The title is deliberately a little tongue in cheek, as it may simply be nothing more than an artistic monument, but it certainly gets the imagination going as this thing looks like some kind of huge interdimensional portal. Would they really spend $16m on a functionless decoration?
The Ring of Life is a 515-foot (approximately 157 meters) landmark built in the city of Fushun, China.
The landmark is built with an observation deck accessible by elevator, as well as 12,000 LED lights.Having abandoned local entertainment projects due to the small local population, urban planners settled on building a sightseeing landmark instead in order to attract a tourist industry to the region. The structure uses approximately 3,000 tons of steel and cost an estimated $16M U.S. dollars.[4]

funny you should say that I was just looking at an article.....( though I'm not
taking Questions ...LOL ). I really liked the first half of the original Star Gate
movie , until they got to the inevitable ' Shoot everything in sight and free
the slaves from the oppressors , which unfortunately is the reality of most sky-fy
block busters , but the principle was great and the spin off series were also fun,
with some good concepts.

NASA Announces That Magnetic Portals Do Exist
new Tuesday 5th May 2015 at 09:20 By David Icke

‘Star-gates, magnetic portals, vortexes in space: Science fiction writers have given
the concept of extraordinary openings in space/time all sorts of names to explain
how travelers from far distant realms of space, time or both, arrive in Earth skies.
However, this is a science fiction ploy to enable a good story, is it not?
It turns out that they do exist although the discovery is said to be in its infancy. A
NASA-funded researcher at the University of Iowa has figured outhow to find them.
Yes, some people feel this is old news to the “breakaway civilization” of elite
humans who have been to Mars and beyond; even the more skeptical of us, wonder
if these amazing facts are just now being released by the government but that they
have known about them, even used them for years, perhaps with in-put and
assistance from cooperating aliens.
However, let’s take a look at the news just released by NASA, it is confirmation that
all us “science fiction dreamers” are not such dreamers after all.’
“We call them X-points or electron diffusion regions,” explains plasma physicist Jack
Scudder of theUniversity of Iowa. “They’re places where the magnetic field of Earth
connects to the magnetic field of the Sun, creating an uninterrupted path leading
from our own planet to the sun’s atmosphere 93 million miles away.”
NASA’s report: “Observations by NASA’s THEMIS spacecraft and Europe’s Cluster
probes suggest that these magnetic portals open and close dozens of times each
day. They’re typically located a few tens of thousands of kilometers from Earth
where the geomagnetic field meets the onrushing solar wind. Mostportals are small
and short-lived; others are yawning, vast, and sustained. Tons of energetic
particles can flow through the openings, heating Earth’s upper atmosphere,
sparking geomagnetic storms, and igniting bright polar auroras.”
“NASA is planning a mission called “MMS,” short for Magnetospheric Multiscale
Mission, due to launch in 2014, to study the phenomenon. Bristling with energetic
particle detectors and magnetic sensors, the four spacecraft of MMS will spread out
in Earth’s magnetosphere and surround the portals to observehow they work.”
Just one problem: Finding them. Magnetic portals are invisible, unstable, and
elusive. They open and close without warning “and there are no signposts to guide
us in,” notes Scudder. Actually, there are signposts, and Scudder has found them.
Portals form via the process of magnetic reconnection. Mingling lines of magnetic
force from the Sun and Earth criss-cross and join to create the openings. “X-points”
are where the criss-cross takes place. The sudden joining of magnetic fields can
propel jets of charged particles from the X-point, creating an “electron diffusion region
To learn how to pinpoint these events, Scudder looked at data from a space probe
that orbited Earth more than 10 years ago. “In the late 1990s, NASA’s Polar
spacecraft spent years in Earth’s magnetosphere,” explains Scudder, “and it
encountered many X-points during its mission.”
“Using Polar data, we have found five simple combinations of magnetic field and
energetic particlemeasurements that tell us when we’ve come across an X-point or
an electron diffusion region. A single spacecraft, properly instrumented, can make
these measurements,” says Scudder.
“This means that single member of the MMS constellation using the diagnostics can
find a portal and alert other members of the constellation. Mission planners long
thought that MMS might have to spend a year or so learning to find portals before it
could study them. Scudder’s work short cuts the process, allowing MMS to get to
work without delay,” say NASA reports.
What does this mean? Hey, all good magnetic portals in science fiction offer
themselves as shortcuts to new worlds and new civilizations, boldly going where….
It is high time we found these star-gates for real, and it seems we (ok, actually, Dr.
Scudder), has! And with the “signpost” explained above, we can actually find them
as they shimmer and undulate in Earths awesome magnetic field.
Is Earth’s magnetic field actually the morphic field of her own consciousness? A
subject for another day!

Has anyone seen the resemblance to the "Tesla glass dimension experiment ring? If they have electric pos and neg wiring then the portal can work. Where it goes is anyone on Earth's guess right now, but maybe it's a portal escape or entrance? Look it up and see the variance of when they dropped the lemon and egg in and it went into another glass. If they succeed, I'm wondering who or what is coming or going into this project? Perhaps they don't need a ship? Perhaps their ancient walls told of other technology, the US doesn't know about? Leaves the imagination tingling, doesn't it? Whole lot of "what if's."

