Hello Everyone: Everytime you read the news you come up with more political correctness. Now it's the Confederate Flag which has been part of history and now companies are banning it! What a shame. If the powers that be are so afraid of a "Flag" then something must be sparking their fright!
I personally like the looks of the Confederate Flag. It's a really nice Flag!

(CNN)eBay will ban the sale of Confederate flag merchandise, the auction site announced Tuesday, in a decision that follows in the steps of major retailers like Walmart and Sears.
"We have decided to prohibit Confederate flags, and many items containing this image, because we believe it has become a contemporary symbol of divisiveness and racism," eBay spokesperson Johnna Hoff said in an email to CNN. "This decision is consistent with our long-standing policy that prohibits items that promote or glorify hatred, violence and racial intolerance."

A decade after the end of the Civil War, a veteran of the Confederate States of America examines a Union water bottle in front of a Confederate flag in 1875. Here's a look at the evolution of that flag:
The first national flag of the Confederate States of America was created in 1861 and had seven stars to represent the breakaway states South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas.
The second National Flag of the Confederacy was issued by the Confederate Congress on May 1, 1863. This flag was designed to have a distinct difference from the Union's Stars and Stripes.
The third National Flag of the Confederacy was the final flag of the Confederate government and was adopted on March 4, 1865. The flag was not used long before the Confederacy surrendered.
The Confederate Battle flag known as the "Southern Cross" has 13 stars to represent the defeated Confederate States of America.
Dixiecrats resurfaced the "Southern Cross" flag as a political symbol around the time President Harry Truman supported efforts to end lynchings and desegregate the military in 1948. During that same period, the Ku Klux Klan began using the flag more widely.

Hoff added that the company continually monitors and evaluates its 800 million products on its site to ensure that they are "consistent with our core purpose."
The company's decision mirrors that of Walmart and Sears, which have also removed Confederate flag products from their stores.
The controversial flag has come under intense scrutiny following a racially motivated mass shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, that left nine African-Americans dead in a historic church. On Monday, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley also called on the Confederate flag to be taken down from the state's capitol grounds.
A spokesperson at Amazon did not respond to repeated requests from CNN on Monday and Tuesday about its sale of Confederate flag merchandise.

I would be surprised if they actually *do* take down that flag waving over the governmental buildings (it will require a 2/3rds majority vote by the same people that made the flag a permanent fixture never to be lowered in the first place), kind of like the tch tch, oh what a shame, a true martyr and hero/heroine, oh how dreadful, chatter we hear on gun control when someone prominent while white is shot.
I don't think it is any one story that is responsible for the velocity of change (if there is change) (I also think some folks would say change is a long time coming), rather the murder of several people by cops one after the other in swift succession, the exposure of blatant racism by cops citing/nickel/dime-ing various black communities for 40-80% of their police budgets, the ridiculous laws that enforce symbols of racism to be prominently and publically displayed in your face, the "funny" video of the ditsy but white girl getting away with trying to sell her drugs to the cops, the videos of pregnant women thrown to the ground and beaten, the Fox News quoting each other word for word it's a Christian hate crime, not a race hate crime, and this despite photographs and manifestos put on the net by the killer in question... etc. etc. etc.
ALL the above happened very recently. We're getting hammered by the evidence.
People shouldn't have to live in fear. I don't believe people who have suffered white privilege for generation upon generation, think it is with velocity and ease that change is made upon the bodies of their sons and daughters.
It's the actual video iPhone evidence that is pushing change, IMO.
In the communities where policemen have to wear video cameras on their chests, the complaints of racial police violence have dropped 80%. Woo hoo, and kudos, I say.
Now that is a change I like to see. :) :muscle::sun::thumbsup:

Are they attacking the flag or the rebel symbol I wonder?.. N
I think southerners fly the flag because they still think of themselves as southerners first, American citizens second. I don't think the flag has anything to do with slavery or racism, and everything to do with wishing they were successful during the Civil War. Looking at Washington today, I don't blame them a bit.

It could be a testing ground for taking away something else from a group within the US down the road. Maybe next time it could be something 'you' have a strong tie to is removed. Just to be clear, I do not have a connection to the confederate flag other then it's general history.
No doubt people are going to have different views an what it means to take down the confederate flag but I see a wider meaning behind the event. And as a thought I just had, is there a connection here with Jade Helm?

