My first thread on avalon, This is my grain of sand to the community I hope it'll be usefull for everyone either for personal matters or research...

Now this is real science, and I think everyone might have heard the term Micro-expressions

What is a micro-expression?
http://www.paulekman.com/micro-expressions/
Micro expressions are very brief facial expressions, lasting only a fraction of a second. They occur when a person either deliberately or unconsciously conceals a feeling. Seven emotions have universal signals: anger, fear, sadness, disgust, contempt, surprise and happiness. You can learn to spot them.

This seven emotions and the face muscles used are universal, everyone makes them, no matter if you're white/black/brown/ no matter if you are american/hispanic/african etc..
If you learn how to spot them you will be capable of knowing people's true feelings, and if they are conceiled you will know people's true intentions..

How did I get drag into this?
Back in 2009 there was a TV series called Lie to me, basicly is about a man called Dr. Cal Lightman who uses his mastery in spotting micro-expressions and corporal language knowledge to help the police, FBI and others investigate and solve various crimes..... The series aired for 3 years, 3 seasons and finally enden in 2011, the rating was lowering so they shut it down, however, one of the things that really got me thinking is that examples about real micro-expressions were usually exposed using Political figures and other public figures so you could see the example of each statement made in the series..
President Nixon
President Clinton
President Omaba
a lot of political figures were used to describe various expressions and corporal language, Clues to deceit..
That made me think that the goverment might have shut it down because you know..
If this or that is a sign of lying and Obama comes out as an example in one of his speeches, obviously nobody wants people to know if any potential candidates are lying during their speechs or maybe they're promises during campaigns...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lie_to_Me
The show is inspired by the work of Paul Ekman, the world's foremost expert on facial expressions..

What use is it to you?
I'd like to take Paul Elkman's points..

-Improve your emotional intelligence
-Develop your capacity for empathy
-Spot Concealed Emotions
-Improve your relationships
-Understand others
-Recognize and better manage your own emotions
-Develop Social Skills

As you can imagine (just a mere coincidence) it is quite difficult to find this uploaded for online watch so, I'll post a link for you to download episode one and tell me what you think... Also I have online copies of Paul Ekman books and David J. Lieberman books, lecture that I found priority reading for deception training...
I have a copy of micro expression training software for you to be able to train yourselves into recognizing these faces instantly and to begin your own research with your friends, family, acquaintances or even at your job as this training can be applied into any business or job negotiations....

Here's the first few minutes of the pilot episode as Introduction...
Later post will contain full episode one and a couple of audios of David J. Lieberman about his book ''Never to be lied again" which contain most useful clues to deceit..

WamPAPl1HDs
Never mind the portuguese subtitles, there's only about 3 videos of the series on youtube hehe..

I have to say, this information should be used wisely and always think about who you're going to face when finding out you're being lied to, this training will let you be a step ahead always but understand that if it's someone close to you, there are some things that people do not wish to share so be careful......

we all have the capability to read other people, its the basic communication mode inherent and more accurate than words, although most have lost the ability to connect.

I watched the series "Lie to Me" as well.

There is an author Oliver Sacks, who wrote "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales". One of the tales described being in a room with institutional patients watching TV, with Ronald Reagan giving a speech. I can't remember what their issue was, but all of them simultaneously laughed or chuckled at certain moments during Reagan's speech, so clearly they were reacting to the same thing. It turns out one of the side effects of their disability, was they could see the dissonance displayed when lying, and they were laughing every time Reagan lied.

Each episode shows clues to deceit, how to recognize them and techniques used, they regularly explain and show examples on each episode in certain scenes, as the episodes continue more complicated clues to deceit are shown until you end with a lot learned..

Great thread!

I'm a huge fan of Ekman and have been a student of statement analysis for almost 10 years. I've actually been bad at keeping up with it since being a member here at Avalon. Lol

I think you would be interested in a site but I post this link with a warning. If you can get pasted this mans obvious bias to conservative Christian morals you may learn a lot.
