Its the Sega Dreamcast's 16th birthday. I love this machine, I have one. Historic games like Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia are my favs. Lots of thought, power, energy, went into the Dreamcast but it ultimately failed commercially. Sega has yet to release a new console.
That whole generation of game consoles is a very interesting story. It was a powerful machine that mimiced pc tech, and also stepped too far forward for its own good with multiplayer and multi divice support. truly a revolutionary console - but always under appreciated. Due to market place flooding of games (due to the easy ability to port pc games) and price points, it doomed itself.
I still have the dreamcast I bought for 100$ from a friend 12+ years ago. Soul Calibre, Skies of Arcadia, Crazy Taxi, Demo Discs, heres to you!
Happy 16th B-day Dreamcast. You were a technology that provided crazy amounts of entertainment for my family and I. Though I am a playstation fanboy now, I wont forget you Sega.