Of the next five presidents (#6-10), four owned slaves. Only two of them owned slaves while they were president.
Of the next five presidents (#11-15), two owned slaves. Both of these two owned slaves while they were president.
Of the next three presidents (#16-18) two owned slaves. neither of them owned slaves while serving as president.
The last president to own slaves while in office was the twelfth president, Zachary Taylor (1849-1850).
The last president to own slaves at all was the eighteenth president, Ulysses S. Grant (1869-1877)
So when.does it end ?
Several US presidents owned slaves while serving in office
Maybe they should remove those names attached to (Federal,State, local buildings Schools, parks ,monuments, Military assests ,currency) who owned slaves at any point in their public service.

The swastika was once used by many cultures as a symbol of peace. It was then used by the nazi's. Should Dusseldorf Germany have the Nazi flag flying over it's capitol since it's part of it's history?
Maybe the confederate flag used to be a "harmless" battle flag of the south. Unfortunately it turned into the symbol of the south's fight to keep slaves which then morphed into a symbol of white power. Don't give me the bull**** line that the war was over tariffs. The war was over slaves since it was a huge money maker. FREE LABOR!
Meanings change overtime. Gay used to mean happy. Fag used to be a slang word for cigarette. Why should the state government building fly the current symbol for white supremacy? We can argue that it doesn't have that connotation but the reality is that most perceive it as such. We have the freedom of speech to protect our personal use of such things but the state government should have more tact.
Why do people have such a strong connection to a symbol or object anyway? People matter. Connections matter. Feelings and emotions matter. A flag is just a symbol used to signify a group. It is used to create imaginary division between people. One day we will all throw away these archaic relics and realize that we are all one people.

I believe people who fly the Stars and Stripes as well as the Stars and Bars owned slaves and profited from the trade.
Some of the best institutions in the north came about because of slave trade.
Brown University was endowed with slave trade money to name one quickly. How long before we shut down that Ivy League school?
We bar the Stars and Bars because it is easy -- thinking that action will stop future shootings.
No it will not, but it's less painful than looking at what really leads kids to do this horrific crime.
All people have a right to self expression, the Constitution says government cannot impede on that right. Take away the Stars and Bars -- or a Nazi flag for that matter -- that's impeding on their rights for the sake of political correctness?
That's a slippery slope I do not wish to be on. Avalanche!

You're missing the point. The constitution protects our freedom of expression so if you want to paint a confederate flag on your hot rod then go for it. The issue is when the state government intentionally supports a symbol that many interpret as offensive. Yes it is part of history, so leave it in a museum where it belongs.

What truth? That the south committed slavery, and got their paws slapped, because they insisted half of the future states to be admitted to the union would be slave states (as in screw state sovereignty), and when told no, that wasn't going to happen, started a war of secession they resent they lost to this day? And the confederate flag waves while humans lynch, burn, rape, mutilate, drag a human behind a truck until their head falls off, set entire towns on fire, and kill the descendants of slavery during the ensuing post civil war centuries up to the present day by way of our glorious Federal, state, and local institutions of justice (for all) that are supposed to serve and protect?
The lowest common denominator (rebel flag waving cretins with no interest in history because they *are* rebel flag waving cretins with no interest in history) is not what is needed to control our institutions.
Fricking Archons...
Who is taught to think this way, despite the terrible evidence out there of the killing, murderous damage this way of thinking causes, generates, and perpetuates? There is a CODE, a CONNECTION, an AGREEMENT, by way of that atrocious symbol of selfish depravity that is used to gather energy for acts of hatred, and it is crystal clear, transparently obvious, that is what the flag is used for today. Flying that flag over public institutions of justice, gives tacit consent to cruelty and abuse.
It always comes down to the individual, and the individual's choice. And that choice can be limited or removed by family and community dynamics.
Just good 'ol rebel teenage boys waving the flag becuz it's history, getting together for a night of drinking and fun. Momma makes sandwiches, Poppa fills the tanks of the truck and beer keg, loads up the ropes, gasoline, Gramma parses a blessing on the endeavors, and the boys, simply brimming over with excitement, Archontic hatred, layered over excremental paralyzing fear that must be hidden at all costs (one must do this, it is required to become a "manly man"), are on their way. What a ghastly choice. What a ghastly fate. What ghastly family, and community dynamics. I can just imagine the ostracism, and isolation that goes with bucking a system so entrenched by distorted historical emphasis, pride, and shame.
It is an infectious, Archontic generational pattern. I know people born into these kinds of families who have fought back, determined they will not treat their fellow human beings as lesser than themselves. It's not as if prejudice, and racial hatred are terminal diseases, one can observe, diagnose, treat, and heal one's self.
Update:
Zoolife: Ban it? Ban what? Slavery? Yes, you are correct. I read a book "Quick and Dirty Guide to War" that talks about wars around the globe. Virtually all of these wars go back centuries, and the descendants of the descendants just keep on fighting the same wars.
Witness the ongoing civil war, and its Archontic fallout, here. Flying the confederate flag continually triggers Archontic behavior.
It always comes down to the individual, and the individual's choice. One by one, the world is here, and we are here, for just that purpose, to make aware, better, thinking, heartfelt choices as we hopefully grow in wisdom.
Flying the Confederate flag at public institutions is not a wise choice nor is it a right, in my honest opinion. It sends the wrong message, world wide.
At home, have at it. It is within your "rights", after all.
Just my .02. :)

