A lot of people will think he is just crazy,
but I think we can learn a lot from him.

The things that Wim Hof is capable
of are scientifically viewed as impossible.

It's all about influencing the body with the mind.

A short documentary about "Iceman". Using breathing techniques he has defied science. Sitting in ice water for almost 2 hours, activating his immune response and intentionally increasing his adrenaline. He claims that anyone can do these things using his technique. Within 1-2 days you can measurably see the results.

I have yet to do the breathing techniques but figured I'd share. I plan on giving it a try. If anyone tries and wants to share their experience, I'd love to hear some personal testimonies.

My mother and I do this whenever we can. Glacier-fed water is irresistible!

I haven't been sick in years. Kundalini yoga uses this sort of technique.

I'm a 40yr. smoker but my lung capacity is phenomenal...

But this guy takes the cake!

Very interesting. The yoga technique Ernie is mentioning is called 'The breath of fire', the "Iceman" seems to work on the same physiology

I've tried his breathing method, once you do it you will feel "funny". :)

Here (http://www.highexistence.com/the-wim-hof-method-revealed-how-to-consciously-control-your-immune-system/) is the technique.

A while back daily cold showers were routine for me. A detoxification program called for hydrotherapy, alternating hot and cold water. Try standing under a very cold stream of water without screaming! HAHA. I had to tell the kids not be concerned when they heard me yelling and grunting. Certainly did feel invigorated afterward.

This program sounds unique and quite interesting. Thanks!

I do deep breathing and body meditation. The above is a bit close to the Breath of Fire from Kundalini Yoga but without postures. Deep breathing alone can bring on the rising of the Kundalini energy. Holding of the breath activates body blocks in the chakras. Useful but needs proper regulation. If you block you must unblock before finishing your routine.

I like this simplified version of breath and empowerment from Wim as it is direct and involves you becoming involved, believing in your own innate ability to energize your body and control, direct your mind.

By the way, this next bit is for the few of you who inadvertently wasted money on a "special" type of training. If you do not know who this is about then there is something here for you also........

Breath of Fire is not from Kundalini Yoga, remembering that someone used that word to describe not any real yoga, but an invented one, one almost always guaranteed "not to raise your kundalini". BoF is from Yoga itself, not a bastardized, ad hoc version from an evil soul, or as those of us who are Gurusikhs, who knew "the most corrupt man on the planet"-yogi bhajan's own words to a friend of mine, experienced. I hope you would know the difference, yet I would not apologize for the lies of others.

BoF is also a natural exercise that those of us who explore breath have used along with many other breath exercises. My life-long advice is to mix and match whatever technique you explore on your own. By the way, if you were conned into believing that learning yb's k.yoga teacher's training is worth anything more than a waste of your money and discernment i would ask you to look deeper and embrace your own intuition, your own creativity and do at least a little internet search on the matter of a teacher's lack of integrity, crimes against women, lawsuits against, etc.,etc., etc.,etc....

I recently met a police officer new to a nearby city who quickly recognized that I was a sikh. He said that one of the 3 letter agencies briefed the police department he was previously in about the sikhs and said not to worry, that they weren't terrorists, they are criminal thieves, at least those close to the fakir/yogi and some of the businesses he was involved in. (I can say that most outside of the close loop, except for their criminal telemarketers, are honest folks.) This officer's details to me of some of the crimes that fake yogi and his underlings committed was a surprise even to me, aside from as much as I had endured and heard from others. We became fast friends, not because of the truths we both knew but because he had no filter to block telling the truth.

This matters to me as a teacher because some of the so-called yoga sets that man taught had nothing to do with the effects promised. My younger brother, a former sikh, and I used to trade all of the silly, b.s., promises we could find if you did this technique, or that set, or this breath, or that meditation, all worthless script from many others and that 'donkey' (yb.'s words to me once about himself), no insult to donkeys intended. So..........leave the expectations behind and discover the power you inherently have been born with.

The yoga set is your yoga set.
The breath is your breath.
The exploration is the magic you invent.

Breath is the beginning opening, the Door/the Dwaaraa, and beyond. If you want to control your mind start with your Breath and listen/soonee-eh to the universe within.
Praan, UhPaan, Sushmuhnaa...... Pruh-saad.
Energy, Elimination, The Central Channel.....Grace.

From one of the few who was there to be with friends, but who couldn't stand the corruption, leaving with the Guide in my own Home, in my own heart, responsible for my own life, connected and not isolated in the lies or the empty rituals of human subservience.
From one of the few who stood up and was counted,
Hym

I have been doing wim hof 100 breaths, breathing routine for about 6 months now. Also started a wim hof breathing routine with pushups. Started off doing 20 push-ups while holding breath & made my way to 50 push-ups on one breath in less than a month. My wife also started the 100 breath routine just recently as an intro to meditation. Can say that we have both benefited immensely from Mr. Hof’s techniques. Highly recommended to those that are interested in improving their health & expanding awareness.

I came across this fellow on you tube. I work in the water for six months out of the year so I figured I had nothing to lose

with this method you are supposed to be able to;

Withstand extreme cold and heat

Hold your breath for long periods of time

suppress immune responses

I just completed my winter challenge of taking only cold showers. It hurt bad some days. Didn't use any hot water... I guess it never dropped below 13 degrees celsius here so nowhere near as cold as Canada or Europe, but I have no heating in the house. I noticed I gradually got acclimatized to cold. The only pain is washing the soap off. It takes ages. It's cloying and annoying and nearly impossible to get off your skin. I now allow 45 minutes for my daily shower. Maybe 5 minutes hot water to get the soap off might be useful.

Cold showers are like a mini-daily baptism. Totally invigorating on every level.

There is so much right about the method that Wim shares and the way he shares it that engages TRUE HEALING. I would not compare those methods with any other system or dogma because comparison misses the value of the methods altogether. Just sit up and do it with the knowledge that going slowly and gradually adapting the basics of these methods is the safest way to use them. You will create your own healing with the highest success I am aware of.

With these techniques Wim connects the emotional content of living with the balance of internal and external movement, a state of really living a full and enjoyable life. This is living a life with the fullness of Love. I see it as stepping out of your shadowself and living with the real person you are. Engaging the wholeness of your being with methods like this removes the layers of illusion that any outside influence has upon our lives.

If you notice where Wim's intention goes, it goes to Us, to We, to everyone. He is not bound by the constraints of the often misunderstood word called ego. He puts his intention into the demands of simply going into the cold where the mind becomes still. In this quiet our intentions control our bodies. The activity of doing such dynamic physical movements in the warmth of the cold requires the focus on only doing the breathing, thus pushing every automatic/autonomic system to respond to our thoughts.

Notably so, these things are the things that animals do all of their lives. Still, it is the odd thing about humans that disconnects them from their humanity when they don't follow their instincts and simply control their minds, their wholeness and the rhythm of their hearts by actively controlling their breathing while in the presence of water.

I have shared some of my own similar habits here on Avalon, not a single one invented by me, except that I, like everyone who does anything like this, naturally invent the variations I create whenever I do them. You will make your own with methods engaging your thoughtful breathing with cold immersion. Your willpower will automatically be engaged and it is then that you begin to control your health.

I do now and have for many years done this same cold water Ishnaan, this Misogi, a real prayer of engaged living with the wholeness of my being. It is, and has been, a powerful method of many cultures from the very beginning of the ancestral time of their awakening as caretakers here. I appreciate that Wim and other like-hearted teachers share these methods, spanning so many cultures for so many eons across the mark of the times that humans have been living here.

I live a balanced life when I express myself in movement. I do it when I sing a song that moves me. I listen to the whisper of the music my breath makes when I dance. I prepare for that connection when I practice these same things in the presence of colder waters.

