Here is a habit I've started with that seems to work very well, I call it "positive insurance":
Every time something bad happens in your life or something negative is coming your way, creatively find something you know would be great/positive to take care of or do, maybe something you've thought about doing but it has not happened yet, automatically do that without thinking - to counter the negative thing that just came your way. This is also a great way of un-stressing and un-learning the negative stuff that came your way, faster - and a great way of better avoiding negative stuff queuing up and to help neutralize the negative emotions.
In this way you know that every time something bad happens - no matter what it is - there is in a direct way truly coming something positive with it.
So the more unexpected negative things coming into your life without you asking for it, the more positive things come your way as a result.
And this one can be creative with! Every time something bad happens - whatever it is - find the MOST POSITIVE thing to take care of and DO THAT! And here is something even greater: Every time something bad happens to one of your friends - whatever it is - automatically do the most helpful thing you can do towards that person. Or every time something bad happens towards you at work or something you do not like, counter it by doing something positive you otherwise would not have done.
The long term effect I'm hoping for with this habit is simply that the (unexpected) negative things will gradually fade away more and more because of the positive insurances that have kicked in in the past.
What I'm saying behind the lines here is that life is not fun when sh$t piles up that you did not ask for and that you maybe could not even protect yourself against when it happened. But life becomes more fun when you let that sh$t be part of the reason why you have fun.
One more thing about why this makes a lot of sense. When you let the negative trigger the positive, if that process then becomes something negative also, it will trigger something new that is positive, and this will keep on happening until something positive happens. What this means is that, instead of failing slowly, you fail fast and then everything turns out great and you have more time left to enjoy that. :sun:
