Hi Avalon Family, I know we have an astronomy section here but I think this deserves a bit more attention and be front and center right now. The sun has been very quiet as of late that was until last month when a sun burst blew off the back side of the sun in the opposite direction of the earth and was indeed a "Kill shot" had it been pointed towards us.A Kill Shot meaning it would have knocked out power on a large scale for a long long time . Score one for us! Now there is another series of sun spots that are on the turn to rotate again towards us for the next week or so. Yesterday one of those sunbursts blew for the sake of simplicity sideways off the sun and not towards us but here's the description
"For comparison, the prominence was half the diameter of the sun and twice as long as the distance between Earth and the Moon. "It went to an unbelievable height,".Part of the prominence snapped off and formed the core of a bright CME: movie. The expanding cloud billowed away from the sun's eastern limb, well off the sun-Earth line, and is not expected to hit our planet. There really hasn't been any news on this except on www.spaceweather.com .
And I'm not an astronomer or have any scientific background , I'm just reporting from a bystander position and from all the years of chatter about potential solar flares hitting the earth in succession at some point and time. This particular one should it had been directed at us in my opinion could have been a disaster for its size. Can some of the Avalons chime in on this on your opinion and if I am wrong, thanks much. It looks like we have another 10 days of exposure of the current sunspots , these are big as it was reported yesterday the length of the one cluster is 12,000 kilometers long. Thanks
