I bought a stainless steel teapot and I am going to heat it in front (not bottom) in order to get water.

Great as long as you have wood in emergency. Perhaps get the "keshe" plasma power loop unit to keep endless electricity to heat the water? JAT=just a thought.
Is the extended rod the heat sensor or rod to produce hot water or just the hosing capturing the heat and blowing it in the water barrels on the side? Looks very interesting. I just love creativity, don't you? Stay on it if it works, you just never know when the back to basics will come in handy after a storm or power outage.

Very cool. Pun not intended.

What the Amish do is get 55 gallon drums and paint them black. Then they put them on the roof and run a line down to the house. I don't know how well a passive system would work in the middle of winter, though.

Hello Everyone: This system would work excellent in cold weather if you want to have 55 gallon drums of ice water on your roof.
The reason hot water systems work great on top of a house is because they are like solar panels. Taking all the heat into them through lexan. Plexiglass won't work as well since it cracks much easier and can't be drilled like lexan.
There are small pipes behind the lexan that heat the water fast and continually have water flowing through them.

I would make an indoor 'Rocket Stove' and have one side a large metal water tank, then pipe off the hot water to a storage tank. The storage tank could also act as a radiator if you make the lagging easily removable!
