I have just found out I am about to be a grandmother!!   :Music:
My daughter is a vegetarian, non drinker, eats all organic, fresh juices daily and plans to have the baby at home with a midwife. Naturally as soon as her well meaning friends found she was pregnant they began telling her what she needs to do, such as start prenatal vitamins right away, stop eating Brie cheese.....its only 7 weeks in and she is going crazy!
I wonder if anyone has any good info on the need for prenatal vitamins and if needed recommendation for any organic/natural brands ?
And any other information that would be helpful for the most natural pregnancy and childbirth

One of the best brand iz AOR, sold out of Calgary Canada. I gave their products to my daughter for years.
The only absolute supplement is vitamin B complex, mostly B12. That is about it. If she is healthy. She has to make sure she has enough calcium being vegetarian, for her own bones and teeth (the child will rob hers if she lacks it).
We have a few doctors and naturopaths on the forum they may be able to help.

One wonders about such issues about *freaking out* if and when one is with child and what traumas are associated through the genes and conditioning that would warrant this type of reaction and not a response.
No amount of vitamins or supplements can replace good ol human heart emoting. Chill, be at peace and oneness with your blessed being growing in your womb. This is crucial. For why else would you be with child if not to bless?
So therein is your reply. The best supplement for your daughter and her child is love. Simple and primary - unconditional adoring. Teach your daughter how to fall in love with the process of birthing a being into this world and all that it encompasses.

Congratulations! It sounds like your daughter is giving herself and her baby a great start! She needs first and foremost to listen to her body and her intuition. She WILL be bombarded with lots of 'advice' and be told lots of fearmongering - more so now than at any other time of her life. Just remember that animals and humans have been reproducing for millenia on earth successfully without all this current advice and fearmongering. Just support her and listen to her and nurture her as best you can. if she has chosen the natural route then this is really great as she is doing so consciously. I am a childbirth educator and have left my teaching and the system as it was too prescriptive and I was told to follow the rules as a teacher. Ultimately if she needs a caesarean for whatever big reason, then not to feel too downhearted about it, but just to feel good that she tried her very best and this will always shine through with her parenting. However, the most important thing is to be confident that she knows best for herself and her baby, and if she can eliminate/reduce fear of birth or anything negative then she will be doing her best for herself and her baby. It's the same as with all aspects of life, but even more important now. I wish you, your daughter and future grandchildren all the very best and well done for bringing your daughter up so well and informed.
I would avoid vaccines if possible.

Yoga deep breathing is the best for birth preparation and those clumsy last few months for balance. Strengthens the legs and increases oxygen. She appears to be eating right but tell her to add more fresh spinach for the iron levels and ph balance once or twice before delivery to ensure no diseases can be passed or obtained during the pregnancy. Don't do the ph balance if she's already balanced. People in my community are always lacking vitamins, nutrients and proper exercise time to help the body during changes. Should be okay if she uses the "Native American squat and bare" where the woman will pillow the area with the midwife and wherever she rolls in pain, there is a cushion/futon mattress. Throw the pillows out afterwards or try birth in tub, I always wanted to try that less traumatic way myself, but I did actually use the "native American crouch and squat bare" 3 times. the focus on getting and staying in that position eases the pain, go figure, but it works.
Tell your daughter to ask God to be there or send someone to "watch" ensure and take it from there. Women have been doing this for eons, on earth and every Mother on the planet does this and comes through with flying colors.
Godspeed and keep us posted. Love hearing about births and love and happy or joyous celebratory posts.

Congrats on the new life!!
I am a mother to 3 beautiful children...6, 4, and 10 weeks:)
I gave birth all at home, and the last one with exactly the same lifestyle as your daughter! Except my husband was the midwife this time:)
I did so much focusing on myself and my health this last time, and it paid off tremendously. I did no prenatal vitamins, but I juiced twice a day and added Chlorella and Spiralina. I also added liquid chlorophyll to my water frequently and ate lots of in season fruits and veggies....especially seaweeds.
**IRON is KEY** Plant based iron....and algae/seaweed is the best!
I felt amazing my entire pregnancy. Bounding with enough energy to chase after my other two homeschooled kids all day, NO morning sickness, no emotional craziness. And I had a beautiful 1 hour 45 min labor that was basically painless. 7 1/2 lb GORGEOUS pink and vibrant baby girl who is amazing in every way:)
I had minimum bleeding, just 2 days of afterpains (compared to 2 weeks with my last 2....ehh!), and a week of pp bleeding (instead of 6 weeks with last 2....again, ehh!).
I was slightly anemic (like 95% of other preggo women) with my last 2 as well, even though I was taking prenatals and eating your normal 'healthy' protein based diet. NO anemia this time!! I feel like supplementing with fresh juice with all those natural enzymes and supplementing with iron rich algae is the best way to go.
And tell her to EAT HER PLACENTA!!!!!!!!
Omg...that is a whole 'nother post:)
I definitely attribute that to my very fast postpartum healing.
Being pregnant, and enjoying the alchemy of creating life is such a joyous, amazing experience....not to be dulled down, and drowned out in the miserable disposition we're taught to be in. And giving birth is such a rushing, high experience....nothing compares to it when done naturally. And then what a reward:)
I would also recommend Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin....anything by Ina May is awesome. Congrats again and happy birthing to you daughter:)
I too would recommend Ina May Gaskin - I've met her twice when she's come over to the UK to give talks and she is a truly awesome and inspirational person.

thank you for all the wonderful info ......and I would not say she is 'freaking out' LiquidMind just been going a little crazy sorting through all the advice after being bombarded by well meaning friends and although she has been reading up on things herself and does NOT plan to vaccinate and also spoke of the placenta being put into capsules, she is not interested in the over the counter prenatals that are full of all kinds of crap....she is very healthy in her diet and knows you can get your protein from plants not meat (another thing people start saying YOU need MEAT if you are pregnant) blah blah.....I really appreciate all the info you have given so far especially Becky and UniVive ....awesome stuff here to pass along to her.

Cogratulations, great news to know one more angel is coming. Tell her just to listen to her body (all the way) and enjoy the ride....
Each woman´s pregnacy is completly different even for the same woman. My wife in the second pregnacy loved to smell gasoline, just to give you a glimpse.

thank you Juan....yes you are right about that, and no two babies are alike! chalk and cheese is how I would describe my two kids right from birth.

I also craved the smell of synthetic plastics while pregnant! lol...strange.
I honestly think the body is kicked into a really refined detox during pregnancy, which explains the weird sensory cravings.

Definitely recommend she check out http://healthybabycode.com/
I think it is about $400 or so, but this nutritionist covers the information I spent about $10,000 learning with a naturopath during my first pregnancy.
Standard Process are the best vitamins there are, in my opinion. You have to buy them through a professional nutritionist, naturopath, chiropractor, etc., though. My oldest came out holding her head up, she was so strong, and definitely brilliant. Well worth it to make sure the nutrition is there.
MegaFood is another one I would consider. Just make sure they are good whole food supplements. Healthy baby code has all the info for how to cover every nutrient needed without supplements at all, but I prefer a better safe than sorry approach, and used the guidelines from it to fill in anywhere I felt might be lacking in my pregnancy with my youngest.
Also, I used hypnobirthing for my first and it did nothing for me. Used The Monroe Institute meditations for my next, and had a totally peaceful birth, and baby was out in three good, solid contractions. Cannot recommend this highly enough, but it is something to start right away. Hemi-Sync Opening the Way (http://shop.hemi-sync.com/products/c424-Opening-the-Way%C2%AE/)
Wish her all the best for a happy and healthy pregnancy.
