George Knapp welcomed DNA expert, Melba Ketchum, for the entire 4-hour program, for a discussion on her Bigfoot research, as well as her testing or planned testing of samples from four giant and elongated skulls, and other giant remains. She addressed some of the controversies surrounding her previous DNA analysis of alleged Bigfoot hair and related samples, which yielded strange results that suggested some kind of human hybrid or mutation. The criticism of her work hasn't come from geneticists but from people "not qualified to even review the paper," or people who never even bothered to read her analysis, she remarked.
There's a big cover-up going on with some of the giant remains and bones, as they disappear from various locations or are kept from the public, she reported. Historical references to giants are seen across cultures, and they have been depicted throughout time. There was a relatively recent account that a live giant was killed by the military in Afghanistan and flown back to the States, she noted. Some of the remains of giants show double rows of teeth, and six-fingered/six-toed hands & feet, indicating they were more than just very tall people, Ketchum continued.
Many Native American tribes have tales of "red-headed giants," some who were said to be cannibals, and Ketchum has acquired some bone samples for testing, through the Erickson Project (http://www.sasquatchthequest.com/). So far, it appears they're not related to Sasquatch, she revealed. She was able to obtain two large teeth from a giant mandible for testing from a museum in a Winnemucca, NV which got the remains from a cave in Lovelock. Among the 17 or so additional giant-type samples she is preparing to test are teeth from "Zana," a captured female Sasquatch-type creature who reportedly lived and mated with humans in Russia in the 1890s. Privately funded for five years, The Erickson Project has studied Sasquatch at various habituation sites throughout North America. The only goal of Adrian Erickson and his team is to finally have the sasquatch officially recognized as a species or sub-species.
This was a long and frustrating journey.

EVIDENCE
Through the years the Erickson Project has procured a significant amount of evidence from different study sites in North America. Multiple casts of foot and hand prints, witness accounts, audio recordings, video clips, encounters and physical evidence such as hairs, blood, and saliva have been collected, which have undergone extensive mitochondrial and nuclear DNA testing by The Sasquatch Genome Project led by Dr. Melba Ketchum of Texas, the group responsible for a five-year study and genetic sequencing of Sasquatch DNA.
CHALLENGES
Elusiveness of the creature: The Sasquatch is by no means the rarest but far and away is the most elusive creature on earth. Their intelligence and ability to avoid detection goes far beyond any recognized species. Their highly developed sensory system, including incredible night vision, allows them to quickly detect humans and allows them to easily travel and forage under the cover of darkness. They seem to have the ability to detect surveillance cameras and quickly assess human intentions. As well they are very careful not to leave legible footprints in areas prone to humans.
Terrain: Sasquatch often inhabit very remote and rough terrain which makes long term study sites a challenge to access and maintain.
Scientific reluctance to look at the evidence: Unfortunately, evidence of the Sasquatch has been hoaxed numerous times resulting in the Sasquatch phenomena being a taboo subject in the eyes of many scientists. With few exceptions, the mountain of evidence collected by various organizations and individuals over decades has not yet opened the minds of most scientists. Even though the Erickson Project added significantly to this previously collected evidence, as a result, only a few more scientists became interested in the creature. As the team gathered more compelling evidence, the bar just got raised higher by the scientific community
DNA
The Erickson Project eventually focused mainly on the collection of sasquatch DNA. The team was ultimately successful in obtaining several hair, saliva and blood samples from four diverse areas in North America. The DNA of these samples are have been tested.
The mitochondrial DNA, which is passed on from the mother's side, consists of 16.500 base pairs. This only reflects the "female or matrilineal ancestry”, usually from tens of thousands of years ago (not the immediate parents of the individual involved.) The nuclear DNA, which contains the chromosomes of the genome, consists of 3 billion base pairs.
To analyze this amount of information is a huge undertaking without a 'type' specimen on file to compare it to. The team worked in conjunction with Dr. Melba Ketchum of DNA Diagnostics in Texas, and hopes that some branch of science will take the resulting Genome and continue this study.
The Sasquatch Genome Project, led by Dr. Melba Ketchum, is the group responsible for the 5-year study and genomic sequencing of Sasquatch DNA, "Novel North American Hominins, Next Generation Sequencing of Three Whole Genomes and Associated Studies," that passed scientific peer review in January and was published in February of this year.
