I am putting this in the Spirituality section and i will tell you why.

To me family is a number of things.

My family is:
Part of my soul family group.(spiritual)
Part of my biological group (born into)
Friends I make thru my life time.(adoptive)

Most consider there family only to be biological and nothing more.
I my self have seen families tear at each other like vultures.
To me that's not family.

Some only consider there friends as family,
Because of the biological counter parts.

Some only consider past life folks as there family, and not the biological as anything, they are completely ignored.
I have seen this and it is devastating/heartbreaking to see.

Some don't consider friendships as a family unit.
Because they are not biological.

To me:
What is family to you/myself, is a very heart felt question that everyone should ask themselves, and reach deep in ones heart. as things get more and more difficult or more and more better, we should look upon our selves and our past relationships and see how far we have come with them our with out them.

A lot of folks have never asked this question of themselves and yet..

P.S. Avalonians are a part of my spiritual family.

Family is everything and, I suppose, after enough incarnations, everything is family.

Family is good folks I can be myself with. I consider a good amount of you here to be family. I have a few blood relatives I can be myself with, and I'm entirely grateful for all those that have taught me a lesson or two. Much love to you all.

We're all family.

Human family.
Soul family.
With the skin, without the skin - we're all kin.

I don't have a personal meaning of the word family. For me, it is just a label like many other things. Why do we need to label everything?

I wonder why this post more than other seemed to provoke wordplay? Shiva had his familiar-family, I had my family-everything, everything-family and Teakai had her skin-kin. I've only just noticed it :S

For me family is:

a) Blood relatives specially my children, wife, parents and those family members who have stuck w/ me through thick and tin.

b) Friends whom have been there in the good times and the bad.

c) PA forum friends who light up my life through their heartfelt compassion, wisdom and overall honesty such as you all.

I guess you can say family is what makes our lives worth living for. Family relationships fill our hearts with joy and a sense of belonging.

Personally I feel that friends are just as if not more important than family/kin after all; we can choose our friends but our families are rather thrust upon us by chance … JP

I think a lot of us would probably say that, Beth.
According to Michael Newton's (love that man) clients we choose them for the lessons we can learn and for the situations they put us through.
Our immediate family like mum, dad sisters brothers ect, may not be of our soul group circle at all, but may be of a nearby group.
But, we choose them for what they can teach us. Even bad parenting can teach us what not to do, or build our character or expose us to that which we need to overcome in order to connect with ourselves :)

We are here (in this reality) to live like a family (not dysfunctional), in harmony, peace and Unconditional Love.
By doing the above mentioned we'll bring "Heaven on Earth" once more. However, we have to discover who we really are first, in order to achieve it.

Hello Teakai

Unless we choose our family in the pure soul state, John.

A mute point, ‘memo to self’ - in the pure soul state; be more selective in future!

Love and peace to you. JP
