I have a dream....

I say we wipe out all vestiges on the idea of freedom, that way the idea of freedom doesn't keep popping up every so often and we can get down to the more serious matter of effective slavery.

(And in case you are wondering, no, I am not substituting freedom here for FE or Avalon. Avalon is not freedom, it's a forum.)

Yes, yes... that way we can talk in a more straight forward way. We won't be able to use double speak once the whole concept of freedom is forgotten. Heck, at that point we wont need the concept of slavery either. It will just be what it IS. Hmmm. How will that effect sarcasm on the topic?

:)

"No, I know they look real."
"Yeah, they look real 'cause they are real."
"But they can't be, can they?"
"Whatever they are, Hitler ordered them all destroyed"
"Why, if they're just stupid movies?"
"The point is, even possessing them is treason."

The Man in the High Castle

The Man in the High Castle is an American dystopian alternate history television series.

The series is based on the 1962 novel of the same name by American science fiction author Philip K. Dick. The story is an alternate history of the world in which the Axis powers won World War II. The United States has been partitioned into three parts: The Japanese puppet state of the Pacific States of America, which comprises the former United States west of the Rocky Mountains; a Nazi puppet state that comprises the eastern half of the former United States; and a neutral zone that acts as a buffer between the two areas, called the Rocky Mountain States.

Speaking of effective slavery how about this (somewhat controversially) ...

Oh, that was me pretending the topic was censored so well that, in effect, it did not exist (anymore) and thus I did not know what you were referring to. :)

I literally can't pretend that there is no such thing. That must mean we don't really have it. Have what say you...? :)

It's not that hard. I have no doubt there have been things censored that have happen but that they did not happen to our awareness because they were censored. One doesn't need to know what has been censored to know that one doesn't know.....you know?

The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA INC. LAND OF THE.............. HOME OF THE ...............

Joseph Goebels:

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
Joseph Goebbels did say it. Don't sell him short. he was an extremely intelligent man, a brilliant manipulator, and was Hitler's Master of Propaganda. Goebbels's deeply rooted contempt for humanity, his urge to sow confusion, hatred and intoxication, his lust for power and his mastery of the techniques of mass persuasion were given full vent in the election campaigns of 1932, when he played a crucial role in bringing Hitler to the centre of the political stage. He was rewarded on 13 March 1933 with the position of Reich Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, which gave him total control of the communications media - i.e. radio, press, publishing, cinema and the other arts. He retained this position for his lifetime. He was Hitler's right hand man until their deaths. He chose to suicide himself and poison his wife and 6 kids so as to die with Hitler. With characteristic pathos and egomania he declared not long before his death: 'We shall go down in history as the greatest statesmen of all time, or as the greatest criminals.'

He also said:
“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over”

Whoever can conquer the street will one day conquer the state, for every form of power politics and any dictatorship-run state has its roots in the street.”

“If the day should ever come when we [the Nazis] must go, if some day we are compelled to leave the scene of history, we will slam the door so hard that the universe will shake and mankind will stand back in stupefaction..”

It's interesting to me how, while I was growing up I was taught that the USSR, as it was known then, used propaganda on it's citizen but there was no mention that my own government was using propaganda on me. That is a real light bulb moment when one figures that out on their own and not because someone tells them that is the way it is.

There are some good points being presented here and I appreciate each one and thankful that others see them as well.

There is always the illusion of freedom.....you know..... 'free then.....' but of course that is to freedom.... that is a pretender to freedom.

That is why there will always be classes so as to maintain the illusion of freedom. I mean, you have to give the slaves motivation. "If only I had ____ I would be free."

In a way, it's the idea of freedom that enslaves us. It's one of those ironies of life.

Do you think a king is free? No, a king is only relatively free which means a king is also relatively a slave as well.

Relative freedom is a ghost of Freedom.
