While i don't have TV myself (i call TV the idiot box, and, it is having the desired effect on the population) many people i know still do, and one place where some of my friends and i gather regularly, where the owner has a jam space set up in his basement and many a great song has been heard coming from there, he still does have TV (doesn't pay for it, he climbed the pole himself and stole it) and he still watches some shows regularly, like Game of Thrones, for example.

I sat through a couple episodes of Game of Thrones with some friends there a few times last summer/fall and I saw the episode where some king had to go to the Iron Bank to get some money.

Very telling indeed.

A king, and yet, he had to sit on a cold, stone bench, for hours, waiting for the keepers of the Iron Bank to grant him audience, so that he could borrow the necessary funds to do what he wanted to do.

This is why what Terence McKenna said below here is so true. You can have this royal family and that royal family and any amount of actors you like, all playing parts in a scripted existence, and if they can not coin their own coins, they are and will remain beholden.

They don't want smart people there in those positions: dummies only need apply!

"we do not fight back against the dehumanizing values that are handed down as control icons."

The same warning has been there throughout all known human history.

The nice have to learn that it is time to not be nice, to those whoa are naturally not nice.

To literally clip the violent and virulent among us.

It can be done without sacrificing self and values... it has to be done cold, without emotional entanglement, while still retaining balance in emotions.

That is the hard part. It requires self development; a rising awareness.

You might note that those are the parts of people that the virulent and the violent are working overtime to destroy.

The parasite resists the recognition and removal of it's self.

There are many ways of doing things that will give exactly the same results, so, no one is "stuck" anywhere, and, it doesn't matter who you are: it was like this when you got here.

*edited*

... it was like this when you got here (this time).

Some things are inevitable. I need a house to live in, a car to drive to work and need to buy food. What can be controlled is the truth that having infinite desires is a trap that bankers thrive on. They tempt you to be more and more in debt. One needs to be wise and live with the least material life and most spiritual life. That's the way I look at it.

You have touched on interesting subject matter.

It's like entering the system with the goal to be part of the solution (fight fire with fire) to correct it and then being corrupted in the process.

I have no doubt that has occurred countless times in human history.

hard(ly) ... it goes way beyond individual responses or responsibility, Guish, they have completely indebted all countries of the wulrd, and no matter how frugal any individual may be, there is still the overlying reality that you nor any of your friends will ever be able to set up a sane existence where everything is instead free, through contribution, and Nature is the most valuable presence here, and that for disrupting Her in any way stiff penalties from all other members of our Human Family need to be applied. It doesn't matter what one and/or their friends/family do while everything here on this Earth is viewed only as a commodity, something to be used to feed terminal indebtedness.

You probably already know about this one, Friend.

yeah ... the sickness of what is deemed relevance, and even more so, in an expanding human population where what could have been a very ancient and bright Giraffe moves into a Human Embryo for the first time, born into a family with, say, Bush as the last name, produces confusion, which, our system loves.

when people do really hurtful and stupid things like this I always blame it on their newness here. it would be nice if our system was set up so that competency tests are done to those entering positions that have the ability to affect all of us, but again, this system is set up to be as anti-you as is possible. it is better that "you all fight amongst yourselves" and this is by design.

it's not that they're dummies, however when it's your first time or even first several times through as a Human, yeah, you're going to seem dumb to the older ones, of course.

so much has to change

still walking down a path that we should have abandoned long ago

According to hinduism, we are in the Kalyug, the era where mankind is in deep ignorance and has gone far from the spirit. The only thing that can save us is a global shift in consciousness.

You might find the Bhagavata Gita interesting. Sat Shree explains the journey of consciousness.

Bhagavadgita :asamshayam mahAbAho manah durnigraham chalam
abhyAsena tu kaunteya wairAgyena cha grhyate ||6.35||

"Undoubtedly, O mighty-armed, the mind is difficult to control and is restless; but, by practice, O Son of Kunti, and by dispassion it is restrained."

The verse says ''without doubt'' oh mighty warrior , the final state of truth can be achieved .. no matter how difficult that seems to be .

shanaih shanaih uparamet buddhyA dhrtigrheetayA
Atmasamstham manah krtwA na kinchit api chintayet ||6.25||

"Abandoning without reserve all desires born of SANKALPA, and completely restraining the whole group of senses by the mind from all sides, Little by little, let him attain quietude by his intellect, held firm; having made the mind established in the self, let him not think of anything."

yatah yatah nishcharati manah chanchalam asthiram
tatah tatah niyamya etat Atmani ewa washam nayet ||6.26||

"From whatever cause the restless and the unsteady mind wanders away, from that let him restrain it, and bring it back to be under the control of the Self alone."

It also reminds me of the opening chapter when Arjuna is confused and doesn't want to shoot arrows to his teachers. Krishna smiles gracefully. The graceful smile possibly means that the soul never dies.

that kind of reminded me of this:

and in any event, there are already enough old souls here to do whatever we want. if the Human population is going to keep expanding, new souls must come from somewhere, but let us not forget the myriad of old souls already here.
