I have just been watching a film called The Cokeville Miracle and ended up crying. So I logged in here and searched the term Cokeville and I was surprised to find no results.

The second link has a footnote by the Author:

Author's Note: I'm not sure why, but for some reason, this article gets more hate mail than anything else on my site. I'm not sure what about it is so darned offensive, but most of the negative letters are due to the speculation that a bomb going off in the middle of a classroom and not killing 167 kids can be called a miracle. Personally, even though I'm an atheist myself, I don't find the use of the words "miracle" or "God" a reason to jot off venom-laced hate mail. The whole point of Awesome Mysteries is to invite speculation and theory... not to be douchebags about what we do or do not believe in.

There are many accounts by people through time of encounters with heavenly beings. In modern times a lot of these encounters are perhaps associated with positive ET's rather than angels, or perhaps they are two seperate phenomena. A well known story would be about the Angle of Mons during WWI. Another would be the events at Fatima in 1916.

The best collection of accounts that I have personally read were collected and compiled by Pierre Jovanavic, An Inquiry into the Existence of Guardian Angels, who was led to his quest by surviving a sniper bullet attack on a freeway by an apparent divine intervention. (He literally felt a hand push him out of the way).

Chapter One, (or at least part of it), may be freely read on his website. The actual link to Chapter One is broken but at least some of the text is there on the page provided below.

As he pursued his investigations the amount of serendipitous events, or synchronicities, goes way beyond the odd coincidence.

Thanks for this heart-lifting story, Ewan. I had never heard of it before. I met an elderly lady in the late 80's who was visited by angels. She kindly mailed me a photograph taken of a family member in which an angel appeared as a very small winged silvery being. I no longer have the picture. Things of such nature would find their way to me often. Since then I was visited by my grandmother almost 30 years after she'd died. She came in a slim youthful body, appearing beside me when I was close to death. She had golden energy that appeared like wings, though she had arms as well, and she laid her golden light body down beside me and wrapped those wings around my physical body. I lived through the crisis.

I think many people have experience of angels in some form or another. It is wonderful to hear this story you have shared about Cokeville.

THE COKEVILLE MIRACLE

On May 16, 1986, in the small, ranching community of Cokeville, Wy, David and Doris Young took an elementary school hostage for several hours before detonating a bomb inside a single classroom that held every teacher and student in the school. In the wake of the madness, Ron Hartley, whose children were inside the classroom, must fight his skepticism and unbelief as he hears eye witness accounts from the students of miraculous, heavenly intervention during the crisis. When tragedy strikes... what do you see?

Thank you, RunningDeer, for the movie link. As I have so many times, you leave me wondering how in heck you FIND these things! Much obliged - I hope to view it later, having downloaded the movie from your link.

Ewan, I went to all your links, and the one giving the first chapter of "An Inquiry Into the Existence of Angels"(by Jovanovic) gave this fascinating information about Dr. John Lilly (who was spoken of in an Avalon thread a week or so ago here: http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?86307-Fear-frequency-transmission-trough-WiFi&p=1013478&viewfull=1#post1013478

"When Dr. John Lilly, whose work with dolphins is world famous, tells us quite simply in his autobiography that he encountered his guardian Angel as a child and conversed with him, one may well pause for reflection. Similarly for Francoise Dolto, the celebrated child psychoanalyst, who has made no secret of the fact that she constantly asks her guardian Angel to watch over her. If these statements were made by unknowns, no one would pay any attention. But coming from John Lilly and Francoise Dolto, who had no reason whatever to talk nonsense, they can be explained only by unforgettable experiences. During an interview at his home in Malibu, California, Dr. Lilly--who had dealt more than once with these "beings," always in dramatic circumstances--told me, "I called them Angels, but that's a hangover from my Catholic education. Today it would be more accurate to say 'Being from a higher plane than ours.'"

I did not know that, and found it fascinating. M. Jovanovic's link opens to an experience of his in 1988, driving on a major highway in California to San Francisco. He wrote: "...a sudden mysterious force hurled me to the left side of the car in which I was riding. A moment later, a bullet crashed through the windshield and buried itself smack in the middle of the passenger seat. Had I not moved, I would have been killed instantly."

That reminded me of once, when driving alone from eastern Canada to Montana, a distance of about 3,000 kilometers, a voice spoke to me twice. It was late March and the mountain roads were dry and clear, the day sunny. There was no traffic and I was sailing happily along. Suddenly, I heard a distinct voice speak into my right ear: SLOW DOWN.

I looked around me in the car, wondering who said that. It was so clear it was as though there HAD to be a person say it, but of course I was alone. I was so startled I answered and said, "Why? The roads are clear, there's no snow or ice, and there are no police cars, or any cars, in sight." So I carried on driving as I had been.

Then the voice spoke again: SLOW DOWN. YOU'RE DRIVING TOO FAST. Immediately I put my foot to the brake and began slowing down, looking all around me to try to find the WHY of the warning. Then I saw it. The mountain road came up to a sharp hairpin turn. The height and closeness of the mountain had caused the road to lie in shadow. No sun had been able to reach the snowdrifts there from an earlier storm, and the snow was piled deep.

Had I come upon that hairpin turn with hidden snowdrifts, I would have skidded, likely would have lost control of the car, and could have plummeted off the side of the mountain, for there was no guard rail and the mountain dropped off, nearly straight down.