This has been an interesting thread and topic to say the least! I have lived in the south and found it to be a Fantastic place with extremely hospitable people, culture, traditions and pride! I never saw anything that the Confederate Flag flying has supposedly caused. I saw prejudices but not from flying the Confederate Flag.
I have travelled many places in the world and have seen prejudiced attitudes in many places and lands. It's not because of a Flag! It's because of human attitudes and cultures.
The southern people deserve great repect in my opinion! I count many, many, many people that live there whether black or white or mulatto (half black and half white)

I guess you didn't read my statement about the politics of the time. Easy to research. The South was pushing that every other future state WOULD be a slave state, regardless of other states rights to choose what would fly over their state capitols.
Rights for one, then rights for all. Only fair.

OK, if you want to roll back history and look at the mid 1800's in America, then you have to look at the banksters. The Civil War was not about slavery, it was about the banksters getting control of the money supply. How do the banksters do anything at all? Well, they create divisiveness and wars which creates debt and then they foreclose! Simple as that.
So, if you "think" the black man got emancipated, THINK AGAIN! The United States ceased to exist, the Reconstruction Act turned it into a corporation, and IT WENT BANKRUPT and into receivership to the banksters, and the 14th amendment MADE ALL OF US SLAVES.
YES, you are a slave, and as brother Jonas says, "we are all niggers now", or as Russell Means was famous for saying, god rest his soul, welcome to the reservation. Through genocide, imperialistic raping and pillaging of resources, both natural and human, the bankster pirates stole this country, stole all of its resources, and made us all slaves.
Forget about the symbols of the memes of belief that the alien psychopathic interloping murderous banksters use to entrain your mind! Geez, the Spanish Flu was an engineered virus which wiped out over 100 million people, on the heals of the first World War, which 50 million people died, and the banksters still get to control planet earth, while we argue and fight over a stupid flag?
Just because they no longer need to hold a gun to your head or round you up in the plains and shoot your whole tribe to get you to submit, you WILLINGLY give ALL OF YOUR ENERGY over to the slave system for scraps thrown to you from the kings table, which they take away any time they want, murdering MILLIONS any time they want, and WE STILL SERVE THEM AND BEG THEM TO LEAD US.
I can't even leave the house without my hip waders on the bullsh!t is so thick these days.

‘An icon of a hit 1970s-era comedy has been reduced to a symbol of overt racism by thought and speech police who are
seeking to get Americans’ minds right through demonization and attacks on the First Amendment.
Now, it seems, the famous orange Dodge Charger of Dukes of Hazzard fame is “racist” because it is named the

“the Confederate flag” – on its top.
Warner Bros., the distributor for The Dukes of Hazzard, announced this week that it will no longer sell products
that feature the most popular version of Confederate military flags, joining a bevy of other retailers who have
also pledged to stop selling related merchandise.’

As a military history buff , the American civil war is of interest and reasons for the
split is more complicated than just slavery.Which I totally condemn in all it ancient
and modern forms, and am very proud that it was people from my birthplace that
was one of the first to petition Parliament to abolish slavery. This was a reflection of
the many Somerset men sold into bondage in the West Indies after the Battle of
Sedgemoor just outside Bridgwater in 1685.

‘Three prisoners—Melvin Ray, James Pleasant and Robert Earl Council—who led work stoppages in
Alabama prisons in January 2014 as part of the Free Alabama Movement have spent the last 18
months in solitary confinement. Authorities, unnerved by the protests that engulfed three prisons
in the state, as well as by videos and pictures of abusive conditions smuggled out by the movement,
say the men will remain in solitary confinement indefinitely.
The prison strike leaders are denied televisions and reading material. They spend at least three days
a week, sometimes longer, in their tiny isolation cells. They eat their meals while seated on steel toilets.
They are allowed to shower only once every two days despite temperatures that routinely rise above 90 degrees.’

I think the good people of South Carolina are the only ones who get to choose what sits atop their capital.
And for all those who still believe the Civil War was about slavery you should read some primary source material of the time and not rely on the fantasy that you were taught in school.
I guess you didn't read my statement about the politics of the time. Easy to research. The South was pushing that every other future state WOULD be a slave state, regardless of other states rights to choose what would fly over their state capitols.
Rights for one, then rights for all. Only fair.

