The reason the BBC is including some Bildeberg reports could be they are
represented in Austria by Rona Fairhead Chair of the BBC Trust. It could also
be in response to Bilderberg backed Hillary Clintons declared media war on RT and
independent news outlets and bloggers................One of the biggest threats to
these elites power monopolies. It has been exposed more in the era of the web ,
but the secrecy and security involved in these meeting are anti democratic.

Why is the BBC reporting Bilderberg ? Obviously after the last couple of
years in particular with widespread debate on the web and reporting by
the likes of RT news. The establishment has to report it to pretend there
nothing mysterious here just the powerfull having a chat..............

influential figures in the world, starts on Thursday. But who's on this year's guest
list? Critics call it a sinister conspiracy, reinforcing without accountability the
dominance of a transatlantic capitalist cabal. Those involved say it's merely an
informal way to understand better the way the world works and to share their
expertise to improve it.Whatever one's view, an invitation to the four-day
Bilderberg meeting is a sign that someone has arrived as a politician, business
leader, administrator or opinion-influencer.

Of the 133 people due to arrive in the small town of Telfs-Buchen, Austria, this
week, 21 will be politicians. Among them is a regular attendee in UK Chancellor
George Osborne. Another notable figure is Ed Balls, his former Labour shadow, who
lost his seat in Parliament in May's general election but is still deemed influential
enough to come. The United Kingdom - including its economic performance - is on
the agenda.

Laurence Boone, special adviser on financial and economic affairs to President
Francois Hollande, will be there too, as will Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and
Austrian President Heinz Fischer.

A conspicuous absentee is the International Monetary Fund's managing director
Christine Lagarde, who attended last year. Several of the political contingent at
Bilderberg are retired from day-to-day involvement, such as former Italian Prime
Minister Mario Monti and former European Commission President Jose Barroso.

Technology firms and organisations provide six representatives. Google boss Eric
Schmidt will be there, as will two other of the company's senior executives.
Artificial intelligence is one of Bilderberg's suggested topics for discussion. There is
no detailed agenda, with no resolutions or votes.

"Thanks to the private nature of the conference, the participants are not bound by
the conventions of their office or by pre-agreed positions," Bilderberg says. "As
such, they can take time to listen, reflect and gather insights."

Critics argue its aim is more sinister and there are countless different flavours of conspiracy theory.

The Bilderberg meeting is taking place amid high security

The event's organisers describe its participants as "diverse". Still, only 27 women
are due to come, compared with 106 men. Among them are Santander chairman
Ana Botin, BBC Trust chairman Rona Fairhead and Zanny Minton Beddoes, editor-in-
chief of The Economist. The last two are among 18 people from the media.

Think tanks and lobbying groups are sending 14 people, the same as the number of
academics on Bilderberg's list.

The only royal due to take part is Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, whose father
Prince Bernhard co-founded the meetings, first held at the Hotel de Bilderberg in
Oosterbeek, Netherlands, in 1954. Its stated aim was to "foster dialogue between
Europe and North America".

There's an emphasis on security issues, including chemical weapons, the Middle
East, Iran, terrorism, Nato and cybersecurity. David Petraeus, the retired US
general and former CIA director who was given two years' probation and fined
earlier this year for leaking classified materials to his mistress, will be in Telfs-
Buchen. He now works in the private sector.

Former French Prime Minister Alain Juppe, who was once banned from politics for a
year in 2004 his role in an illegal party-funding scandal, will be there too. He is
often mentioned as a possible future president of the country.

The world of finance provides 31 attendees, with industry, mainly heavy, and
transport accounting for another 18. Most are not household names, but one of the
more colourful figures is Michael O'Leary, chairman of the budget airline Ryanair
and known for his outspoken remarks. Unfortunately for him, he won't be able to
discuss the goings on at Bilderberg, as proceedings are strictly guarded by the
Chatham House Rule - meaning that the journalists and others are "free to use the
information received", but neither the identity nor the affiliation of speakers nor of
any other participant may be revealed.

Henry Kissinger, the former US Secretary of State who first came to a Bilderberg
meeting in the 1950s, returns. His country is top of the list of attendees with 33.
It's followed by the UK on 12, France on 10 and Austria on nine. Altogether, people
from 22 countries are coming.

One topic not on the outline list to be discussed this year is the environment. The
Breitbart website calls this "stupid".

But the importance of the Bilderberg meeting is emphasised by the Guardian, which
argues it's more influential than the G7 meeting of leading economies that took
place at the weekend, finishing with a call for an end to the use of fossil fuels by
the end of the century.

The sense of importance is echoed in the Irish Times, which says the invitation for
Michael O'Leary means he can now take "his place among the chieftains of the
world". Bilderberg might be secretive, but it's unlikely to be quiet this year.

I had three Austrian policemen in my hotel room last night. They stood there all
grim faced with their fluorescent bibs, torches and sidearms. It was like the worst
ever fancy dress party. I offered them a pilsner. They declined. They were too busy
checking my ID that had been carefully checked 10 minutes prior at a police
checkpoint. And carefully checked two minutes prior to that, at another police checkpoint.

This third check took so long, it was so late, and my patience was so thin, that
eventually I took my shirt and trousers off in front of the officers. “I’m having a
shower,” I explained, and went and had one. When I’d finished, I came out in my
towel, thinking they might be gone. They weren’t. “Put your clothes on please and
come to your car.” This party wasn’t getting any better.

Out at my car I couldn’t be bothered to get into the whole ‘probable cause’ thing so
I flung open the doors and with as much good cheer as I could muster, said: “Help
yourself”. They did. While one set of police searched my car with their torches,
another lot clustered round me and asked me questions: “Where do you live? What
are you doing here?” I’m a journalist and I live in a police state. What about you?

In my trouser pocket I found a “Medienhandbuch” from the G7, which I was given
in my goodie bag when I was accredited there. By the light of a police searchlight,
which was trained on me like I was trying to escape Stalag 17, I read out passages
to my guards to pass the time. “Experienced staff from the Federal Government will
be happy to help you with your work …” An officer interrupted. “Your address
please.” It was on my driving licence in his hand. This was getting silly.

A little while later, bored and a bit cold, I decided to point out to the officers that
while they were treating a journalist like a criminal, there were actual criminals
about to arrive at the hotel they were guarding. Convicted criminals. Such as
disgraced former CIA boss, David Petraeus, who’s just been handed a $100,000
(£64,000) fine and two years’ probation for leaking classified information.

Petraeus now works for the vulturous private equity firm KKR, run by Henry Kravis,
who does arguably Bilderberg’s best impression of Gordon Gecko out of Wall Street.
Which he cleverly combines with a pretty good impression of an actual gecko.

“What is a gecko?” asked one of my captors. “I’ll tell you what a gecko is if you tell
me where the press accreditation centre is. What, there isn’t one? That’s a shame,
because it would be really useful. You wouldn’t have to harass me in the middle of
the night like this. I could just show you my press pass.” The policeman scribbled
on his notebook. “Great, are you getting this down?” No. He was writing down the
number on my driving licence. Again.

“Can I go now?” Another no. So I continued my list of criminals. I moved on to
someone closer to home: René Benko, the Austrian real estate baron, who had a
conviction for bribery upheld recently by the supreme court. Which didn’t stop him
making the cut for this year’s conference. “You know Benko?” The cop nodded. It
wasn’t easy to see in the glare of the searchlight, but he looked a little ashamed.

I reassured him that Benko’s crimes were in the very best traditions of Bilderberg.
Don’t forget, the first chairman of the group, Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands,
was the biggest fraudster of the lot; he was caught back in the 70s organising
bribes from Lockheed and Northrop for the same arms contract. It was such a
scandal that in 1976, Bilderberg had to skip a year out of sheer embarrassment.

Maybe they should think about giving this year a miss as well. I wouldn’t mind. I’m
not having any fun here. “Do you mind turning off that searchlight? I won’t run
away, I promise.” A stern head shook. The policemen were careful to keep officers
on all sides of me. Like they’ve been trained to when faced with a slightly damp
journalist wielding a G7 media handbook.

I decided to reward their vigilance with a chat about HSBC. The chairman of the
troubled banking giant, Douglas Flint, is a regular attendee at Bilderberg, and he’s
heading here again this year, along with a member of the bank’s board of directors,
Rona Fairhead. Perhaps most tellingly, Flint is finding room in his Mercedes for the
bank’s busiest employee: its chief legal officer, Stuart Levey.

A Guardian editorial this week branded HSBC “a bank beyond shame” after it
announced plans to cut 8,000 jobs in the UK, while at the same time threatening to
shift its headquarters to Hong Kong. And having just been forced to pay £28m in
fines to Swiss regulators investigating money-laundering claims. The big question,
of course, is how will the chancellor of the exchequer, George Osborne, respond to
all this? Easy – he’ll go along to a luxury Austrian hotel and hole up with three
senior members of HSBC in private. For three days.

