It is not without a sense of trepidation I reply to this thread, but as I cannot view it in isolation I will continue regardless.

Gaia, what are you doing? Yesterday at 13:59 you cheerfully submitted a new thread about the Falcon 9 rocket landing. You were enthused and posting sunny smileys. Then a discordant note entered the thread, it matters not whom, it could have been from anyone, and it seems to have affected your mood deeply. I'm going to assume this alone has not turned you sour, and rather that it was the straw that broke the camels back.

Almost 12 hours later you start a new thread announcing your wish to retire from Avalon, and, as to be expected from such a community there is going to be an outpouring of well wishes, love and concern.

Quite frankly this looks like an ego tantrum, and I suspect this because I've had enough of them in my life. I think we all have. But truth to tell we have to rise above these feelings, they have to flow through us, or around us, without upsetting our equilibrium. If, God forbid, you were to die in the next minute you would discover that not one jot of those feelings were important, they meant nothing. The only matters of import were the kind wishes, the heartfelt sharings, the things that uplift us.

You are allowing a small discordant note turn you away from all the warmth and good that can be found here. You will not find a perfect symphony during our current incarnation in this dimension.

Mayhaps you will find peace on your own, it is possible. But don't leave because you feel a little upset, that will pass and you know it will.

Quite frankly this is not the first thread of its kind I have seen here and I have been here less than a year. If we cannot help and heal each other what hope for the rest of humanity?

To me (and for a majority of users I think) the forums are area of ​​freedom belonging to those who run them.

The closure process is different for each of us. No doubt here are many reasons often rich in dimension. Some need to know they made a difference, some need to know people care, others do it for the friendships they’ve built. Lastly, it’s to assure everyone that the connections were meaningful and now it’s time to leave for no other reason but to leave.
