New findings from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) provide the strongest evidence yet that liquid water flows intermittently on present-day Mars.

Honestly, I believe the reason is directionality. Breadcrumbs released to us in reasonable time in order to slowly acclimate the world to the statement being made here. Yes, Never A Satisfying Answer here isn't giving us what the moon gave us last night... But as more and more breadcrumbs are placed before us, I think the direction and the scope of magnitude of today will come into perspective.

Though we all know this is really old, old news, it's amazing NASA/JPL have finally announced/admitted this. This is a real biggie IMHO, because the floodgates (pun intended) have been opened and there's no going back. Water = Life. I wonder for Gil Levin if vindication can still taste sweet after all these years.

Big news. But so frustratingly long a time coming. Most of us already knew this by intuition and common sense. Not to mention the obvious evidence.
It is the same argument they have used and still use today in regards to the Great Pyramid in Egypt: That the erosion is caused by wind when it is so obviously water erosion.
So sad that Nasa cannot be trusted to tell us the truth. It is so bad that I no longer follow the Nasa missions and have virtually no interest. And I am very interested in space science, just not from the propaganda mouthpiece of the US government, its main purpose being to keep the true space exploring and technical information away from the public at all costs.
Maybe in another hundred years they might allow us a peek at the indigenous species of plant life deep in the canyons of Mars...

if they ever go to mars I bet they will find evidence of a civilization that once lived there. We might have to wait 20 years though

No floodgates will be opened.

It occurred to me today that there might be a hint of an old meme here that has been divorced from its tenet. Long ago, we were taught, or explained to, that there is no life in the universe because there is very little water in evidence. Especially in the solar system. They told us the moon had none - debunked. The claimed that Mars had but a sprinkling - now reversed. And they told us the rest of the system had virtually no water - also debunked. No water = no life, we were told. That is why most don't believe in extra-terrestrial life - because of the scarcity of water. That was the old meme.
But now that water is in evidence in copious amounts all over the solar system and elsewhere, that meme must be revisited and revised.
There is no life because we have not yet found any or, more likely, because we have not yet been informed there is!
The old meme is found to be false - there is water so there most likely is life all over the universe.
Please be responsible: revisit and reset your old meme...
cheers
