Reports are at least 3 are shot.

There is a King Soopers supermarket in the area, a large shopping center..

High powered long range rifle is the report. They feel that the shooter is "contained", but not stopped..

Shooter is barricaded in the Planned Parenthood building, and is wearing camo or "hunting gear"..

ATF, FBI, Sheriff's office, and local officers are on scene. This is very near to a residential area.. The area (the road) goes to Garden of the Gods.. (all coincidence or something else?)

A witness is describing the person as a white male, white beard, tall, about 6 foot.. but hunting gear is being worn.. Shots are coming out of the windows towards the police, with 3 officers down.

no motive, no statement, no negotiations (at the moment) with this shooter.

the shooter is NOT detained, but held up within the building with apparently at least one hostage.

Ambulances are lining up - as they are saying, they don't know if there are casualties inside the building. 3 outside the building are down.

They don't know how many "civilians" are injured if any.. The firepower is currently in question, as to what else if any, is present with the shooter..

Officers do NOT know if there are others associated (terrorist or lone wolf gunman)..

They are stationing officers and checking all other businesses/offices in the complex.

It is snowing, weather is bad as is the situation. The current representative for the police are saying now the perpetrator is NOT contained, everything is in flux.. many unknowns and confusion..

Swat teams and heavy artillery is on the scene 'just-in-case' it is bigger than at first noted.

An ex-Swat team member being interviewed has stated that the authorities have the ability to BLACK OUT all cellphone coverage, all TV, RADIO in the area, and will do so to be in total control of information flowing in the area. (I find that revelation very significant).. The lock-down is beginning to spread, but at this point, MEDIA blackout is starting to happen.

It looks like this incident started about 11:30 am local time.. People are saying they are being kept, "sheltered in place" for at least 2 and 1/2 hours.

Apparently they are using a BEAR-CAT robot camera vehicle with may be able to fire on the Perp.. if it is armed.

It is INDEED interesting we are being allowed to hear these activities of SWAT.. I still don't feel this is a false flag.. What is being observed is MSM is/has been told to NOT report, but keep things more light, talking about hostages released... but this inside view is important.. As I pointed out El Paso Sheriff's department ADVOCATES that people DO NOT DISARM incase some sort of removal of protection is forced, that the County WILL NOT listen to ANY FEDERAL doctrine to disarm the citizens..

It could very well be. Colorado though is HIGHLY against gun control of any kind, with a MAKE MY DAY LAW in place - Citizens in their homes (or businesses) CAN shoot to kill if they are feeling that their lives are threatened by some attacker, some perp who has said (or does) INVADE their space.. Castle Doctrine Laws..

My concern is HomeLand Security should have said, IF they want to know why did this guy do this, is it terrorism, is it a LONE WOLF gunman, OR conspiracy, capture the guy, hold him and interview him..

About the question of the Hostages supposed to carry guns. Some would, I know plenty of people who have Concealed Carry permits. In Colorado, one could have a shotgun under the counter if they are concerned, as do most gas stations for instance..

A gun being pointed at one, with a hostage taken, held at gun point, it is possible the people in the building were NOT able to deal with it.. Again, something WHY the FBI is interviewing the hostages, and it would be very important to interview an ALIVE perp.. FIND OUT WHY..

A report from the officer's representative says they DID try to dialog with him, and his response was to SHOOT, and apparently that is the justification to shoot to kill.. just guessing based on what is being talked about now on local news in Colorado Springs.

I've traveled near that area (the office is not too far from there) and it's pretty close to the Interstate too.. It's possible besides the homes being shot at, driver's on the interstate are at risk also.

Shortly after that statement made by Swat, I am pretty sure I heard ONE shot which came over a voice activated mike from one of the officers.. It could have been compassion or new commands sent down from HQ wherever that is, take this one alive, find out what and why.. Right now all the cars in the parking lot are being swept for IED's or anything that could be a continuation of this..

I do personally feel seeing this happen before on PA, when the group is motivated, planetary consciousness Miracles do happen. It happened with the floods in Colorado some years back, miracles happened.. maybe we saw it happen again..

Those of us who were listening to the LIVE feed that the Swat team were dialoging on.. can compare what we heard with what MSM is saying.

One OFFICER shot during this incident "has died" it has been reported. That has not been independently verified at this time.

Listening to the officer's voices one can hear the frustration in their voices, attempting to deal with the cleanup.

Additional reports - this is where it gets a bit strange.. There is a BearCat VEHICLE being reported as being outside which allowed some hostages/victims to retreat to outside..

