Although the annual Ottawa Press Gallery Dinner is known for its unorthodox speeches, Green Party Leader Elizabeth May cast an awkward pall on the proceedings with an extended speech that ended with her being led off the stage.
"Maybe Prime Minister doesn't want to be with humans"
“Omar Khadr, you’ve got more class than the whole f—— cabinet, thank you,” shouted May as Transport Minister Lisa Raitt gripped the B.C. MP by the shoulders and led her off stage right.

Speaking to the National Post on Sunday, an apologetic May insisted the incident was simply a spectacular failure at “edgy” comedy.

Held annually at what is now the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, the Press Gallery dinner gathers journalists and politicians for a lively event known for its tongue-in-cheek speeches and performances.

Thanks Tangri for the posting of Elizabeth May's speech at the Ottawa Press Club Annual Dinner. I have nothing but respect for Elizabeth May from the time she entered parliament as the leader of the Green Party. I heard the press people commenting on Ms. May's speech last night. I must say they were not very kind to her but I understand that her public appollogy on CTV last night was very genuine.
This lady is brilliant on so many levels and deserves respect. I see her out burst as frustration not unlike the rest of the Canadian public. She was a very strong critic of Harper's bill C-51 the Canadian equivalent of the U.S Patriot Act. No Canada can also become a police state just like the United States with its own dictator Steven Harper. I suspect this is what under lyes Ms. May's frustration which came out during her speech . The people in the Ottawa press, know this to be true but like all MSM press, they are controlled and dare not speak they truth, or their careers come to an end our worse.
A wonderful book titled "Party OF ONE " written by journalist Michael Harris, address the damage that Steven Harper has done over the last nine years to Parliamentary Democracy. Canada no longer has a democracy