I was shaken. A guardian angel - or a part of my higher self - had spoken with the clarity of a person sitting next to me, and had saved me from a serious accident. This was nearly 30 years ago when there were no cell phones or GPS, and who would have found me had my car gone over the brink.

So I am ever so grateful to be shown we are not alone in this journey through 3D life we lead.

Thank you Ewan and RunningDeer for this great video. During the first part, it was depressing and I began to regret having started watching it, but the ending was so inspiring that I'm glad to have watched it through.

Thank you again,

Thanks for sharing this account, I really like hearing/reading about these. On one occasion I also 'heard' a voice, so I know how surprising and strange it can be.

I also knew a Swiss guy who told me a story or running into the road as a boy, only he ran into 'an invisible wall' instead and a car sped past inches from him.

I would like to briefly share my own Angel intervention story; it happened whilst I was recovering in hospital from a 12 hour surgery to remove a brain tumour, I was unable to sleep because of the incredible pain in my head, my whole body ached and one night whilst I tossed and turned I prayed for relief of the pain, too much to endure, sometime during the night I felt and small hand take hold of my head, I assumed it was a nurse, so kept my eyes closed and contuied to snooze, I noticed a tremendous sense of peace take hold and shortly after the pain had significantly decreased, I eventually opens my eyes to thank this person, only to discover there was NO ONE near by my bed!
In the early hours of the morning I clearly saw a huge angel wing standing sideways at the end of my bed bathed in light, it lingered for several minutes before dissolving into space, I never mentioned the experience to anyone, but I look back now with thanks for the divine intervention and blessings I received, the experience changed my life!

I'm sure this was in an Unsolved Mysteries episode (with Robert Stack). They covered all the things that the father discovered during his investigation. I can't find the video but if I do I'll post it. This story is pretty awesome.

Hi Ewan. Thread bump with a Sheldrake vid, talking on angels. Personal Guardian angels are in here, but all I took was timestamps for 9: - 10: and ~15: - 1640: /23:50 , about Ganish and Pan-Psychism respectively, so that narrows it down a bit.

I have had some amazing ~saves, and/so I put a lot of stock in angels. IMO, just must be available to those frequencies, be open and positioned for judgement by a fair hand.

Angels and the festival of Michaelmas

“Rupert explores the significance of Michaelmas, the Feast of Saint Michael and all angels, celebrated on September 29th. He discusses the role of angels in various religious traditions, and how modern beliefs about angels persist despite materialist skepticism. He touches on encounters with angels in dreams and altered states, questioning whether they are real or products of imagination. Drawing on figures like Carl Jung and Saint Thomas Aquinas, Rupert reflects on angels' place in the collective unconscious and their roles in Western thought.”

Wow, a great 'bump' :highfive: And my first visit here to this thread :sun:.

Okay, I usually watch things before posting them to our library but this time around I'm just going to go for it I think: members' enthusiasm reassures me that this is a more than worthy candidate - it wins a Ripe Tomato :)

I had an experience with a guardian angel once, I suspect, except it didn't save me, but instead, my much-beloved cat.

I was about 15 at the time, and it was summer break. I was taking an afternoon nap, and had the blinds pulled to bask in the sunshine.

Now, in the US, the basic, standard-issue blinds that come with basically every house/apartment are really crappy, and when drawn, the 3 cords that act as a pulley system will dangle all the way to the ground. American readers will know exactly what I'm talking about, but for the rest of the world, they're essentially thick strings that are very prone to getting tangled, badly.

I was deep asleep and dreaming, when out of the blue, I snap awake, fully alert and lucid. The exact moment I'm awake, a single word pops into my head, crystal-clear.

"Pendu."

The word means "hanged" in French (which I speak natively), and is usually used in the context of a hanging, as in, a person hanging from a noose.

Now, one thing about me, is that I don't have an internal monologue. Audible words aren't part of my natural thought process. The rare times they are, it's either because I'm playing a conversation in my head like a movie or am otherwise making a concerted, conscious effort to do. My default mode of thinking is in pictures/images.

So this was very unusual for me.

Furthermore, the voice was entirely ageless and genderless. It's difficult to describe beyond that, but I haven't heard anything like it before or since.

Anyway, as soon as the word popped into my mind, I glanced over at the window, to see that my cat had somehow managed to wrap the cords to the blinds very tightly around his neck. Worse yet, he was wiggling his lil' butt in that characteristically feline way indicating he was about to jump, right off of the windowsill and onto the ground a couple of feet below.

The imminent catastrophe was crystal clear, and I leapt out of bed, spooking my cat into a freeze mode without a half second to spare. I actually had gently caught him half-off the window as he had juuuust started his leap.

I then spent the next several minutes trying unsuccessfully to unwrap the hopelessly tangled cord from his neck, and had to cut the damned thing using a letter opener on the desk nearby.

Maybe it was instinct that woke me up, or some kind of 6th sense. Maybe it was my higher self, or a spirit, or whatever.

All I know for certainty is that had I remained asleep, my cat would have snapped his neck once he jumped from the window.

The whole experience couldn't have lasted longer than 2 or 3 seconds in total (minus the removal of the cords), but it's one of those experiences that has seared itself into my memory.

To this day, I coil the cords to my blinds and tuck them snugly in the highest slat. Lest my current cats find themselves in the same situation.