BUT there is mention of some sort of surveillance robot, being able to drill holes in a wall at one point, and that the "bearcat-1" is outside the door, and discussion about how to shoot at the "target" (keep the shot low)... I suppose we are hearing some spin happening in the media to have people focus on the stuff outside, and not the tactical methods being used INSIDE nor the capabilities of portable weapons systems. Normally bomb disposal robots are able to unpack suspicious packages, and allow for them to be disarmed..


Officers initially had no contact with the suspect inside the clinic. Buckley said the gunman did not make any demands or at first make any statements to officers. Later in the afternoon, Buckley said officers were able to get close enough to the suspect to shout at him.

"At that point, they were able to get him to surrender," she said.

In the meantime, officer worked to rescue people trapped inside the clinic, using an armored SWAT truck called a BearCat. In one run with the vehicle, first responders unloaded an apparently injured person onto a gurney. In two more runs, people wrapped in blankets and others wearing hospital scrubs walked out of the truck.

Some of the rescued exited the BearCat wearing only T-shirts in weather that had dipped into the low 20s with snow. A line of more than a dozen additional ambulances waited at the scene to take them to the hospital.

This is an image of a swat-bot with weapon and silencer mounted...possibly having this thing running around with SWAT teams in the Springs is going to get people upset that such firepower exists.. Seems to me tho, PERPS would maybe understand "resistance is futile.." Dunno about the psychology..

Washington post reports 3 are dead. One officer who was from a local University Police department (University of Colorado) and then two Civilians. New South Wales Police are being trained to shoot terrorists on sight rather than try to contain them and negotiate, in a change of policy prompted by recent attacks.

Acting Police Commissioner Nick Kaldas said the new approach was needed in the terrorist environment where "you're dealing with someone who is there with a preconceived aim of dying and who wants to kill as many people as they possibly can".

He said in that scenario, it was "far more urgent for police to intervene".

"In situations where people's lives are being threatened as we speak and perhaps being killed even - that would be a terrorist incident - in those cases we certainly would have to look at it differently.

"We would have to react differently and we would have to move almost immediately."

However, Mr Kaldas said, in most other cases where police deal with armed offenders, officers will still try to use the "contain and negotiate" approach that has been in place for two decades.

"For example, if someone is in a domestic violence situation or if someone has been cornered doing an armed robbery, they're not there to die, they don't wish to die, that's not their ultimate aim, that's not their objective," he said.

"For us, contain and negotiate is about containing a situation so nobody else puts them in harm's way, and it's then about negotiating that person out of that situation.

"Experience and statistics make it very clear that the longer you go in those sorts of situations, the more chance there is of it ending peacefully. But certainly in the terrorism situation that's not the case."

NSW Police learning US's FBI tactics

The comments come three weeks after police launched an armed offender training program, based on tactics used by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

"It hasn't, as yet, here in Australia at least, caused us any drastic problem, but it's certainly something we can readily deal with," he said.

"What it has done also is reinvigorate the need for old fashioned detective work, in many respects.

"It's not something we're afraid of, it's not something that we haven't seen here and it's something I'm confident we can work around."

He said Australian law enforcement authorities were among the best in the world.

"I cannot stand here and give anyone a guarantee we'll stop all terrorism, but so far so good.

"Our people are amongst the best going, not only nationally but internationally, and I'm confident we are doing all we can to address the threat that we face in Australia."

Victoria Police are keeping tactics under wraps

Victoria Police would not reveal if officers were being trained to shoot armed extremists on sight, like their counterparts in NSW.

Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton briefed Cabinet Ministers about the state's counter-terrorism measures at a meeting in Wangaratta.

He said Victoria Police had changed its policy, but he not would discuss details.

"We don't call it shoot to kill, but we have had a long-standing tradition of cordon contain, as part of our processes," he said.

"We have done a reassessment of that earlier this year in relation to terrorism events.

"We don't go into detail about our tactics, but from about my time starting as Chief Commissioner, we did have a change of policy in that area."


In Colorado it definitely IS shoot to kill..same with Texas.

Stalkers invading a home-owner's home or business, as that perp Robert Dear, who was the shooter at Planned Parenthood (this thread), or their business where the LEGITIMATE gun-owner, can protect his life and those in the home/office/business.

This is the new credo for Montréal police as well.

Few years ago, there was a shoot out at Vanier College from a lone shooter. Police just had had some courses so they intervened immediately and shot to kill the gunman, which happened, and there was only one death amongst the students. Otherwise it would have been a rampage, the gunman was equipped.

I have difficulty seeing though how this could be managed with someone strapped with explosives - and how the policeman would know they are or not strapped with explosives, and not having everybody around therefore killed..

Well, from a being shot at point of view, I think there if pros and cons in both situations.