High up on this year’s conference agenda is “current economic issues”, and without
a doubt, one of the biggest economic issues for Osborne at the moment is the
future and finances of Europe’s largest bank. Luckily, the chancellor will have plenty
of time at Bilderberg to chat all this through through with Flint, Levey and Fairhead.
And the senior Swiss financial affairs official, Pierre Maudet, a member of the
Geneva state council in charge of the department of security and the economy. It’s
all so incredibly convenient.

Yet it doesn’t sit easily with Osborne’s intention, which he trumpeted five years
ago, shortly after taking office, “to implement the most radical transparency
agenda the country has ever seen”. What he’s doing this week in Bavaria is about
as transparent as an alp.

I’d got about as far as the 8,000 job cuts when I was finally allowed to go free. An
utterly ridiculous 35-minute ID check. I would have been more furious but I was
starting to get into the swing of my lecture. The searchlight was lowered and they
waved me off into the night. “But wait, I haven’t even got as far as Henry Kissinger
being questioned for war crimes …”

Investigative journalist Tony Gosling told RT the Bilderberg conference tries to “make sure it's as difficult
as possible to cover the meetings.” He says the mainstream media are actually part of the group.

“We're given the minimum information and it's very high security. There are thousands of police and security
services in Austria keeping journalists away. The reason journalists don't often go is because their bosses are
there and want the secrecy. You're not going to upset your boss by trying to break their vow of silence,”
Gosling said. “We've got around about 20-22 media barrens in there. These are generally controlled private
media corporations, senior editors, managers or owners of the big media corporations and they are actually
the fourth-largest contingent at Bilderbergs. They are not far behind the bankers and the politicians and the
owners of big industry. Essentially, media has become something so you can buy and sell,” he added.

“forum for informal discussions” held by the world's top brass, has drawn fire from protesters gathered near
the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol in Austria, accusing the attendees of corruption and elitism.

After a rally on Friday, anti-Bilderberg activists re-emerged on Saturday afternoon to protest what many of them
refer to as a gathering of criminals. Thousands of protesters are expected to assemble outside the hotel where
the Bilderberg group meeting is taking place.

“What we have seen is a very tight police cordon. It has been very difficult for many people to get to this area.
Some journalists have been subject to rather humiliating police tactics,” RT's Peter Oliver reported.

Some like it hot, but those gathered for the Bilderberg meeting in Austria seem to prefer it “top secret.” According
to the published agenda, a total of around 140 participants from 22 countries have confirmed their attendance this
year, including German Defense Minister Ursula van der Leyen, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, UK
Chancellor George Osborne and former President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, just to name a
few. One of its past participants is the former managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique
Strauss Kahn, accused of sexual assault by a New York hotel maid in 2011.

The key rule of participation is the so-called “Chatham House Rule”, which states that while attendees are free to use
the information received, “neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s) nor of any other participant may be revealed.”

A 50-kilometer safety zone has been created and two checkpoints set up around the event to ensure the safety of the
influential guests. Up to 2,100 officers from all over Austria will be on duty, along with 300 German police officers,
should an emergency occur during the four-day conference.

American journalist Rob Dew, news director at Infowars, told RT his crew suffered from what he called “police brutality.”

“At the beginning they were very brutal and rude to us. They saw we're from Texas, pulled us out of the car and searched
us. So the next time we go to the checkpoint we start video taping because that's what we do in America – when we're
feeling tyranny, we start video taping. And we actually went to the police station live on Skype during the Alex Jones show
and confronted them because they were calling our hotel manager asking where we were, when we're going to be back.
We were fed up with it because we'd already shown them our papers and we have nothing to hide, but we're not going
to take humiliation.”

According to the published agenda, the Bilderberg conference will discuss a range
of issues – from artificial intelligence and chemical weapons threats to the US
elections and European strategy regarding Iran, Russia and NATO.

A replica of Magna Carta is being carried down the Thames as part of events to
mark its 800th anniversary.The Royal Barge Gloriana is leading 200 boats from
Hurley in Berkshire to Runnymede in Surrey over two days.Magna Carta was
granted by King John on 15 June 1215, establishing that the king was subject to
the law rather than being above it.

Twenty-three local people have been chosen as "charter bearers" to relay the document.
