Lisa Engles in the second video below states, "When was the last time you received a true honest-to-goodness heartfelt hug? Hopefully it wasn't too long ago because science shows that a brief hug... as little as 20-seconds can increase oxytocin, the powerful hormone in our body that fortifies bonds with our loved ones, decrease cortisol secretion which in turn lowers stress and can also reconnect the mind with the body."
Thought to share a personal example. After my divorce and being single again my brother and sister-in-law came out west to visit. She came up and gave a surprise true authentic hug. After so long of not receiving one it seemed so awkward but soon recall the connection it made.
Here's hoping authentic hugs come your way soon..

My olde cat is ill, so he is subjected to multiple hugs, reiki hands-on, and total devotion 24/7 now. It seems to please him, along with delicacies, clean 'facilities', and total loving.
Yesterday I took him to the seaside, with his harness on, mad sniffing and awe - but another experience for him. I try to do something special every day, plant a cat-friendly herb, sit in the sunshine while he luxuriates under the sunlit hedge, and make sure he is carefully and gently groomed. Poor wee Atom, my avatar replicant of Fat Freddie's cat, stoical partner for 17 years, now fighting for survival. More tests next week, hopefully can stabilise for longer without suffering. He's nowhere near as bad as ancient Giles was years ago, so fingers et al crossed
Slowly losing a pet is horrid, but one never knows, he may get better whilst his meds are resolved. Please send the "ginger whinger" a friendly yeowl, and an holistic 'hug'. Thank you x

Hugs to you and the kitty..sadly I am dealing with same situation. My 14 yr old male cat, Stinky, is on his way to cat heaven...he was very ill with kidney failure at 3 years old and then was in great health up to about 6 months ago. He developed thyroid problems which caused him severe weight loss and he has stopped grooming himself. So wash cloths and sponge baths along with a gentle brushing have been the nightly routine. Just giving him love and making him comfy.
I know how you feel, and I send you a hug and some comfort <3

For Saint Theresa
Hyperthyroid problems recently diagnosed, and some major stabilisation. However, urea OTT, so must cut down on protein. Stinky is such a daft name!!! So is Atom! He was a stray, a tom cat, so with one of us being in the scientific field, we called him Atom because he is A Tom! I give him the odd raw macerated red meat treat, which he loves and made coat glossy, although thick, which I brush out daily. He went from 5.2kilos to 3.2 kilos whilst I was away looking after ailing parents. Now he's gained weight, and is 3.79k! Looks much better. Don't give up.... It's all balancing their care and comfort, much love to you both xx

In real life, one of the problems I have is that I am very physical, and I am prone to giving to spontaneous hugs and kisses. Real ones, not air kisses.

I feel for you guys. I had to put down my 16 year old Siamese / Mog tabby cross two years ago. So hard, I couldn't do it .. made the "wife" do it, and she almost failed it was so hard. The vet was so good though, as soon as my wife came in with the cat and that "look in her eyes", they knew exactly, and quickly pulled out the reserve tissue box and took the cat to the back after a quick goodbye without a word even spoken. 2 weeks later, they sent a beautiful condolences card in the mail. I think I cried the same when my father passed, not to devalue my feelings on my father passing ... a 16 year old cat is just as much family as anyone.

This was a hugfest kind of day. At the end of it when filling out a birthday card for my daughter-in-law to be I signed it - Happy Birthday, hugs, Mom. Then not five minutes later out of the blue, for no particulr reason my oldest son who's usually not much of a hugger just gave me a really big hug and told me he loved me, which was really nice. Later when he saw his girlfriend she hugged him and then when she opened the card I'd sent in it there was a hug in there for her from me. I guess my family just had hugging on the brain today. Sort of unusal because we're not really a touchy feely family or very big huggers. Around here when it does happen it means alot because for us it isn't just habit.

Good luck, Avid. I lost my cat Molson back in '03 and I still think about him everyday. I have a thing for tuxedo cats and my present cat Booger was recently diagnosed with diabetes last year (very expensive)...so I give him multiple hugs on a daily basis.
Cats always know who the cat people are!!

The last time I received a hug was from my husband when I travelled to Florida to visit him. He is serving time in prison right now and will be home in a few years. we are only allowed one hug and one kiss upon arriving and leaving. Gaaaaaaaahhhh!!! our hugs are so amazing and filled with love! but here recently a coworker, whom I wrote a post about she knew I was having a bad day and when she seen me in the break room she gave me a big hug!!! I also helped her out because she needed a new phone because hers was broken so she wanted to purchase one from the department I work in well when I thought about it. The phone she was wanting I had at home because I had upgraded well I told her she was more then welcomed to it. I let her have it for free when I couldve easily gotten $200 out of it. I didnt want the money even though she offered to make payments I told her it was okay because I was helping her out. She has a 5 yrs old little girl and she needed a good working phone so I let her have mine and she can do whatever she wishes with it. Sorry to drag this out. The day I gave her the phone at work she hugged me again! felt so nice!!!
HUGS ARE AWESOME!!!!! <3
