So I have been to the Philippines highest peak these fast few days. Back home when I turned on my handy music box, I found out that I no longer like the music. I felt that I am craving for instrumental music, mountain magic perhaps :). Does anyone has a suggestion for a good instrumental music.

thanks in advance

Bubu I would suggest checking out anything by Dan Gibson. I have 250 of his albums and absolutely love what he does. He basically mixes classical/instrumental with ambient/nature sounds. Also, the Vitamin String Quartet does instrumental spins on pop songs. :)

thanks Robin , I will check it out. I dont have much experience on classical music so i am trying to be careful in the selection process. Good to get it from those who have been there.

Hello Bubu,

Here are some that I like:
Ludovico Einaudi
Modern Day Italian classical pianist and composer. Here is his channel on YouTube:

And here is a piece of his that I particularly like called, Primavera:

Yiruma
Modern day pianist and composer (I think he is Korean?). YouTube mix:

And a piece I particularly like:

Karl Jenkins

Here's a piece he is famous for... They used it in the British Airways advert many years ago:

There are many more modern composers... Happy to share more if you are interested.

If you're are interested in more traditional classical music but are not sure where to start, you could do worse than:

Piano music from Chopin:

Harp music played by Yolanda Kondonassis:

Cello music (mostly with accompaniment) played by Julian Lloyd Webber:

And here is a piano duo that deserves its own post for the imaginative and sometimes funky things they do with their interpretations of classical and modern music on the piano....

The Anderson Roe piano duo: http://www.andersonroe.com/videos/

Here are three modern interpretations:
Viva La Vida (interpretation of the Coldplay song)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SobrVBFwJo

Billie Jean (yes the Michael Jackson song)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yioMN-meE0o

Libertango by Piazzola. This one has a little a story in the video and gets a little "heated"

And finally, since it's that time of year, Sleigh Ride:

And there are many more....

I have quite a bit of classical music from my days boing ballet and playing piano, so if anyone would like more suggestions, feel free to PM me.

I have a deep interest in Irish traditional music and as a result of following the variously branching careers of some of my favourite artists I discovered Nightnoise (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightnoise). Perhaps they will take your fancy too?

All the best...
