David Bowie And The Story Of Ziggy Stardust (BBC Documentary)
gRiTngOAQps
Published on 1 Apr 2013
David Bowie and the story of Ziggy Stardust
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is arguably the most
important album in the mind-blowing career of David Bowie. Released in 1972, it's
the record that set the mercurial musician on course to becoming one of the best-
known pop stars on the planet. In just over a year, Bowie's messianic Martian
invaded the minds of the nation's youth with a killer combination of extraterrestrial
rock 'n' roll and outrageous sexuality, all delivered in high-heeled boots, multi-
coloured dresses and extravagant make-up. In Bowie's own words, Ziggy was 'a
cross between Nijinsky and Woolworths', but this unlikely culture clash worked -
Ziggy turned Bowie into stardust. This documentary tells the story of how Bowie
arrived at one of the most iconic creations in the history of pop music. The songs,
the hairstyles, the fashion and the theatrical stage presentation that merged
together to turn David Bowie into the biggest craze since the Beatles. Ziggy's
instant success gave the impression that he was the perfectly-planned pop star.
But, as the film reveals, it had been a momentous struggle for David Bowie to hit
on just the right formula that would take him to the top. Narrated by fan Jarvis
Cocker, it reveals Bowie's mission to the stars through the musicians and
colleagues who helped him in his unwavering quest for fame - a musical voyage
that led Bowie to doubt his true identity, eventually forcing the sudden demise of
his alien alter ego, Ziggy.

David was born on January 8th, 1947.
On that day the sun and Mars were conjunct,
at 17 degrees of Capricorn.
So it's interesting how he had that fascination with Mars.
What made 2015 such a difficult year for him was that Uranus at 17 degrees of Aries made a right angle to his Sun-Mars conjunction.
Whenever I feel the need to prove that astrology works I just look for the times when Mars makes a right angle to Uranus, or worse still, Uranus makes a right angle to Mars.
Since Uranus completes an orbit every 80 years, compared to Mars' every two years it sits at that 90' spot for ages, bringing the person one harsh event after another.
RIP, David. Your work was an inspiration from the first time I heard your music.

A true legend and a true innovator.
For me, I have always felt lucky living in the same age as David Bowie even if I have not always listened to his music. It felt secure in some way to see that there was at least one genius in the world, daring to go his own way.
He was the source to so many angles of the modern music, always inventing himself, always finding aspects that noone knew existed.
His importance will only become bigger and clearer now that he is gone. Noone can even come near to his magnitude.
He has now reached the highest stage of initiation. Fly to the stars, starman, where you belong.

I was just listening to The man who sold the world and then saw the news.
I also heard that song before hearing about this (!) - have to take a closer inspection of the lyrics now. It's been a thoroughly non-ordinary day (not that there are ordinary days) After I heard the song I found myself pondering for quite a while at just how influential he's been, and continues to be. I was remembering vividly hearing Nirvana's cover of The Man Who Sold The World, and how not long after that Curt Cobain died. Then I got to my 'work', and suddenly found out.
Funnily enough, I don't often seem to be affected by these sorts of passings, but with those two, it's felt really affecting. It seems part of their mission here, as with many other men and women of this type of fame, is/was to have their life and work analysed over and over again after their passing, as if in death their life suddenly becomes super-real, and what they had to share becomes explored all the more. I can't explain why, but all through the day today I've felt this huge affection and gratitude towards The Duke, and that's not normal for me, with things like this.
I got the feeling after listening to a semi-Bowie-driven Radio show (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06tx3l2#play) (and nearly breaking down crying on several occasions), that he had a strong notion that his death was not going to be the end of his conciousness. Related to that, I heard about his last emails to Brian Eno (very close friend and close collaborator) - it was the most beautiful thing. They had a really strong comic sensibility together, and would often sign off emails with ridiculous names. A week ago Bowie ended his last email to him with this:
"Thank-you for the good times Brian, they will never rot,
Dawn"
From Brian in his message to the media today - "I now realise he was saying goodbye".
Have a great trip David.
May The Dawning be infinitely more than you could possibly have imagined.

