I thought the following was a powerful response to the recent attack in Paris and would be appreciated by Avalonians.

A powerful video of Waleed Aly outlining strategies to stop Isis in the wake of the Paris attacks has drawn more than 10 million viewers.

Aly, one of the hosts on Channel 10's The Project, has become renowned for his editorials at the end of the show. On yesterday’s program he focused on the aftermath of the attacks in France which left 129 people dead.

“Isil’s weak,” Aly began, “I know it doesn’t look like that now, but it’s the truth. And they don’t want you to know it, which is why it’s something we should talk about.”

Aly outlined how Isis took credit for every attack, including those planned without any co-ordination from the group, such as the Sydney siege, “so that they appear bigger and tougher than they actually are”.

“But Isil don’t want you to know that. How do I know? Because Isil told us they don’t want you to know that in their monthly magazine”.

“Isil don’t want you to know they would quickly be crushed if they ever faced a proper army on a real battlefield. They want you to fear them.

“Isil’s strategy is to split the world into two camps, it’s that black and white.”

He said “they want countries like ours to reject their Musilms and vilify them”, before cutting to a clip of Pauline Hanson speaking in an interview.

The video ends with a riposte to members of parliament who are “preaching hate”.

“I am angry at these terrorists. I’m sickened by the violence, and I’m crushed for the families that have been left behind. But you know what, I won’t be manipulated. We all need to come together.

“It’s exactly what Isil doesn’t want. So if you’re a member of parliament, or a has-been member of parliament preaching hate at a time when what we actually need is more love, you’re helping Isil.

“I’m pretty sure that right now, none of us wants to help these bastards.”

I know you know this BMJ ........

The classic was 9/11 Bin Laden had nothing to do with it. But the intel agencies
made it known on the day thru the media that Al Qaeda ( Data base ) and Bin Laden
probably did it, and if you ask most people who have not looked into it . Who
planned the 9/11 attacks on the US ? they will probably say Bin Laden.

ISIL morphed from Al Qaeda another ( data base ) of hodge podge mercenaries and
fighters funded by Saudi and other agencies.Waleed Aly is right , they will claim
responsibility for everything as it a intel psyop to keep the public in fear to further
their political agendas. Though it is also very real and thousands are being killed
and displaced in endless warfare. He may know the rest , but cannot say on his show ?

I've heard a lot of views coming from Australia recently ... this was refreshing.

Thanks for posting this BMJ. Waleed Aly often has a very insightful opinion on news events. His points of view are often original and usually add to the discussion in a very positive way. He is a remarkable man. I think he is very right in this instance. ISIL wants us to squabble amongst ourselves and fragment the efficiency of the response to terrorism. They have no real 'base' to attack. and their supporters live among us. This they can use to frighten us. We need to present a united response within our communities, and those communities should include the many Muslims who do not support these acts of terrorism. Carpet bombing in countries far away does not seem to have helped much so far!

From BMJ's post:

Waleed Aly states:
“Isil don’t want you to know they would quickly be crushed if they ever faced a proper army on a real battlefield. They want you to fear them".

But that's the thing, that's why this particular tact of terrorism is so insidious, because they will never have to face a standing army on a real battlefield. This brand of warfare is a stroke of genius if you want to think in terms of a strategy to achieve your aims.

There is zero emotion involved in the thinking of who, or what, came up with this strategy................... This is what we are up-against.

Regards.
