Glenn Frey of the Eagles has passed away at 67. A founding member of the Eagles with whom he won 6 Grammys, as well as a popular solo artist, Glenn Frey passed away today from a combination of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia.

It's become hip to trash the Eagles, but if you never saw them live, they were one of the few bands that could play a huge arena and make you feel like you were in a private concert. The music just washed over you and enveloped you in gorgeousness. The lush acoustic guitars, the perfect harmonies...

So many great songs, and all of them timeless.

Despite the animosity from their days together in the Eagles, Don Henley said, "He was like a brother to me; we were family, and like most families, there was some dysfunction. But the bond we forged 45 years ago was never broken." He added ... "We built something that has lasted longer than anyone could have dreamed. But Glenn was the one who started it all."

"We may lose, and we may win,
But we will never be here again."

Must be more people here that have been touched by all he has brought to us over the years?

Here is a very short CNN interview speaking to which of his songs he would wish to be remembered by:

The line "Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see. There's a girl my Lord, in a flatbed Ford slowing down to take a look at me." Was written by Jackson Browne. That's why he has a co-writer credit on the song.

Thank you! I was expecting the moment when someone would notice this.... It is for this reason that I posted the picture of Winslow Arizona... :waving:

I saw on the TV their first get back together event (When hell freezes over)
Their guitar parts fitted so well together--like an orchestra--the harmony, lead singing just as you would expect from them.
The fortunate thing about being a musician of sorts--I can hear the overall sound and each individual part that makes this unique group so special.

Many happy hours playing their music.

Glenn Frey seems as natural singing this song as he does any Eagles song, perhaps, I think this is a testament and a desire to honor some of the songs and artists who influenced him like Nat King Cole. I posted for the love of music... and Glenn

A gemme from Glenn and one of the best cd of 2012 imo: http://www.amazon.com/After-Hours-Deluxe-Edition-Glenn/dp/B007KCG7GM/ref=ntt_mus_ep_dpi_1/178-2187348-2890244

Their Hell Freezes Over tour DVD was my first surround sound, 5.1 speaker experience. Amazing sound. Great music and musicians. Lifetime of memories. Thanks Eagles and Glenn Frey! BTW, Don Henley's new solo record is really good. Leans more toward country than rock, but still really good music (not saying country isn't good music :) ).
