Ancient Babylonian use of the Pythagorean Theorem and its Three Dimensions (http://www.ancient-origins.net/human-origins-science/ancient-babylonian-use-pythagorean-theorem-and-its-three-dimensions-005199)

Very much like today, the Old Babylonians—20th to 16th centuries BC—had the need to understand and use what is now called the Pythagoras' (or Pythagorean) theorem. They applied it in very practical problems such as to determine how the height of a cane leaning against a wall changes with its inclination. This sounds trivial, but it was one of the most important problems studied at the time.

A remarkable Old Babylonian clay tablet, commonly referred to as Plimpton 322, was found to store combinations of three positive integers that satisfy Pythagoras' theorem. Today we call them primitive Pythagorean triples where the term primitive implies that the side lengths share no common divisor.

One needs complex understanding of mathematics to travel the vast universe , just sayin ... the flow of time , the movement of stars , their relationship to each other ... the knowledge of star traveling passed down to lower evolved races from higher evolved races ... the truth is right in front of you ...

Mathematics the language of the universe, begins with thought , matched with feeling then sent out in words , the vibration is felt and heard , then thought begins again -causality , reaping and sowing ... everything ancient history is saying points to the stars and to MATHMATICS ...we see it but dont SEE it ...

I used to love pythagorian theorems (yes, I learned them at high school, grade 9 - secondary II). Everyone would learn them by heart, not understanding them, but I did not have to. I just understood it and could logically answer the exam questions, without having to learn by heart. It is sooooo logical.

Because your not from Earth my cosmic friend ... soon as I saw your information/thread , I thought instantly Star travel ... without this base knowledge one would never leave a solar system ...

I absolutely love threads of ancient times where knowledge, math , language, building, construction, art , defies what we are told by the historians ... it always points to the movement of the stars , and tall people who were extraordinary, and ruled the day but had a mystery behind their person ...

Hi ghostrider
Yes and no I think
I see your example as a limiter, you will be held down in lower levels if you go by calculations.

It all comes down to metaphysics and passing through the mathematical lower D prison mind, your body dose not need your brain to apply maths!
You can walk between the seconds as easily as holding and inwardly compressing your own vibs, time stand still, same goes for jumping past the 'lower D distance barrier of maths', seeing at distance, no maths involved!

Hold on to maths for the above and you will stay in the mathematical prison!
Mathematics is the jailer in the lower D prison.
Dr RAM is one to study for this.

YES so much points to 'passed down to lower evolved races from higher evolved races'
But there higher evolved past maths, not relied on any more!

We/your body holds the key to all, it can do it all.
one day we will all be free like that, some have glimpsed, and they are the ones being them selves not mathematicians!

Forgot to say nice and interesting post Hervé
and as always love the evolution of a topic, not derailed but connected, expanded :sun:

Yes ghosty ;)
I have felt the open, clear, fresh tune this last week or so.
My inner, true me coming out to play in the sun as it where:sun:

I even witnessed this:

Circumzenithal arc, Bravais' arc. the photo of it in the above BBC is far weaker than where I saw it, it was directly above me, a multi colored smiley ;)

Ancient Babylonian astronomers used calculus to find Jupiter 1,400 years before Europeans (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-29/ancient-babylonian-text-earliest-use-of-calculus-for-astronomy/7121548)

The earliest known examples of mathematical and geometric astronomy have been identified in a series of ancient Babylonian cuneiform tablets.

Key points:

Five ancient Babylonian clay cuneiform tablets calculate Jupiter's motion across the sky
The tablets are thought to have been written in Babylon between 350 and 50 BCE
The discovery redefines our history books as it was thought calculus was first used in the Middle Ages
