I don't buy the "all presidents have doubles that they send out on important missions" excuse. This is true, but Putin 2.0 is consistently different from previous builds.

I did as you suggested (thanks, because I didn't know about that trick :) ) but the pictures are just not good enough. So I went to Google and brought up images of Mr. Putin, and nope, I don't think he has died and been replaced. It is always possible, of course. But from the images on Google, I don't think its true.

If the pics are indeed of different men, and the more I look at the pictures, the more I think there are at least three of them, then this is the scenario I lean toward. Even Saddam Hussein's son had a double. At the top of such a high-stakes game, it only makes sense.

I didn't mean it makes more sense per se, only that it makes more sense to me. The reason for that being that if Putin retired to behind the scenes he would still retain real power, and yet he would be much safer from assassination attempts.

Putin the Man, made by ZDF television and shown for the first time this week, claimed to have been given access to previously unseen files of an unidentified Western intelligence agency.
The files include details of Mr Putin’s time as a young KGB officer stationed in Dresden in the eighties, as well as his later rise to power in Russia.
They contain information from a secretary inside the Dresden KGB office codenamed “Lehnchen”, who befriended Mr Putin's ex-wife and said he used beat Lyudmila regularly.

Intelligence files seen by the documentary makers identified five attempts on Mr Putin's life, including one in which British authorities managed to stop a former KGB major at one of London’s airports before he could carry out a mission to kill the Russian leader.
That matches previously published reports that two men were arrested in London in 2003 in connection with a suspected plot to kill Mr Putin.
The files seen by the documentary also mention assassination attempts in Moscow, St Petersburg, Tehran and the Azerbaijani capital Baku, as well as a failed coup attempt shortly after Mr Putin was appointed prime minister under President Boris Yelstin in 1999.

I know a little about plastic surgery. Mr. Putin has had some plastic surgery I would guess; there are pull marks at his right temple, while a heavier person had pull marks at the temple moving in a different direction. Having magnified all the pictures, most of them are Mr. Putin; however several of them appear to be a person 20 or more pounds heavier with a heavier cranium. Others exhibit another SPIRIT not usually or ever worn by Mr. Putin, judging from his usual public persona. He has round nostrils. One image to his right has long-type nostrils. If you make the distance of his face from the camera equal and measure from the bottom of his chin to the base of his nose you can be more certain of the comparisons. Most of his real images are serious, unhappy, suspicious looking in aspect. One or two of the other images show smiles and a happier looking soul and they do not appear to be his. I wonder what happened to him as a child. The KGB would twist anyone's outlook.
