Truth is an important concept. What does that mean? The American Heritage Dictionary defines "truth" as "conformity to fact or actuality;" "fidelity to an original or standard;" "reality, actuality;" "a statement proven to be or accepted as true.;" "sincerity, integrity;" "Truth. God."

It is of vital importance that we try our very hardest to make all of our statements - and our thoughts and actions - conform with the truth.

This is the basis of all meaningful communication.

A sign of a truthful person is an internal coherence and logical consistency in what they say and do. Animals sense this and do not trust those who emit distorted vibrations.

Granted we are human and not perfect. Some are actually divided unto themselves (functionally insane) and can thus sincerely "truthfully" speak from several points of view. But this is a working definition of insanity.

Regardless of who someone may wish to pose or present themselves as something or someone they are not, even in the wilds of the web - eventually, as in all things, the truth will out. Truth is consistent with nature and cannot be suppressed. Therefor, moral integrity - i.e. truthfulness - is essential between humans to build trust and share information and impressions.

Let us then heartily embrace TRUTH-SAYING as a core human value.

If someone should mistakenly share information later found to be incorrect, when possible let us correct such misunderstandings and apologize.

Let no one consciously deliberately seek to deceive.

Hi Akhenaten,

Well stated! I would only add that truth is not just a destination but also a road map to itself. To wit, if you orient away from truth, you can then only find truth again by orienting back. Truth does not move to you; you have to move to it. That may sound trivial on the face of it, but quite often individuals unknowingly shift truth and arrive at something that they are convinced is the truth but is not the truth at all.

We must guard against any and all who exhort either directly or indirectly, us to enter into a relativistic frame of mind in which there is no meaning to personal integrity or truth. In such a view it simply does not matter who or what we are..............and anything that promotes that way of being is the true enemy of humankind. Moral intergrity - truth saying - is the fundamental basis of a meaningful human life. Rarely in nature are lies told, though I have observed that animals, in particular some primates, who ARE IN CONTACT WITH HUMANS (i.e. the Washo experiments) have been known to engage in lying. As a rule, animals, plants, minerals and other beings are incapable of lying. So of interest is WHY do humans lie? It has something to do with a twist, if you will, in the human ego. An attempt to mount an unwinnable battle against heaven itself, if you will.........................the incredible power of the ego who at times simply denies the very basis our reality, telling more about itself finally than anything else. This resilient ego, is at the core of the schism in ourselves, a schism which has divided us against ourselves, caused us to battle our deepest selves, nature - and yes, God himself (speaking metaphorically if you will, if you accept the definition of Truth as God.)

Anyway a beginning might be accepting the premise of the basic importance of truth-saying in human endeavors. Eventually those not speaking the truth will show themselves for who they are, agents divided against themselves.

There IS hope. The hope lies within each and every one of us!

so how much truth do you think lies with in this

certainly good for contemplation .

truth is like clouds in the sky , you seek it ,it washes over you , you have the experience , dry it off you and look back at the clouds in wonderment . is truth the seeking , the experience or the faith , believing . maybe change truth for possibility and it will become much easier to have some great investagative conversations
