Arthur C Clarke
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a very interesting discussion about the state of ufology in the 1950's.
The basic pros and cons were the same then as today in many ways. Arthur
Clarke is the sceptic on some of the topics. Though is open that extra terrestrial
civilisations probably exist and have visited the Earth in the past. But does not
think all the reports of the UFO reports of the time are from outer space.
This is way before his later work on his 'Mysterious World Series ' in the 1980's
and before 2001 movie etc . Though he was thought to be an insider its not
mentioned here though it maybe before his involvement with NASA ? . He does say
something interesting early on when they are discussing cases of car engines stop
when alleged UFO's are nearby. Arthur quotes a case that in the mid 1930's when
the UK were building Radar towers to detect aircraft for defence against possible
German air force raids as the threat with Germany was becoming likely. There
were reports of car engines stopping near them , and he says British intelligence
was putting out stories that the towers were secret weapons with ' laser ray
weaponry' Which is an early example of counter intelligence 'disinfo' put out then ,
and still going on now.
They talk about a few cases , but no mention of Roswell , that became more famous
in the 1970's , even though the show is only a decade after the actual event.
Though they do mention a spate of reported sighting from 1947 near the beginning
of the interview , but they do not go into it . After the first hour they broaden the
conversation to satellites and other related subjects. They do go back to the UFO
subject throughout , Arthur cannot seem to conceive that the military would lie
or cover up the existence of UFO's , which seems a bit strange. Though he could
just be a genuine critic ? it contradicts his own admission that counter intelligence
lie and put out dis info. He is not impressed by the claims of 100's of pilots and
official witness's, and does not feel anything is being suppressed by the military
about UFO's and thinks they are more likely to be explainable from earthly sources.
Aprox 2. 02 mins they talk about the 1957 Reinhold Schmidt case where they spoke
in High German. That's the language the Plejarens speak to Billy Meier in ,
coincidence ? unlikely. This is very significant imo , and supports the Meier case
indirectly. The other option is they were Antartic NAZI's ? which I don't subscribe
too...LOL. Reinhold Schmidt was a colourfull character and was checked for his
sanity after the contact , which was common back then and later joined a
speaking circuit and eventually spent time in prison for fraud. So can be seen
as unreliable to some , but the initial incident seems genuine and the fact they
spoke high German as well with what we now know.
The main interviews finish aprox 2hr 30m mark the last 20mins is odd callers ringing in.............

The 1945 Proposal by Arthur C. Clarke for
Geostationary Satellite Communications....http://lakdiva.org/clarke/1945ww/
In a 1945 Wireless World article, the English science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke (1917
–2008) described in detail the possible use of communications satellites for mass
communications.[8] Clarke examined the logistics of satellite launch, possible orbits and
other aspects of the creation of a network of world-circling satellites, pointing to the
benefits of high-speed global communications. He also suggested that three
geostationary satellites would provide coverage over the entire planet.
The US military studied the idea of what was referred to as the earth satellite vehicle
when Secretary of Defence James Forrestal made a public announcement on December
29, 1948, that his office was coordinating that project between the various services.[9]
