feeling and things went horrible wrong, today im more used to it :)

I’d toss into the mix some other ‘Clairs’, like “clairscent” and “clairempathy” which is slightly different from “clairsentience”.

At times, smell in an environment works in conjunction with other “clairs”. What I'm recognizing is gentle awareness heightens the 'claire'. Like when the pigeons fly around me, I feel them in my auric field. Or when you shake someone's hand or someone passes by, impressions, smells and visuals pop up if/when one is open to it.

This collective word phrase includes any or all types of psychic sensitivity corresponding to the senses: seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, tasting, touching. Clair Senses in psychic terms are translated:
clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, clairscent, clairtangency, and clairgustance. Additional gifts are clairempathy and channeling.

CLAIRVOYANCE

Clairvoyant (clear vision) -- To reach into another vibrational frequency and visually perceive "within the mind's eye" something existing in that realm. A clairvoyant is one who receives extrasensory impressions, and symbols in the form of "inner sight" or mental images which are perceived without the aid of the physical eyes and beyond the limitations of ordinary time and space. These impressions are more easily perceived in an alpha state and during meditation, though many clairvoyants can obtain visual information regarding the past, present and future in a variety of environments.

CLAIRAUDIENCE

Clairaudience (clear audio /hearing) -- To perceive sounds or words and extrasensory noise, from sources broadcast from spiritual or ethereal realm, in the form of "inner ear" or mental tone which are perceived without the aid of the physical ear and beyond the limitations of ordinary time and space. These tones and vibrations are more easily perceived in an alpha state and during meditation, though many clairaudients can obtain verbal and sound-related information regarding the past, present and future in a variety of environments. Most Channelers (also known as Mediums) work with both clairvoyance and clairaudience.

CLAIRSENTIENCE

Clairsentience (clear sensation or feeling) - To perceive information by a "feeling" within the whole body, without any outer stimuli related to the feeling or information. (Also see clairempathy)

CLAIRSCENT

Clairscent (clear smelling) – To smell a fragrance/odor of substance or food which is not in one's surroundings. These odors are perceived without the aid of the physical nose and beyond the limitations of ordinary time and space.

CLAIRTANGENCY

Clairtangency (clear touching) -- More commonly known as psychometry. To handle an object or touch an area and perceive through the palms of one's hands information about the article or its owner or history that was not previously known by the clairtangent. 

CLAIRGUSTANCE
Clairgustance (clear tasting) -- To taste a substance without putting anything in one's mouth. It is claimed that those who possess this ability are able to perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste.

CLAIREMPATHY

Clairempathy (clear emotion) – An Empath is a person who can psychically tune in to the emotional experience of a person, place or animal. Clairempathy is a type of telepathy to sense or feel within one's self, the attitude, emotion or ailment of another person or entity. Empaths tune into the vibrations and "feel" the tones of the aura.

CHANNEL/CHANNELING

Channel -- A person who allows his/her body and mind to be used as a mechanism for etheric world intelligence to bring psychic information or healing energy to others.
Channeling -- To allow an etheric world intelligence to enter one's mind and impress thoughts upon the consciousness to be spoken aloud, using one's voice or body to deliver the information or healing energy.

As more of the higher frequencies replace the lower ones, we’ll be able to access the “clairs” as a normal part of our organic, inner technology. Belief plays a significant part, as well. Belief, awareness and practice.

This is an interesting post in that as it brings me to a central question that I have had for some time, which is; Is it that I know what will happen because of claircognizance and clarivoyance, or is it me manifesting subconsciously?

I will try to explain as best I can, but I am not particularly adept at the written word as I am verbally. Even verbal interaction tries my patience as I get frustrated that I can't just project the thoughts into your mind.

First of all though, let me say I don't like labels so I don't make an express claim to be 'Clarivoyant', but I will use your terms loosely defined for reference purposes.

I have always had very strong what you term 'claircognizance', I don't know how I know, I just do. I would be dead many times over were it not for this. You would not even believe me if I told you. Even the course this world is on now, I have known for 2 decades it would be exactly what you see unfolding now.

I have what you might call clarivoyance, in that I will get a flash of something but I have absolutely no control over it. More often I will let a scene play out in my mind's eye as in a daydream but I think it is more a case of me manifesting a particular scenario, rather than me getting some psychic interpretation of the general consensual reality because I have noticed that the more I linger on the thought, the more likely it is to incarnate. Hence my opening question. Not sure I have a definitive answer, I have a feeling it might be a bit of both but I can't say for sure. In other words, it might be some percentage that it is myself manifesting that outcome, and sometimes me inately picking up on the manifestations/intentions of others. But I speculate.

Lastly, I have what you refer to as clairsentience, in that I sense the feelings of others, some people might call it being empathic. For all intents and purposes, I am nearly impossible to lie to, especially in person, and most especially if I can pose questions to them. The only exceptions would be to some extent psychopaths and sociopaths are harder to read as they feel no guilt or remorse, but even then, while I might not be able to read if they are specifically lying about a particular question, I can definitely sense that they are being deceptive in a more general way and that they are a negative entity not to be trusted, so either way I have their number. This ability (for lack of a better word) was revealed to me in a traumatic childhood experience that I went into on my twitter account a couple months ago that for brevity's sake I won't go into, you can read about it there if you wish, the link is on my website.

When such a question is asked, and after some prompting more than a year ago from a forum member, I now alsways feel that those type of questions are in fact from the US government searching for their next talent or their next target.

I must have been thoroughly contaminated by the conspiracy spirit.:p

Empathic feeler, I feel... Everything with my mind and body so that's why it's extremely hard to fool me, I pick up on everything even if I didn't want to. Claircognizance, I do get some minor visions at times. I believe that my higher self guides me at all times, I just need to tap into that frequency so that I am able to clearly follow the guidance from within. Some may call it intuition.

I have had bouts of ability, to one degree or another, through out my life time so-far.

I think to say "you have this or that ability" is to have it on demand at a higher than normal/background level.

If you suddenly tune into the flow of life, you will all of a sudden have the abilities (which to a greater extent is to be in the right state of mind).
Sadly, at the moment, i'm not in the flow and so quite disconnected but!

I’ve wondered that as well. Though of late, I prefer not to ponder but to accept it as a natural part of who I am. Through acknowledgement it helps to override the mind quest to analyze it back into doubt-land. (And yeah! That real-estate is getting smaller and smaller.) My focus is on the sensation, the visual, the feeling, inner knowing, etc. rather than the doubt meme doing back flips on a trampoline in the head cavity.

It's a good time to add here: I'm a work in progress.
