Thanks Guish! This is a timely post for me as I inch in the direction of getting out of the system. Sometimes I feel like I need to solve a few 'mental exercises' first before the leap. Not sure why I wait other then that.

Ensure that you stay in contact with me my Friend. I'm building a house in the middle of sugar cane fields in a few months. I won't be completely off the grid but it's a big change in direction. I still love my job of educating young minds and I have never been a member of mainstream society.

Well, there's a long way to go. The house has been inspired from a Zen house with side windows, a garage on the roof and open terrace. I'll keep it simple enough. I can't afford more debt. It should be a nice way for being close to nature and raise my 2 year old.

Yeah I could see where it would be easy to look at all the building materials and advances in home building and it being a challenge to draw the line financially speaking.