By 1860 the South was the 4th largest economy in the world (if you broke it out).
Through broken agreements that you cite Missouri Compromise and Bloody Kansas incident, the Southern crop brokers and bankers were doing their funding increasingly more with banks in London and Paris.
Barings Bank and Rothschild banks in Paris and London were the primary bankers and brokers on cotton sales in Europe.
Despite Europe's views that slavery was an abomination, these bankers let it be known that they could fund a war with the North in order to keep trade markets open.
Once northern bankers heard of this plan in late 1860, which was confirmed by Lincoln's ambassador to London at the time the war was on.
The Civil War has more to do with the closing of the second Bank of the US in the 1830s -- and European banks losing their influence in the States -- than the hatred of slavery.
Naturally after the South began losing battles and a blockade successfully halted cotton shipments to Europe, the South was on its own. And the endgame played out.

The same people that want to remove the Confederate flag also want to remove the stars and stripes, make no mistake this is about destroying culture, heritage and national identity.
Yup, and it would be very hypocritical of the U.S. to remove the association with slavery from our culture, since it is the most important driving force of our heritage, the defining point of our national identity.

Well said. But...... The reason the South was such a powerhouse of the economic sector is that it had access to free labor. So in a round about way the war WAS about slavery. Whether the North was driven by ambitions of "equaling the playinfield" or out of a compassionate viewpoint towards his fellow man, the end result was the abolishment of slavery.
From that point the flag was used as a "Ya we lost but we are still the South" kinda thing. During the civil rights movement it took on yet another meaning "We are white and we unite". From there various white supremacy groups have used it to signify "we hate blacks". And so on and so forth. I understand that some people do not see this flag as having these types of meanings. I think if you really dig into your soul honestly you will have to admit that the meaning to many screams "white power".
So today: Why should the State government fly this flag? It doesn't even carry the same meaning as was intended. At best it ignores the current meaning, at worst it condones it.
The Georgian people will decide through pressure on their state legislature. We shall see how it plays out.

<wading through the fourteenth amendment and the reconstruction clauses, gawd what a political flip flop mess>
Another slave economy that was an economic powerhouse, was Haiti, the richest colony in the world. Haiti supplied France with literally, 50% of her annual income in the 18th century.
Haiti, once called The Jewel of the Antilles, was the richest colony in the entire world. Economists estimate that in the 1750s Haiti provided as much as 50% of the Gross National Product of France. The French imported sugar, coffee, cocoa, tobacco, cotton, the dye indigo and other exotic products. In France they were refined, packaged and sold all over Europe. Incredible fortunes were made from this tiny colony on the island of Hispaniola.
How could Haiti have once been the source of such wealth and today be the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere? How could this land that was once so productive today be semi-barren? How did "The Jewel of the Antilles" become the Caribbean's hell-hole?
http://www2.webster.edu/~corbetre/haiti/misctopic/leftover/whypoor.htm
After Haiti revolted (and won her revolution), her economic status slid down to her current status, the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.
No one would do business with Haiti after the revolution. I guess Haiti "won", but it was a Pyrrhic victory that has lasted centuries.
Who intends we be separated, at war with each other, though waged for the most part now, on the economic and biosphere fronts?

He says it much better than I did, and with more respect. (I apologize Chancy, mgray. I got overheated. This is a tense, and frustrating subject for me. I could only see one aspect of pride in the flag, and not the other, which now is becoming visible and real to me. What a conundrum ... I must admit, as a Californian I am proud of our Grizzly Bear flag, which is not associated in people's minds with the genocide committed by legal bounty hunters authorized by the first Governor of California on the native Indian tribes.) (Etc.)
I lived in E. Palo Alto for some years, a poverty stricken black community. It was policed by a force of 24 men, on three shifts. When I lived there, it was called the murder capital of California, at least one killing a week. Every few years, all the surrounding police forces in the SF Bay Area, seconded a percentage of their forces, to clean up the violence.
It was the friendliest place I have ever lived (which has ranged from Elite neighborhoods to the above... ), though you had to keep your eyes peeled for the violent ones, lost in Archontic misery.
Hopefully the community is doing better now, their tax base anchored by IKEA, and Home Depot. And after they won the lawsuit initiated by Palo Alto (one of the richest communities in the U.S.) who tried a greedy land grab, they leased the disputed land, to a hotel consortium, who have built a Four Seasons Hotel.
An economic battle round won... :sun::Party::sun:

‘America’s descent into a totalitarian regime of hysterical thought police is nearly complete.
In just the last 72 hours, total P.C. insanity has swept the nation and all its big retailers as
howling leftist maniacs have used the label “tolerance” to initiate what can only be called a
modern-day book burning and Orwellian censorship of artistic expression:
• A leftist movie critic and member of the new thought police regime has called for banning
the movie Gone With the Wind, stating in pure P.C. babbledygook: “The more subtle racism
of ‘Gone with the Wind’ is in some ways more insidious, going to great lengths to enshrine
the myth that the Civil War wasn’t fought over slavery — an institution the film unabashedly
romanticizes.”‘

CNN Reporter Dumbfounded as Black College Student Defends the Confederate Flag

‘Divide and conquer has been the most successful strategy used by humans to attain and
maintain power since ancient times. The concept is simple and effective in that those being
ruled are too busy fighting amongst themselves to be capable of taking a step back and
seeing the bigger picture. The bigger picture is that they are being intentionally played.
This strategy is being quite effectively employed by the American oligarchy against the
American population. While racism and associated violence certainly still exist, as we
recently saw in the South Carolina tragedy, this remains a marginal issue compared to
the relentless, systemic and daily oligarch oppression against hundreds of millions of people.’

Sooo,, let me get this straight... if we ban the Confederate flag,, we somehow end racism???
???
How much death and ruin is being caused RIGHT NOW by folks flying an American flag? I imagine that maybe if we are going to ban flags, we should ban them all!!! What the American flag means to Americans is NOT what it means to the rest of the world... In fact, the American flag was raised on the back of genocide. What do you figure the American flag means to American indians?
If we are going to ban flags,, I say we start with the National flag... it is deceptive and devistating and is soaked with the blood of millions... it has come to represent war, death, deception, and racism... And is a reminder to all that America is a RESERVATION, ruled over by controllers!
I am from the south, and had a rebel flag (yes it is a rebel flag) until folks threatened to burn down our house!! I don't have a racist or violent bone in my body.. The rebel flag always represented my dislike of the federal government, and my support for STATE RIGHTS... That is what it means to alot of folks.. You aint gonna hear that on yer news...
The only folks in my personal life who didn't like the rebel flag were some pretty ****ty violent people who would burn me to the death!!!
I dont fly the flag any more... not because it is racist,, lol,, but because people are violent and shiity.... .
in the freest country under the sun,,, we should not be banning anyones flag,, that seems pretty Nazi to me...

I can agree with you Jake. I'm definitely not for banning the flag. I enjoy freedom (of all types) and don't want to be told what I can and can't do personally. Although I don't like the confederate flag or the nazi flag, I wouldn't want laws put in place banning them under penalty of law.
I just don't think it needs to be flying over State buildings. Plain and simple.
Walmart, Ebay, Amazon, etc. are removing these items based on their own free will in order to avoid backlash. Similar things have happened in the past like Walgreen stopping the sale of cigarettes. Companies are always trying to mold their identity.

Hate Crime? Professor calls for arresting Americans who display Confederate flag
By ickonic on 12th July 2015

‘In the weeks since the horrific mass shooting at a historic black church in South Carolina
that killed nine people there has been an increasingly Orwellian move to remove and ban
all things connected to the Civil War South.
From removing the Confederate flag from state grounds to possibly renaming thousands of
parks, roads, and landmarks across the country, the idea of erasing and sometimes rewriting
history has swept the nation.
While most can agree that removing a flag that many African-Americans see as a symbol of
hate and oppression is the right thing to do, the hard left isn’t stopping there and has now
crossed the line into straight up authoritarian thought police.’

The Flag or the symbol has nothing to do with it other than the O admin is using it to spread racism, hate and discontent. That Flag is a battle flag that Virginia created during the Civil war. The True southern Flag was alot different, It was 1 white star on blue and red and white bars. So this dumb crap that the Corporate USA Inc and its minions The Rev Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are just using this particular flag as I said a battle flag to stur up division in this country because a false flag was pulled off in Charleston. No different than Ferguson and Baltimore. And just look how quick the Lame stream media pushed it and ell the sheeple jumped on it so quick. They are destroying our heritage and culture just as fast as they can. Don't you just love this gov'mt and how they protect us so well?

The Ukraine...which is been taken over by open nazi's, fascists, and hard core racists. Not just any kind but actual genocidal racism... in acts of pure racial hatred.
so, on one side, they support the removal of the confederate flag as it weakens the US groups who are looking to not be part of the NWO.
The NWO which is trying to get the USA to capitulate, who are trying to destroy the fabric of the USA, with massive levels of human influx..and the same group who supports the racist genocidal oligarchs of the Ukraine.
