So Paula, what I have outside my window are field poppies? I didn't know - I took their pictures yesterday and a few days earlier (most recent has two blooms; earlier has the unopened blossom that has bloomed in the second photo).

But mine only have four petals - I labelled them "the simplest poppies".

4 spots, 4 petals, very orderly. You can also see that though the petals cover each other sideways, in this case, they don't go as far as to hide the other one's spot.