In my opinion, Stargate SG-1 is one of the best TV programmes ever made and contains a wealth of real information and (again in my opinion) was created for the purpose of "plausible deniability". They even had an episode where they created a TV show (within the show), and the General of the Stargate programme even said that "if there was a security breach, we could just point to the TV show".

well, $16kk is not that much taking into account how large this structure is..

I agree with that and have done several posts on the subject, I think there was
a feeling of disclosure thru the run up to the millennium , culminating in Steven
Greers 2001 disclosure project . Then 'Wham Bam Uncle Sam ' . The Neo - Cons
and their allies pulled off 9/11 and we were back to square one. Though with
forums like this I think we are heading for disclosure by default. As most on
here and elsewhere believe there is a secret space programme , possible
stargate or jump rooms and much more............
The Gary Mc Kinnon case is also very interesting imo...The British government
under pressure did eventually block his extradition to the US , but it has silenced
him and we may never know what he really found.

Collaboration with the military[edit]

Generals Michael E. Ryan and John P. Jumper, USAF Chiefs of Staff, appeared as
themselves in "Prodigy" (2001) and "Lost City" (2004).
The U.S. Department of the Air Force, through the Air Force Office of Public Affairs,
Entertainment Liaison in Los Angeles, cooperated closely with the Stargate SG-1
producers. Before the beginning of the series, the Air Force granted production
access to the Cheyenne Mountain complex to film stock shots. They also read every
script for mistakes and provided help with plausible background stories for all
characters, ribbons, uniform regulations, hair advice, plotlines, and military
relationships.[70] The USAF flew up several T-38 Talon, F-15 and F-16 fighter jets
to Vancouver for various episodes and direct-to-DVD films.[37][71][72] Many of
the extras portraying USAF personnel were real USAF personnel.[73]
Two successive Chiefs of Staff of the Air Force, Generals Michael E. Ryan and John
P. Jumper, appeared as themselves in season 4's "Prodigy" and season 7's "Lost
City", respectively. General Jumper's second scheduled appearance in season
9's "The Fourth Horseman" was cancelled due to ongoing real-world conflicts in the
Middle East.[72] The Air Force Association recognized Richard Dean Anderson at its
57th annual dinner on September 14, 2004 for his work as actor and executive
producer of the show, and for the show's positive depiction of the United States Air
Force.[73]
Several scenes of season 4's "Small Victories" were filmed aboard and outside a
decommissioned Russian Foxtrot-class submarine, which had been brought from
Vladivostok to Vancouver by a private owner.[8] The United States Navy invited the
cast and producers to film aboard the nuclear submarine USS Alexandria (SSN-757)
and at their Applied Physics Laboratory Ice Station in the Arctic for the direct-to-
DVD sequel Stargate: Continuum.[74]

I feel emotionally exhausted after recent, fishing trip with no fish, but I can sacrifice little time for this.
Some time you can tell a lot, without saying anything.
Below link's post is a good sample of it.

Very interesting thread! The chinese stargata only needs a DHD but perhaps they haven´t installed it yet! I am a big SG-1 fan, it is my favourite sci-fi show (along with Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica, but neither of them has anyone resembling O´Neill!)
However, the cooperation with the United states army forces have always interested me. Every producer that wants to have the help from the army has a lot of regulations to follow. There is a lot to read about this, for example here (http://www.army.mil/info/institution/publicAffairs/ocpa-west/faq.html):
The following criteria are used to judge the possibility of fully supporting entertainment industry requests.
The production must benefit the Department of Defense or otherwise be in the national interest based on the following factors:
The production must help increase public understanding of the Armed Forces and the Department of Defense.
The production should help Armed Forces recruiting and retention programs.
The production must be authentic in its portrayal of persons, places, actual military operations or historical events. Fictional portrayals must depict a feasible interpretation of military life, operations and policies.
The production should not appear to condone or endorse activities by private citizens or organizations that are contrary to U.S. Government policy.
The producer must agree to sign and abide by the production agreement and DODI5410.16 (you will receive copies of both documents early in your coordination).
Military assets requested must be available when required.
It also says:
Will I need to provide a copy of the project, still photographs and promotional material to the Army?
Yes, when Department of Defense has assisted on a production, you will be obliged to furnish, on request, prints or duplication material. The production will provide the Department of Defense with a minimum of five (5) copies of all promotional and marketing materials (e.g., electronic press kits, one-sheets, and television advertisements) for internal information and historical purposes in documenting DoD assistance to the production. Additionally, the production company will provide a minimum of five (5) DVD copies of the completed production to the Department of Defense for internal briefings and for historical purposes, by overnight shipment to arrive the day following the domestic airing or commercial distribution of the production. The Department of Defense agrees not to exhibit these productions, but will be permitted to copy short clips from them for purposes of internal information, education, and training.
which means that somewhere in DOD there is complete series of SG-1!

Care to elaborate?
My opinion is that it's not unusual for chinese "leaders" to throw money into hugh budget proejct like this or like ghost cities.
This is the way of how they "rule" and "profit", instead of empowering the powerless.
It's built in the new district where there are new houses and shopping malls, which more likely to bring more profit for the government.
According to this news article:http://money.163.com/12/1122/02/8GSP1LDF00253B0H_all.html#p1
There will be 100 building around the ring of life and the investment for real estate is 300 hundread million.