I break thru to the angels and demons that listen within the airs when I push the painful feelings out and away from my heart. Those archons are a reflection of my experience, another shadow of the self that exists only in the discord where and when Love does not live.

From the times of my earliest memories these things have been my comfort and the brightness of my being, Alive...

I just started Wim's Fundamentals course, but have using the breathing techniques for several days. It really works! Using these breathing techniques I already have more energy and can do more physical work without strain or stress.

I shoveled a lot of snow today in a hawaiian shirt. It was slightly below freezing with the wind chill. The neighbor lady was worried that I could harm myself so I had to explain to her why I was not crazy and told her about Wim Hof.

I then decided to build a snow sculpture so I took off my clothes, donned my bathing suit (cuz I didn't want to get arrested :-) and had some fun. I did find that I needed to wear boots and gloves, but I was able to stay out for another half hour with bare skin while it snowed and the wind blew. Fantastic! I didn't even get cold using the breathing techniques.

I am seventy something with not very desirable genetics, but after having employed liver/gallbladder flushes, colon cleanses, fasting, ketogenic diet and exercise, I am actually growing younger. I used to weigh 250 pounds but with a healthy ketogenic diet, intermittent fasting (aka time-restricted eating) and a couple five-day fasts, I lost seventy pounds and for the most part my skin shrunk, too! And I didn't even get hungry on the ketogenic diet.

I'll keep posting my progress here as I think Wim Hof's discoveries, which have been scientifically/medically validated, deserves attention.

And more importantly, anyone can learn to do what he does and get healthier in a very short amount of time.

Here's a really good interview with "The Iceman":

Funny you should post this, Truman, I had the same thing happen to me this morning.

We ended up with a good bit of snow last night, so I decided to use the Wim Hof method and shovel the driveway in my basketball shorts. I felt energized and refreshed even after about forty minutes, and my neighbor from down the street came over a bit concerned.

It’s super effective, when done properly, and when done with enough previous practice. The breathing made me lightheaded at first, but it’s something you have to practice and build up.

Thanks, James. Yes, by all means, start gradually. And it's also important not to overdo it because some people have passed out when doing it. BE SAFE: So it is very important for people not to do it in water or while driving, etc.

The idea is to take in more air than you exhale. The diaphram should go down and the belly go out when inhaling to fill up the lungs as much as possible. Exhale is just relaxation without pushing.

I used the video below to get started but I stopped when I felt I was overdoing it. However, in a couple days I could do three rounds of it with no problem with deep breathing:

This video is so wonderful. Thank you for posting it! I have shared it with a bunch of people. I studied Re-Birthing years ago and was a big advocate of the method, enjoying many profound experiences with trainers and on my own. I have not practised it now for many years, having explored many other things on the way. This man has taken re-birthing (introduced to the west by Leonard Orr and Sondra Ray, via Babaji) and expanded it into a profound healing modality. A very inspiring short film.

Hey guys!
I wanted to share Dan Brule with you, another Champion of the breath. He really made me aware of the multidimensionality of breath, after I thought I already knew it all. In his training he also incorporates Wim‘s method, I think they know each other.
He was also one of the original re-birthers and close friends of its founder Leonard Orr.
Here is the first interview with him that I listened to and that really blew my mind.

There are some threads about Wim Hof but I came across some videos today that would make good additions to what is already here.

https://www.lifehack.org/371971/9-reasons-why-everybody-should-know-who-wim-hof

Who Is Wim Hof?

One superhuman that has caught my attention is Wim “Iceman” Hof. Wim has garnered global fame for his ability to embrace freezing temperatures that routinely send victims into hypothermia. He has run bareback marathons in subzero temperatures, climbed the highest mountains on the planet shirtless, and proven to science that he can control his autonomic nervous system with his mind.

Interested yet? We are just getting started.

9 Facts About Wim Hof

He climbed Mt. Everest in shorts. Though he never experienced a hint of hypothermia or altitude sickness, Wim surpassed 22,000 feet before a lingering foot injury halted his ascension.

He submerged himself in ice for almost two hours without his core body temperature lowering a degree and broke a world record. Who holds the record for the second- and third-longest attempts? Wim himself.

He completed a marathon in the Namib Desert without water. Temperatures surpassing 104 degrees Fahrenheit and losing over fourteen pounds of water water didn’t discourage him from finishing this amazing feat. Apparently he does alright in the heat too!
Dressed in nothing by shorts, he completed a full marathon north of the arctic circle in less than six hours.

He reached the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895 meters) in less than 32 hours. And yes, he did it in shorts. Who has time for altitude acclimation anyway?

He eats just once a day, past 6 pm, and has done so for 38 years. Wim claims that this alleviates stress on his body by not having to process excess food. He’ll only cheat and have breakfast on days when he breaks a record.

He swam over 80 meters below an ice shelf north of the arctic circle with one breath. Yes, that’s right — over 250 feet in -30 degree water in one breath. No big deal.

He can take control of his autonomous nervous system. This startling discovery was found by researchers after they attempted to refute his claims by inviting him into into the labs. He was injected with an endotoxin that causes people to get severely sick within minutes.

But that was not the case with Wim. Researchers found that the endotoxin didn’t affect him in the slightest, and credited this to his unique ability to harness control over his autonomous nervous system.

He claims that anyone can be like him. Wim teaches thousands of others to harness the strength of the breath, the importance of cold showers, and the practice of meditation. He offers a ten-week course encompassing his meditation practices, as well as numerous retreats and trips that he leads.

Anyone Can Do It

Perhaps the craziest of the facts about Wim Hof is it that he swears that anyone can experience life as he does — if they have the determination to learn.

This Will Revolutionize Our Future! 10 out of 10 People Activated It.

Can't wait to view your vid's Franny, very interesting.
back in the day when I was younger, I used to experiment a lot with different mind control and meditations.
Take 'Pain' for example, if you just except pain as pain, well it will hurt you, but if you get into the pain and break it down you will see it has sharp cold and worm blunt aspects to it.
So you can end up finding one part of the pain that is actually quite tolerable, even nice.
I also experimented with hot and cold, you can switch these input, warning singles around and vary them, but be careful, I got in a mess for awhile.
I over heated in winter, then swing'd the wrong way to in summer, was cold.
Not saying that is what Wim Hof dose's.
So going to watch tonight, thank you for the post Franny ;)

I have already posted this video in the thread that Bill linked to above. However, this one bears reposting.

After watching and listening to Wim Hof explain how to do the breathing in post #1 above, anyone can start doing the breathing with this Wim Hof guidance video, which he calls the "Breathing Bubble". This audio/visual guide is a very useful tool for beginners. This is how I and many others got started.

CAUTION: Always do the breathing exercise either lying down or sitting. Never in water, standing up or driving since people can sometimes overdo it and hyperventilate and pass out. If one does the breathing properly using both of Wim's videos then there should not be a problem. Wim cautions not to force it.

The Wim Hof Method really fits well in the Avalon Forum "where science and spirituality meet". Wim's abilities have been scientifically tested (https://www.wimhofmethod.com/science). It was first thought that Wim was just genetically unique but he has an identical twin brother who could not do what Wim could do. Furthermore, Wim has repeatedly demonstrated that he can teach his method to others and they, too, can demonstrate the same abilities.

I highly recommend the Wim Hof Method "Fundamentals" Course on his website, WimHofMethod.com (https://www.wimhofmethod.com/). It is a 10-week video course that gradually introduces a person to the cold, contains breathing exercises, cold water exercises, etc.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWN3IoznGQY

I am in the second week of the course and it is already changing my life in very positive ways. Fortunately, I have been singing and deep breathing using my diaphragm (which Wim calls "belly breathing") since the 70's. Also, I have been using deep breathing when riding my bicycles. So the breathing part came easily.

I used to dislike the cold but now I embrace it. After doing the cold showers I was able to stay outside for a half hour and build a snow sculpture in a bathing suit. I have been able to ride my bicycle without a shirt in freezing temperatures for three miles. My two-wheeled electric bike goes up to 19 mph so that's quite a wind chill as well. Fortunately, my nipples did not freeze, lol.

The breathing exercises can really put a smile on your face. Twice I have just broke out laughing after doing the breathing exercises--big belly laughs. I find that I smile more now and am more alive.

Of course, the Wim Hof Method is not just about deep breathing. There are two actions that make Wim's method different from simply breathing deeply:

1) Exhaling the air from the lungs after repeated deep breathing and then holding one's breath. This is the amazing part where you find out how long you can comfortably hold your breath with no air in your lungs! Wim explains that this alkalizes the blood so you don't have to breathe.

2) This is followed by fully inhaling and holding one's breath for 15 seconds.

There are three pillars to the Wim Hof Method: Breathing and Meditation, Cold Therapy & Committment. Here are the subjects covered each week in the course:

Go Deep
Stress Control
Energy Management
Inflammation
Endurance
Longevity
Under Pressure
Spirituality
Creativity
Life Adventure

Why are most Dutch so blunt & rude (https://www.thrillist.com/travel/nation/dutch-culture-brutally-honest-people) ?
VOexCpTHxLI

I hear often: The Netherlands is very "small" country ... yeah but did you know Belgium & Luxembourg were originally officially PART of The Netherlands but after the war with France (invasion) it all changed! ... Do you know that Manhattan was originally owned by The Dutch and called "New Amsterdam (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Amsterdam)" (look it up!) ... The Dutch Fleet (most are medium size sailing boats) was 3 times bigger than the British Fleet (but they had bigger slower boats) ... that explains why the "Dutch Global Colonization Effect" is easy to see: Most of Australia met The Dutch before the British ... Indonesia (and part of India) was part of The Dutch Kingdom ... Suriname was part of The Dutch Kingdom ... Parts of Canada had many Dutch Settlers (influences) ... South Africa was part of The Dutch Kingdom and I can go on and on and on ... Like did you know that Japanese for a long time ONLY wanted to trade with the Dutch VOC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_East_India_Company) (mostly Protestants) because they would not interfere in their culture like the Catholics want to do! ... The First Multinational Bank System Ever was created by the Dutch! ... So much that people do not realize!

The US Constitution (https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/constitution-transcript) & US Deceleration of Independence (https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/declaration-transcript) is mostly based/influenced upon the Dutch Principles:

The first constitution of the Netherlands as a whole, in the sense of a fundamental law (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution) which applied to all its provinces and cities, is the 1579 constitution, which established the confederal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederation) republic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic) of the Seven United Provinces (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_the_Seven_United_Provinces). The constitution was empowered by the Union of Utrecht (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_of_Utrecht), thus by treaty (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty). Article XIII of the treaty granted each inhabitant of the Republic freedom of conscience (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_conscience).

After the French invasion of 1794 the Batavian Republic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batavian_Republic), a unitary state (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitary_state), was proclaimed. On 31 January 1795 it issued a bill of rights (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_of_rights), the Verklaring der Rechten van den Mensch en van den Burger. On 1 May 1798 a new constitution, the first in the modern formal sense, the Staatsregeling voor het Bataafsche Volk, written by a Constitutional Assembly, went into force, approved by the National Assembly. The Napoleonic Kingdom of Holland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Holland), a constitutional monarchy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_monarchy), was established by the Constitutie voor het Koningrijk Holland on 7 August 1806.

Side note: Dutch William of Orange lived from 14 November 1650 to 8 March 1702. He became King William III of England and of Ireland on 22 January 1689, and King William II of Scotland on 4 April 1689, in each case ruling as joint monarch with his wife, Mary II, until her death on 28 December 1694, and then ruling as sole monarch.

All Americans with "Van" or "Van der" or "Van den" in their last names has Dutch roots (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_people)! (not to be confused with: "Von" which is German word for Van) ... Dutch word: "Van" means "from" and originally only used in The Netherlands for a long time.

How many know this?

The vid Truman posted here (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?109653-Wim-Hof-This-Will-Revolutionize-Our-Future-&p=1331147&viewfull=1#post1331147) is a bit too fast for my taste;
just reminding everyone that one can slow it down in the settings - i always do it with 75% of normal speed, which suits me better (and maybe you, too).

Here's a short video of Wim Hof in 1998. Maybe someone could translate?

17:15 enabled me to skip a couple of weeks in the program - had the urge to take a cold shower immediately.
No problem. How invigorating! Made me laugh (and enjoy it) while under the water...

It's really easy with Wim "commanding" it to be so; the real task for me is to do it "without Wim", within myself.

I recommend it for everyone to try it out. It's fun!

Here are the scientific experiments at the University Medical Center Saint Radboud that proves that the Wim Hof Method positively affects the immune system and reduces inflammation. After demonstrating that he could be injected with an endotoxin and not get sick, he trained several other men in just four days to be able to do the same thing.

Scientific literature said it was impossible, but Radboudumc researchers have now proven that it is possible voluntarily to influence both the autonomic nervous system and the immune system

In 2011 the same researchers monitored the response of Iceman Wim Hof's body to an endotoxin injection as he performed the techniques he had developed himself. It turned out that he produced half the amount of inflammatory proteins healthy volunteers did who did not master his method. Moreover, he hardly showed any influenza symptoms. It seemed that he could suppress his immune response through the autonomic nervous system. But since one finding in one individual does not constitute scientific evidence, the scientists decided to do a follow-up study. For that reason, in 2013, studies were performed on a group of young, healthy, male volunteers: and, indeed, it turns out they are able to influence both the autonomic nervous system and the immune system.

In this video Dr Mark Hyman and Dave Asprey talk about cold therapy and Dave explains why it works vis-a-vis mitochondria. Mark refers to the "the Iceman" (i.e., Wim Hof). It starts at about 20:30 into the video but the entire video is very interesting:

Just uploaded today:

RMIT University in Australia has conducted a survey study, exploring the motivation and experiences of Wim Hof Method practitioners worldwide. This will offer insight into

1) the positive impact of practicing the WHM on health & wellbeing and
2) any potential adverse effects, which in turn improves safety protocols.

started today with this breathing technique and have a hard time with holding in the breath as recommended. I have to work on it. Will start taking cold showers today also....we will see....

Thank you for starting this thread Franny. Great post.

All spiritual teachers talk also about on how important it is to breath right or to do certain breathing techniques. It is great to have some detailed instructions and guided videos on this. :sun:

Here Wim says it does not matter how to breath...through the nose or through the mouth. (Video 1)

I did hear something else on this and breath in by my nose imagine pure light goes into my body while breathing in, cleaning the inside of my whole body.

Then breathing out through the mouth and release all negative energies while doing this. I dont know if this is important, to do it this way. But this is how I did learn and pratice it. Just thought I let you know.

Hang in there, Whisper, you'll get the hang of it very soon. I started by just using the "breathing bubble" video. After about three weeks I am just doing it on my own.

As it turns out, I was already using the deep breathing technique on my bicycle using intensive interval exercise. Of course, I wasn't holding my breath like in Wim's breathing exercise, which must be done sitting or lying down for safety reasons. Anyone can use deep breathing at any time, however, when walking or exercising. I've been very comfortable walking around in short pants and a Hawaiian shirt (or shirtless) in freezing weather while deep breathing. I try to incorporate the deep breathing in my day to day life now.

According to the Mayo Clinic the average adult resting heart rate varies from 60 to 100. (Probably because most people don't exercise enough and they eat crappy food.) My resting heart rate is 44. After four rounds of Wim's breathing technique it goes down to 36.

