The question of whether we're alone in the universe may well have
been answered in a recent photograph posted by Scott Kelly

Day 233. Once upon a #star over Southern India. #GoodNight from @space_station!
#YearInSpace

An image tweeted by an astronaut on the International Space Station has been greeted with excitement - as it appears to show a UFO in the sky.

The picture was shared by US astronaut Scott Kelly, who has been in space for 236 days out of a year in orbit.

And its intriguing content has spoken to alien believers, who feel the 51-year-old is "trying to tell the world about the existence of aliens".

The image was shared on Kelly's Twitter account on Sunday with the caption: "Day 233. Once upon a #star over Southern India. #GoodNight from @space_station! #YearInSpace."

But while the world from 155 miles is a breathtaking sight, it's something in the top right of the image which has intrigued UFO spotters.

YouTube channel Sonofmabarker posted a video stating: "Last night aboard the Space Station astronaut Scott Kelly tweeted this photo.

"It was taken while the ISS was over India.

"In the upper right of the photo you can clearly see a large object with two lights on each end.

"It also appears to be very large and constructed.

"I would find it hard to believe that Scott Kelly did not notice this when he tweeted this out.

"It really sticks out like a sore thumb.

"Scott Kelly thank you for sending this photo down to Earth.

"Hardly a week goes by without someone from the ISS sending us a photo or video that really is quite strange and it is left for us to decide."

Those who feel that extra terrestrials' existence is being hidden by Nasa and other space agencies slavishly follow the ISS live feed streamed on the Nasa website and regularly suggest that there are strange UFOs which appear to be "monitoring the space station".

Daily diary: Scott Kelly is aiming to be the first astronaut to spend a year in orbit

Scott C waring, editor of blog site UFOsightingsdaily.com, told the Express: "When an astronaut tweets a photo of a UFO, you can bet people notice it.

"Scott Kelly likes to send out photos of the view from the windows of the space station, and they look cool.

"This one however has a cigar shaped glowing UFO with a metallic body in it.

"The UFO is about 25 meters long and 150 to 200 meters away.

"It looks like Scott was trying to hint at the existence of aliens. Message received Scott, and thanks."

In a climate where so many suggestions of UFOs are made, Nasa doesn't comment on individual cases, so it remains up to individuals whether they believe the truth really is out there.

Could it be a man-made satellite? But I think it's too big for that.

I feel it is significant that Scott did not comment on the 'thing', which I feel he may have, if he thought it was a human construction (like a satellite).

Don't forget that WE are out there too.

But I guarantee you that they would prefer this photo be classified as an 'Alien UFO'

:)

we should have the photos specialists on the UFO forums deconstruct the picture pretty soon, and work with their widget to try to make out what it is. It will be interesting.

I agree with you Harley

I'm SORRY to spoil this one, folks.

Don't get me wrong, I KNOW THAT UFOs & ETs ARE REAL,

But I believe that this is an illusion, mistakenly :-

When viewing the screen, if you raise your head a few inches, so that you are slightly looking down on the screen -
the lighting appears slightly different.
You can see that just below the object, there is a line going right across the screen !
This seems to be some part of the space station jutting out overhead.
The object appears to be some kind of reflection in that area !

With Best Wishes, Boja.

Yes, it's a console light above the window. You can see part of the outside view reflected in glossy material top centre. Altering the gamma of the image shows a line starting high left and curving down to the right.

He is saying so much without speaking :)

And isn't it cool to see stars out there!

Does this astronaut's tweet prove UFOs exist?

No.

(See Betteridge's Law (https://mcturra2000.wordpress.com/2012/07/31/betteridges-law-of-headlines/))

Nevertheless, it could easily have been an interesting catch.

There are no laws in physics or science. Zero.

Laws are for systems of social punishment, they by definition have no place in objective science. Do yourself and the world a service and lose the terminology. Permanently.

The use of the word law in science is implicitly turning it into a form of religious zealotry, a dogma, at a minimum, and a punishment system for violators.

There are lots of 'laws' in physics. OK, maybe law is a clumsy English word, what would you suggest?

(I think you're just worrying about semantics.)

But Ohm's Law is an easy one, and it's one of very many that allow me to type this and you to read it via the internet.

And if you'd bothered to look up Betteridge's Law, you would realise that it isn't even a real law at all! And certainly nothing to do with physics or science!

It's just one of the phrases used by journalists to highlight other journalists' lazy copy.

Not being astronaut, I saw this things on UStream today. Is everything just reflection and optic "game"?

In late 2011 I noticed an odd object in the sky on night.

31952

I took the above photo and several hundred others. In each photo "the object" changed.

My fascination resulted in my joining this forum and posting some of these pics.

It turned out that the object I was photographing was...

Venus

Star Tsar

I wonder if this could be the same object that Scott Waring of UFO Sightings Daily.com reported three weeks ago?!?!?!

According to this article the ufo is a reflection of part of the ISS.

Well done Karpos ! That is correct, the objects are the same in both pictures, I used Photoshop to zoom in and you can see they are strictly the same.

Case closed, not a UFO.