David Bowie as Nicola Tesla
PF76qlwWM8s
"The prestige" is one of my favourite movies, much because of David Bowie as Tesla. It seems so logical, who else could have played him so brilliantly? Hugh Jackman clearly acts, Bowie just... is.
This discussion they are having always strikes me. It seems to be about something completely different than the machine Angier wants:
"First time I tried to change the world, I was hailed as a visionary.
Second time, I was asked politely to retire. So here I am, enjoying my retirement."
I can recognize an obsession, no good will come of it.
(Angier: Why, haven´t any good come from your obsessions?)
At first, but I followed them for too long. I am their slave, and one day they will choose to destroy me."

Occult references also in his early work. Here is Quicksand from one of the most brilliant albums he released. I have no idea how many times I have listened to Hunky dory over the last 40 years. I never grow tired of it
I'm closer to the Golden Dawn
Immersed in Crowley's uniform
Of imagery
I'm living in a silent film
Portraying Himmler's sacred realm
Of dream reality
I'm frightened by the total goal
Drawing to the ragged hole
And I ain't got the power anymore
No, I ain't got the power anymore
I'm the twisted name on Garbo's eyes
Living proof of Churchill's lies, I'm destiny
I'm torn between the light and dark
Where others see their targets, divine symmetry
Should I kiss the viper's fang?
Or herald loud the death of Man
I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore
Don't believe in yourself , don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release
Aah-aah, aah-aah, aah-aah, aah-aah
I'm not a prophet or a stone-age man
Just a mortal with the potential of a superman
I'm living on
I'm tethered to the logic of Homo Sapien
Can't take my eyes from the great salvation
Of bull**** faith
If I don't explain what you ought to know
You can tell me all about it on the next Bardo
I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore
Don't believe in yourself , don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release
Aah-aah, aah-aah, aah-aah, aah-aah
Don't believe in yourself , don't deceive with belief
Knowledge comes with death's release

David Bowie's music is exceptional music with exceptional duet in collaboration with other great artists, and yet full of satanism and occultic links. Bowie is known to be connected to those 'realms' and his energy leaves no doubt to what is holding the rein, our enjoyment of liking to shake our booty and admire and idolise those profoundly mind - body controlled/orchastrated artists is providing others the portal they need and our agreement and consent to allow this type of energy which is prevalent in our world today so much so that it allows itself to erect a statue in the middle of Detroit (http://vigilantcitizen.com/latestnews/the-satanic-temple-unveils-a-massive-statue-of-baphomet-in-detroit/). We sometimes don't want to give up on the 'fun' of it all, even if the cost to our human liberation is/will be great, we always hope to see the political, educational and mainstream media organistaion fall but many times am overlooking that which 'entertain us', or perheps we don't yet see how it all energetically ties together? Awekening is a step by step process that apparently introduces us to the entire doctrine of energy investment, everything around us in this world is orchastrated this way, while our beingness is preyed upon to turn collective otherwise healthy manifestations to become diverted
Bowie, such a great preformer and a chameleon that changes colors, and what lies within all this show? what is being sneaked under our noses, our ears, our senses, presented to our sub-conscious waiting for our energy of approval... and we give.. every time without a fail, clinging into the nostalgia of our youth and adulthood and not recognising that music and Holywood and over theatricle television like performances are being constructed on those same foundations that we so strongly question... for our energetic vote is required and our expected unconscious consumption is counted upon

I can see your point, Limor. Really.
But where would one draw the line?
Teen years are about exploring all ends of the spectrum, and long as we can pass through those phases, without getting stuck there, we can then get on with our lives and make the ultimate choice who we wish to be, and what we wish to do with our lives, which is then up to each one individually. Ideally that freedom will never be denied.
I was a Bowie fan until the early eighties, and only later decided to take a different route, one of service, having been given the big picture.
Away from the narcissism of my younger years.
Having studied astrology I can see from his chart, quite clearly, that he was being "managed" at times, and in some interviews I listened to yesterday, he himself admitted that the words of his songs appeared all of a sudden, and that he felt compelled to write. But not always. There were many conscious choices in his work, too.
Also years ago I read something about him having had close encounters with greys, which apparently triggered his career.
The society before the sixties was one of rigid mass control and he and others of that era helped to break that up.
And after that period many people could fully explore cosmic stuff on their own, having been freed to do so, by the likes of Bowie and other artists.
It gave them a chance at taking a plunge into trying the forbidden fruit, which were sexuality, egotism, narcissism. But at least after tha they could choose a path of acquiring virtues on their own, without having had that path forced upon them by society. The options to make choices were finally being presented.
But if we look at the music scene now, my opinion is that Bowie was nowhere near where the newer "artists" are at, when it comes to dark influences.. And while he might have played with some ideas, out of curiosity, he certainly never went into the ritualistic aspect of organized occultism. I'm pretty sure of that. It would not ever have been his style. He was not corruptible the way artists like Rihanna are.
He even refused to accept the title of knighthood, out of modesty.
Plus he was always kind, and helpful, in real life. A real desire to free the underdogs of our world from oppression...the indigenous, blacks, and women.

Indeed, I believe every great artist operates under a such a compulsion to create, so much so that the greatest creative works throughout history would not exist, otherwise.

Brits chairman Max Lousada said the "extraordinary life and work" of "one of our greatest icons"
would be honoured at the show, at London's O2 arena, on 24 February.
A memorial concert is also planned for New York's Carnegie Hall in March.
The Music of David Bowie was billed as a tribute show featuring his songs, but has now been changed to a memorial.
Bowie died of cancer at the age of 69, it was announced on Monday.

I see the reality of negative influence rarely being challenged in the entertainment industry, or anywhere in modern social media, never in "publicly funded programming" and rarely in corporate controlled fake news., as Limor does here, and I completely agree with her assessments. It is of no coincidence that my conversation with my son last night was all about David's obviously kind and gentle, humane nature, despite the openly negative aspects within some of the themes he presented. He was able to focus on David's humanity, even though I doubt he listened to much of his music, It was David's kindness that is what we both got a strong impression of. Ulli has echoed that in her posts here.
Limor's post is where we perceive the depth of the, again, Tavistock institute's influence injecting darkness on a massive scale in the music industry. It has resulted in the drivel and deeply satanic, materialistic, lower energetic of the music industry as it is these days, a result of society rarely challenging anything popular unless they came from the pseudo-opposition of some imaginary opponent like organized religion. Of course organized religion is often as dark or darker than most of those who openly advertise their lower energetic masters.
It has never been a concern of mine in relation to my understanding of how things are because I raised my son telling him, showing him the explicit nature of the symbolism injected into popular music. However, because whatever has been presented for so many years, 50 years at least, is most of what other parents have had to listen to they, without some personal experience of the effects of the darkness upon the soul, and thus are generally ignorant of it's power upon their real choices. Few recognize without getting "born again" the depth of what has influenced the life their generations have lived. It is why I often, though I am not from their group and share little in common with them, listen to the viewpoint of those who have taken to exposing the darkness, even if it is from a biblical viewpoint. Consequently, out of hand, I reject those who attack them for their beliefs. Why criticize and not love those who are awakening, even if they do it from a reactionary view or take a long course to see what we see immediately.
When we accurately point out the obvious negative influences, even from generation thru generation, it is as if we invalidate the connectivity many have to some vibrant parts of their lives. The darkness, in it's connectivity to the symbology and actual choice of the music itself and influenced by real occult practices injected into the master tapes and digital recordings (see the testimony of John Todd), has hijacked a major portion of the energetic within popular music for many years. It has resulted in some very manipulated, very ignorant, and asleep generations of humans.
I was not ever worried when my son started his journey into making his own music because he was taught to use discernment and to be aware of how the music made him feel. I then was not surprised when he rejected guitar masters like joe satriani and steve vai, while learning their playing techniques, because he felt the influences and saw either illuminati or satanic, drug oriented or over-sexualized symbology. The symbology makes you aware of what the music really contains at it's core. It was his choice to find his own way, pick out the beauty that may have existed in some phrasing and then consciously create his own expressions. I could see the process being highly conscious in his development. In fact it was something of a sense of good work when Freeman, a heart-centered researcher on the darkness within contemporary music, complimented him on one of his long yt series exposing these manipulations within his generation, the truth being that it was Freeman himself who was an inspiration for him. Thank You Freeman!
On the other hand it was the awakening that Stevie Ray Vaughn had out of the darkness of his addictions, before the band itself did, that inspired my son to understand the components, both musically and lyrically that Stevie expressed after his sobriety took effect. It was and still is a clear path into the power of awakening, beyond just getting sober, that Stevie showed many the way he created and lived. Stevie would openly talk about the healing and his trials in between songs at some of his concerts and it wasn't preachy. It was openly about loving each other and taking care of each other. He was a reminder from a friend at a distance, but from within the intimacy of his musical, his spiritual expression. And although we both highly value Stevie's music I get a strong sense of his curiosity and great kindness that made his short stay on this planet so valuable. It is of no wonder that he played with Bowie at one time and that Bowie had once helped him out early on.

This article was on David Ickes headline page yesterday , I was not going to post
it , but we all know Hollywood and the entertainment industry has strong
links to the intel services and various nefarious groups. There are always many
accusations and who are dupes or actively embracing these cults etc is open to
debate....Bowie and others were children of the 50's and 60's when drugs were
legal and MK Ultra and mind control experiments were going on.....
Maybe we should be giving all armies 'pot' and LSD...LOL
ISIS are reported to be using stimulants to enhance their forces,
the same ones used by other militaries in extreme circumstances
going back to WW11...

Tavistock – Mass Mind Control Through Pop Music

‘It was called the “British Invasion” . The 60’s began a time of “question authority”,
grow your hair long, hippies and flower power and morphed in with the Anti War
gang of “hell no we won’t go!”
All by design, all by planning to mind control and manipulate what the Baby Boomer
(Doomer) generation thought, the language and slang used and the behavior control
of the masses.
Yes, it is interesting to note that the Tavistock Institute of Human Relation, as well as,
it’s child organization: The Stanford Research Institute, developed The Grateful Dead,
among other things.
You can see that Alan Trist, a social engineer for the Tavistock Institute, became the
shadow manager of the Dead. His father, Eric Trist, was one of the principle founding
members of Tavistock.’

This has turned into a very interesting thread, beyond David Bowie´s vast work. There are so many things to say about the background and purposes of the modern music industry it deserves it´s own sub-forum. All your posts are so very interesting.
I will just throw out a lot of thoughts that has come to me when reading your posts, please bear with me. I get triggered as the researcher I professionally am and wish it could be possible to try to get some answers, not only rumours.
Bowie can be seen from som many angles and I for one am quite ambivalent as to which interpretation is the most "correct", I guess we will never know. There are so many facts, so many "on one side and on the other side" but this is also what makes it interesting! So many fascinating questions to look into!
It would be interesting to compare his career to those artists that are mentioned in the Laurel Canyon thread. What were the machinery behind it all?
Yes, Bowie was a genius but being a genius also comes with some sacrifices. As mentioned, the artist has a compulsion to create, it lies in the nature of being an artist. Experimenting with a lot of attitudes is also a part of it. Which artist has not been seen as revolutionary and inconvenient during their earliest years? There are so many, the preraphaelites, the impressionists, Mozart! The advantage we have is that we can interpret Bowie because we have been living in the same age although perhaps not even this can be proven to be enough. But - we can never see through the probable influence of the dark forces behind the music industry of today which is a quite new concept in history. Or can we? If so, how?
Yes, he dealt in the occult for a while but it was almost in fashion to do it at the time. Everyone was more or less disciples of Crowley, some remained, some didn´t, I would like to know who. For example, there are rumours Bowie was part of OTO in LA.
What Bowie´s part in the diabolic sides of the music industry really was, I think we will never know. He could have been a instigator, a gateopener, apparently showing the way into "the occult" and "the forbidden". He could also have started like that but then apparently went his own way, which takes some guts to do. Or was also this part of the game? How does that relate to the bigger scheme? Is it possible to compare him to other artists?
I really don´t know what kind of man he was, but he strikes me as a true seeker, one that can´t be tamed, not told what to do. I have read somewhere that Bowie made the video to Blue Jean as a parody of himself as an occult follower, that is quite brave and if it´s true shows a lot of self-distance!
What confuses me and saddens me most is why his last videos were so occult, dark and scary. There was no reason for this, was it?

David Bowie challenged social conventions outside of his music when he turned down a CBE and Knighthood.
The Ziggy Stardust singer was offered a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2000, which the Queen awards to those who have made “a distinguished, innovative contribution to any area” of British life.
While most would be flattered with the gesture, he refused it, explaining at the time: “I seriously don’t know what it’s for.”
RexThe duke wasn't a knight
Then in 2003 he rejected a knighthood in recognition of “having a major contribution” to British life which was “inspirational and significant… over a long period of time.”
While musical pals Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John and Sir Mick Jagger are among the few elite rock stars who have accepted the award, Bowie again declined, saying: “I would never have any intention of accepting anything like that. It’s not what I spent my life working for.”

I loved David Bowie's music and he was a true artist. I first got his "Let's Dance" album on cassette tape as a teenager in the early 80's, then "Fame" on a record and "Ziggy Stardust" much later on cd. As a young adult, Bowie was very attractive to us as young women and gay men, being a fan just brought together open minded people who like to dance. I don't think 'dark energy' infected any of us thru the music or culture. I can see how that can happen but I think more often, the energy is light and freedom to feel joy in dance and song.
I thoroughly enjoyed the enlightening BBC doc video about the making of "Ziggy Stardust" posted by Cidersomerset:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRiTngOAQps
That doc informed me of Bowie's early formative years as a performer. He really studied mime and acting professionally which lay the groundwork to his ever-changing stage personas.
I wondered if he was still married to Iman and then happened to see these pics from CBS site:

I will never consider David Bowies or my favorite bands like The Grateful Dead as emissaries of Satan. There are powerful energies for sure, just as powerful as the energies that create our lives on earth. Rock and roll in its rawest forms are in the divine creative forcefield as shamanic dance is, playing with the fire of yin and yang, of life and death. There is more danger in driving a car than participating in a rock show. I'd just be wary of shows with too much testosterone flying around and any music that promotes violence. Mostly, music that moves one's spirit, motivates emotive dancing and releases bodily suppression/repression is a good thing, imo.

I thought I'd just post this cute channeled message from him.
"(Laughing) I always had a bit of a God Complex didn’t I? Now I am God…well returned to Him/Her, anyway.
What can we do in your honor?
I invite people to realize their full potential Self. That’s what I did.
What I leave as a gift to my friends is a bit of genius and the courage to express it. That is needed in the world. It is not my genius, however. It came from God. I always was a believer, even in the times when I didn’t think that I was.
In the end, of one particular journey anyway, it is not about influence, money or fame, although I experienced all of those things. It is about love. That is the most important truth and legacy.
I invite my friends to not grieve for me, but to celebrate all that we shared. I have been blessed by friends all over the world.
I am so touched by your love. Love connects us now and always. If you need a Star Commander look to your own selves. I was just one who helped open the door.
Look up here. I’m in heaven. I’ve got scars that can’t be seen. I’ve got drama that can’t be stolen. Everybody knows me now.
This way or no way, you know I’ll be free. Just like that bluebird. Now ain’t that just like me?"

I thought this video was worth posting. BBC News host Jeremy Paxman talks to David about the music industry and the internet (this was 1999). Could say David was making a prediction that the BBC's frontman of news didn't really want to swallow. Also at 10m 57s there's this
BBC Newsnight (1999)
Bowie: [the internet] I think we're actually on the cusp of something exhillerating and terrifying
Paxman: It's just a tool isn't it?
Bowie: No it's an alien life form (laughs)
Paxman: What do you, when you think then...
Bowie: (interupting) Is there life on Mars? Yes it's JUST landed here (smiles and Paxman chuckles)

I found this interpretation of "Blackstar" to be quite convincing. I don't know if there is a Planet X as Drunvalo Melchizedek states and Mr. Failey. There is much out there stating that David has not died. It does seem odd, the circumstances and in my mind places a "Question Mark". Did he die or is he on the island of Mustique? How would we know.
Here is the interpretation of Black Star:
