Information request: Any good things to do in the SE

Hi folks, I live in NE Georgia and was wondering if any one knew of any good lectures or workshops going on this summer or fall that I could possibly attend. Perhaps in the Asheville NC, Chattanooga TN or Atlanta GA area????? (I don't want to travel too far)

I'm bored and need something to do soon and somewhere to go....
