Jeremy Corbyn has claimed that 9/11 was "manipulated" to make it look like
Osama Bin Laden was responsible to allow the West to go to war in Afghanistan.
In comments that will raise questions about his suitability to lead the Labour Party,
Mr Corbyn appeared to blame George Bush and Tony Blair for using the September
11 attacks in New York to allow them to go to war. In a series of further articles, Mr
Corbyn also appears to endorse controversial conspiracy theories about a “New
World Order”.

Mr Corbyn will attempt to use the Brighton conference to unite the party after it
threatened to split apart in the wake of his shock election victory. However, a
number of Labour MPs are expected to use the conference to publicly state that the
party is unelectable under Mr Corbyn. Lord Mandelson on Friday said that the party
should only consider ousting Mr Corbyn after it is clear the public have realised the
party "cannot be elected with Corbyn as leader".

Mr Corbyn was heavily criticised in the days before winning the Labour leadership
after suggesting that the death of Osama Bin Laden was a “tragedy”.

In the 2003 article for The Morning Star newspaper, Mr Corbyn wrote: “Historians
will study with interest the news manipulation of the past 18 months.

“After September 11, the claims that bin Laden and al-Qaida had committed the
atrocity were quickly and loudly made.

“This was turned into an attack on the Taliban and then, subtly, into regime change
in Afghanistan.”

However, in previous years he wrote a series of articles which appear to have
endorsed the conspiracy theory about the “New World Order”.

The “New World Order” conspiracy is frequently linked to theories about the so-
called “Illuminati” and claims about a “totalitarian world government”.

In an article for “Labour Briefing” in 1991, Mr Corbyn wrote: “We now know that
the Gulf War was a curtain-raiser for the New World Order: the rich and powerful,
white and western will be able to maintain the present economic order with free use
of all the weapons they wish for.”

That same year, he said in Socialist Campaign Group News: “The aim of the war
machine of the United States is to maintain a world order dominated by the banks
and multinational companies of Europe and North America.”

allow people who live in repressive authoritarian regimes to communicate
anonymously on the Internet.

So it is ironic that the NSA targets as “extremists” (the word the U.S. government

‘Labour leadership contender Jeremy Corbyn has suggested that Tony Blair c
ould be made to stand trial for war crimes over the invasion of Iraq.

The veteran left winger said the 2003 conflict was an “illegal war” and that
the individuals who “made the decisions that went with it” should face justice.

His comments, in an interview with BBC2’s Newsnight, will further fuel the
tensions in an increasingly heated leadership contest.’

Mr Corbyn, a long-standing critic of Mr Blair, said that with the Chilcot inquiry
report coming, the former prime minister was reaching the point when he was
going to have to deal with the consequences of his actions.

"We went into a war that was catastrophic, that was illegal, that cost us a lot
of money, that lost a lot of lives, and the consequences are still played out
with migrant deaths in the Mediterranean, refugees all over the region," he said.

Asked if Mr Blair should be charged with war crimes, he said: "If he's committed
a war crime, yes. Everyone who's committed a war crime should be.

Former deputy prime minister John Prescott has offered his advice to
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn when he is admitted to the Privy Council.


Mr Corbyn has refused to confirm whether he will kneel when he
becomes a member. As part of the ceremony, politicians kneel
before the Queen and kiss her hand.

Speaking to the Sunday Politics, Lord Prescott said the ceremony did
not involve kneeling, which he thought was a "stupid arrangement"
but instead required you to "hop from one chair to another and brush

Jeremy Corbyn has admitted he faces a battle to persuade his shadow cabinet to
back him on scrapping the UK's Trident nuclear weapons system.

Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr at the Labour conference, the party leader said
there may be a "difference of opinion" on the issue when MPs vote.

Labour MPs may be allowed to follow their conscience in a free vote.

Mr Corbyn also called for a crackdown on corporate tax avoidance, singling out

The Sunday Times story appeared to show the taboo of the military getting I
involved in party politics being broken.The Sunday Times recently reported on a
potential mutiny in the ranks of the British Army, should Labour leader Jeremy
Corbyn ever become prime minister.

The newspaper quoted an unnamed serving general. He said "feelings are running
very high" at the very thought of a man leading the nation who might scrap
Trident, withdraw from Nato and make further cuts to the size of the armed forces.

The Army, he's alleged to have said, "just wouldn't stand for it".

Given the British Army currently has more than 100 generals, it is perfectly possible
that one of them might have gone "rogue" and broken the taboo of getting involved
in party politics. In my experience most generals are bright enough to stay clear of
the subject and are happier to let you guess their political views.

The trouble is that some former senior officers have not helped. They've nailed
their political colours to the mast.

General Lord Dannatt, the former head of the army, openly flirted with the
Conservatives and Admiral Lord West, a former First Sea Lord, served as a security
minister in the last Labour government.

There is considerable anger among the current military top brass who believe it's
undermined the important rule of not engaging in party politics.

Crossover and tensions

Yet the military are happy to turn a blind eye when more junior officers pursue a
political career.

There are 51 MPs in the House of Commons who've served in the military, either as
regulars or reservists. Perhaps reinforcing a perception, all bar two of them sit on
the Conservative benches.

Thank you for making that connection. I knew about Piers long before I ever heard about Jeremy.

Jeremy Corbyn was totally unelectable as Labour leader. Given the abject failure of that prediction or analysis, then the truth is that the totally unelectable Labour party under his leadership will likely sweep into power at the earliest opportunity.