Before there was Wim Hof, there was Maurice Daubard, a Frenchman who spent his teenage years bedridden in a village hospital with tuberculosis, chronic lung inflammation, and other illnesses. By his 20s, the doctors had given up. Daubard decided his only way to stay alive was to heal himself. He read books on yoga and taught himself a breathing technique called Tummo. Within a few months, he'd not only completely restored his health but also gained a superhuman strength.
On his off hours of working as a hairdresser he’d strip to his underwear and run barefoot through snowy forests. He immersed himself in ice from the neck down and sat there motionless for 55 minutes without suffering hypothermia or frostbite. Later, he ran 150 miles beneath the searing sun of the Sahara desert.
Daubard is now 90 years old. He still enjoys vibrant health, still practices yoga and breathwork, still leads workshops in the Italian Alps, where students join him in stripping down to underwear and sitting in the snow for an hour, then hike half-naked up mountains, and finish with a dip in an ice-covered alpine lake.
“The human is not only an organism . . . it is also a mind whose strength used wisely can allow us to repair our body when it wobbles,” said Daubard.
All this by just learning how to harness the air that moves in and out of the lungs--by just breathing.

A very similar but somewhat different method is Jinggong (Quiet Sitting). In pages 124-140 of the book Quiet Sitting by Chen Yingning and Jiang Weiqiao, it details how Jiang healed himself of pulmonary tuberculosis by prolonged practice in relative isolation. Jiang Weiqiao was one of several teachers for Wang Juemin, who in turn taught my instructor Michael Lomax.

While perhaps not as forceful as Wim's method, I have felt heat at the Dan Tien before during practice. One important aspect I have found is not simply putting awareness right at Conception Vessel 6 (Sea of Qi) during meditation, but actually placing awareness behind it within the body so as to engage the energetic up/down movement from the diaphragm and perineum.

Wim Hof and his breathing exercises are the beginning of a great journey. Documentary is a current understanding of the science on endogenous DMT plus intriguing crossovers to breathwork and the Wim Hof method.

A short section on this long video shows a mountaineer training for an ascent of Mount Everest using Wim Hof's techniques. I found it pretty interesting.

(And, amazingly, it seems Wim Hof himself made an Everest attempt dressed just in shorts.(!) According to his Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wim_Hof): Hof climbed to an altitude of 7,200 meters (23,600 ft) on Mount Everest wearing nothing but shorts and shoes, but aborted the attempt due to a recurring foot injury.)

Here's the video section. (No need to watch the whole thing!)

7:52—9:34. Just over a minute and a half. :)

Regarding breathing, in my youth I ran a lot, even (and, especially in cold weather growing up to 18 years in the mountainous area, apparently, then, the cold regulates my breathing simultaneously with the constant rhythm of movement); but related to breathing, I kept the rhythm of breathing together with the running step, the general enthusiasm was a general relaxation, for me, without a pattern, I breathed "through everything I could", in the absence of a scientific explanation, I enjoyed.

I could say (even jokingly) that I breathed through my ears or skin (that is, when I ran and felt the pleasure of continuing on the road, my breathing became natural); I was not interested in atmospheric pressure or wind, but I mostly inhaled through my nose and exhaled through my mouth, in exactly the step of running and that gave me even more strength and pleasure to run, I was a kind of "mechanical dynamo" device :) generating (from my own source) a magical energy, a kind of meditation, especially when apparently, I have the impression that oxygen is no longer important, up to a distant point when I heard myself occasionally breathing.
I ran long distances every night, and probably because of training, I ran more distance every night.

It was a kind of "food" full of "spiritual oxygen", a kind of adaptability of "survival on the go" (feeling the enormous effort outside of me) that contributes to the improvement of my general condition and especially a rare energetic exaltation, which now, "to old age" i can no longer reach it. At least not by running.

But it seems to me that training, tenacity and perseverance, really ensure any performance, especially since in these times we need more than ever to take good care of our bodies.:muscle:
