The "Federation of Atomic Scientists" published a paper in 1945 to Harry S. Truman warning him "We can afford to split the atom but we can't afford to split the big three".
What or who do you think the big three are?
The only atom with 6 electrons, 6 protons and 6 neutrons is carbon Could that be the big 3?

I did some digging but only found an old post of yours here postulating the same inquiry: http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?71497-666...can-be-benign&p=872763&viewfull=1#post872763
Interesting question ... I am curios as well. Is there a larger version of the image or a link to it's source?

Here is a better view from another link: http://scarc.library.oregonstate.edu/coll/pauling/peace/papers/peace4.012.7-statement.html

I'm not a physicist, but I have a feeling the testament may refer to either time travel or positional relocation (teleportation) (possibly non-positioning such as cloaking - Philadelphia experiment) ... The statement was "we can afford to split the atom, but we can't afford to split the big three." -- this wording indicates to me that splitting "the big three" is not a reference to splitting any atom, hence carbon is out, and the idea of "splitting" any atom is likely outside of that indication.
I'm feeling pretty strongly about my "feelings" as these were also likely areas of advanced physics that were being aggressively studied, along with discovery into splitting atoms.
Big three might indicate in that regard, Position, Acceleration, and Time? Rather heavy speculation.
Bill and a few others here know some physics, maybe one of them will chime in here ...

Ah thanks .. after enlarging ... to me it reads that the "Big three" are USA, Russia, and Great Britain. The emphasis was the importance on these three powers maintained aligned on an atomic treaty, in order to prevent a potential risk of the destruction of the USA from the world having acquired such a weapon. Without that alignment of these three "superpowers", a huge potential risk to the US and to the world might develop. Read the right hand column on the original article. I heavily paraphrased from there.
"... We urge that the president of the US immediately invite the gov'ts of GB and the Soviet Union to a conference in order to discuss the common danger created by atomic weapons and the plan for a joint approach by these three great nations ... which will prevent a competitive arms race, safeguard world peace ..."
After the atom had been "split" - it would be "unaffordable", to the world, for the "Big three" nations to split their views on this "common approach" of safeguarding of world peace, within the environment of the knowledge of how to produce such weapons. To me this is pretty clear that this is what that statement is about.

The big three - the pyramid of power , the three countries that control the world , we cant afford to sway power in favor of one over the other two , they feared the wrath of the syrian creator overlords ... who at the time controlled earth affairs through religion, and any communication openly spoken must be coded for those in the know ... it's why they didn't spell it out ...
