Does anyone have information concerning early UFO sightings in Scandinavia (i.e. before ca 1900)?
I have not located much information yet, but am aware of a more than 400 years old eyewitness account of a strange sighting:
Danish farmers saw what they interpreted as a wagon and a group of people(?) on a meadow near a Danish village. The strangers were dressed in strange clothes and running around among each other with long shiny staves and lifting each other into the air. Thereafter they vanished before the farmers eyes and strange sounds were heard in the sky by the farmers and others. The sighting was documented by a the nobleman and scholar Holger Rosenkrantz who interviewed the eyewitnesses shortly after it happened.
The nature of the sighting has been much discussed, but no-one has yet produced a valid explanation. The Rosenkrantz account has by some been called the first UFO sighting in Denmark. The full content of the account has to my knowledge not been available in English until last year when the oldest available source document in The Royal Library in Copenhagen has been translated and published.
If interested, please see this book (https://www.lulu.com/shop/search.ep?keyWords=jesper+paasch&type=).
I am looking for similar, early observations.
