The human lives with a pretty motley crew. They defy the 'normal' human expections of a nature that is 'red in tooth and claw'. Maybe it's a little more complicated than we've been led to believe.

I think Bob the Dog is the key to this peaceable kingdom. :dog:

So, here's a collection of pics for the animal lovers among us (which I suspect is just about everybody here.) They simultaneously delight and surprise.

Enjoy!

The explanation:

An unusual family of animals is winning hearts on Instagram. This has attracted over 77,000 followers so far by regularly sharing snapshots from the life of one man’s pets: a eccentric but tight-knit group that consists of one golden retriever, one hamster, and eight birds.

31-year-old Luiz Higa Junior of São Paulo, Brazil, tells PetaPixel that his golden retriever, Bob, is a little less than two years old. In the beginning, he just had Bob, a cockatiel and a parakeet.

“Since the beginning I put them together to see their behavior,” he tells us. “It was nice, so I decided to have them play together sometimes during my free time.”
He then added more birds and a hamster to the group, and his Instagram account has been steadily growing in popularity since. Higa’s photos show the group posing, playing, exploring, and resting together.

I have a dog and two cats to try and balance some of the human madness that abounds in this household from time to time......... someone once told me if I locked my girlfriend and dog in the garage for six hours, which one would be pleased to see me when I opened the door? That's a joke by-the-way. :-)

I have often wondered, given that there is life out there somewhere, if other advanced life-forms have relationships with other animals like we do. If any of you are in contact with other beings, this would be a question I would love answered. All the other things we do...... like gardening for example..... how do they manage plant life? What about DIY....... I can't stand painting the house........... do they paint? Do they run out of cat food and face a possible animal mutiny?

These are the question's that keep me awake at night.

Always nice to see pictures of a dog and his wee pals.

Regards.

Photoshopped? I've never seen a bird willing to sleep on her back?

My cat totally loves being the only pet, lol. If she wasn't so old, I would get another cat, but at her age, it would be much too stressful for her.

Real. Birds can be put into a very relaxed and docile state if you hold them upside down in the palm of your hand for awhile. (At this point, of course, they're worth two in the bush :o). Then you can put them down onto something where they'll happily "chill" for awhile before rowsing.

That lab is adorable. He's like an enlightened, canine at one with his surroundings...till someone breaks out the bacon. :

I have two dogs a white husky and a boxer

And two 14 year old cats that are like the two old guys heckling everyone from the balcony. Only ones a girl. :)

I merged the two threads above (which started with the above first two opening posts.)

I'd have done the merge earlier, but this was all too delightfully cute to stuff into a single box, for at least the first day :).

Carry on.

Thanks Paul! I was hoping you'd wave your magic technical wand and pull off something like this.

After I ran into the 5 image post limit, I still wanted to include a few more, so I took the chance and posted more.:yo:

That's hilarious!
And endearing.
Such a wonderful interaction; I love the face on the 'recipient'.
Anyone who claims that animals have no emotions that match human experience (I'm lookin' at you, behavioural psychologists) is full of cat.
Oops, I mean crap! ;)

Reminds me of the parakeets, Pam and Tweet, my parents gave me as a teen. I let them fly all over the apartment and eventually let them go. Birdies do not belong in cages.

Interesting subject pets enjoying the company of other species. Not just pets either I find it fascinating that Polar Bears would interact with sled dogs in a friendly manner...

A trust built up? Or do animals have another sense to determine? With UFOs I'm pretty sure that animals like dogs can sense them or see them in their dimension. So how smart are animals? I have always wondered if we as humans give them enough credit for their intelligence.

Dukkys has put on weight these past few months and has become really hefty. Daughter's cat came here to be boarded and her food is always out and available (since daughter's cat is skinny as a rail), and Dukkys is delighted to be able to eat her food for her.

This is cute. She'd sleep beside me in a bowl. She outgrew several bowls.
