View Full Version : What is it that Separates us?

How did we become so separate?
Where did these distinctions come from
the beliefs that masquerade as facts
the badges of identity that cover our common core
and turn us into aliens and enemies?
How can we be separate
when we’re the same substance, body and soul
collections of the same atoms
and channels of the same soul-force,
when we’re still connected to the source
still meeting and merging
becoming part of each other’s flow
like rivers from the same ocean?
Let’s be like children
whose beings are too empty
to be filled with distinctions
too open to be closed off by prejudice
too fluid to be clogged up with concepts
so whole and so connected that they don’t need to build
a fortress of identity.
What is it that separates us?
Only the illusion of separateness
only the illusion of identity.

I love it. What an awesome question. We´ve been divided and conquered through ego. Time to change it, little by little and near around us.
Thank you Skyheaven.

I think it could be the comet that struck earth 12-13k years ago. The small groups of survivors being physically separate and and the shock of it all making us forget who we were. But most of all fear.

Its a separation device.

This is beautiful. I agree with all of the above and below and add it reminds me that we material creatures are sharing perceived finite resources. Sometimes trying to fight for them. Stealing them from others or putting our towel on them or a flag on them. I have an increasing number of tribe identities which might alow facilitation of resources. I am an Englishman and have English water from Southern Water. I pay them English money. But these identities also serve to separate and alienate. I no longer identify perhaps with Argentinians because the separation of identities allows for a fight over resources. I can now project the monster inside me onto something that I've made very distict and different from me, because I or someone spurring me on wants resources. But really these 'others' are the same as me, and more so... might theoretically be my literal brother or sister and I don't know it. Yes fear really helps this (tounge out of cheek.. fear really DOESNT help this).
I would wish for more sharing resources, peace, love and having fun as the song goes
But lets not do that song, lets do this one: Sweet Harmony by The Beloved. I won't post the video it's full of beautiful naked people and you might be eating your dinner

I have this sense...I wrote it in this poem...(from the book not yet published "Forever Free: Impressions from the Spirit of Truth"
Like the Wind
Blue skies, rolling hills
Rows of dwarf-like trees
Strung together, holding hands
Emanating the Spirit of Unity
From the tender seed
To the sentinel bond of green
Pasture upon pasture of lush Spirit
Ripening as Life cycles forward
Moving rhythmically to the beat
Of the one great heart of Nature
Without a name
It’s all the same
Life forever flowing as rivers and streams
None can see the current inside
But feel the water move
Its power finding no obstacles
To keep on moving
Carrying its passengers
And wisdom impressions
Forever giving back to the whole
Without a name
It’s all the same
Closer to the fire as darkness beckons
Heat waves dance surreal around the flames
Life drawing near to its own warmth
Feeling its comforting essence
Without form touching flame
The radiance of love shared
Without the name
It’s all the same
Like the wind, Life’s essence
Felt as movement, never seen
Its existence not denied
But savored, glorified
Breezing in, floating through
Renewable Spirit as fountain flowing
Life is moving, purity emerging
Magnetic to itself in vibration
Giving of Itself to the receptive chalice
Without a name
It’s all the same
Oh, Steward of Life, hear Me call
I Am your nature after all
Open to receive the bounty I give
Open to the love in your heart that lives
Use me to craft what you will
Whatever that may be, I love you still
May I implore you to feel in Me
Your own love and happiness you can be
In the essence of Life
As Spirit of One
Without a name
We’re all the same

comparing how the folks in rural areas with the city dwellers interacts I can say that this is true. In the city there is this so called familiar strangers. I do also agree that its the ego that separates us the question is where does it come from could it be part of the programming. Certainly programming does not happen overnight ala hypnotism. Since birth man have been program and the previous programs are downloaded by parents adult to the next generation. So to answer the question : the programmers separate us. Awareness is what will unite us.

What separates us is our individualism. Nothing wrong with that. What connects us is our understanding that we are ALL CONNECTED :-)

The tree of life....would mean we're all connected... Wonder what we're rooted in ?
