This film series explores many aspects of our society. To rethink what is possible in our world, we need to consider what kind of world we want to live in. Although we refer to it as civilization, it is anything but civilized. Visions of global unity & fellowship have long inspired humanity, yet the social arrangements up to the present have largely failed to produce a peaceful and productive world. While we appear to be technically advanced, our values and behaviors are not. The possibility of an optimistic future is in stark contrast to our current social, economic, and environmental dilemmas. The Choice Is Ours includes interviews with notable scientists, media professionals, authors, and other thinkers exploring the difficulties we face.

Part I provides an introduction and overview of cultural & environmental conditions that are untenable for a sustainable world civilization. It explores the determinants of behavior to dispel the myth of “human nature”, while demonstrating how environment shapes behavior. The science of behavior is an important - yet largely missing - ingredient in our culture.

Part II questions the values, behaviors, and consequences of our social structures, and illustrates how our global monetary system is obsolete and increasingly insufficient to meet the needs of most people. Critical consideration of the banking, media, and criminal justice systems reveals these institutions for what they really are: tools of social control managed by the established political and economic elite. If we stay the present course, the familiar cycles of crime, economic booms & busts, war, and further environmental destruction are inevitable.

Part III explains the methods and potential of science. It proposes solutions that we can apply at present to eliminate the use of non-renewable sources of energy. It depicts the vision of The Venus Project to build an entirely new world from the ground up: a “redesign of the culture”, where all enjoy a high standard of living, free of servitude and debt, while also protecting the environment.

Part IV explains how it is not just architecture and a social structure that is in desperate need of change, but our values which have been handed down from centuries ago. They too need to be updated to our technological age, which has the potential to eliminate our scarcity-driven societies of today. Our problems are mostly of our own making, but we can still turn things around before the point of no return. It’s not too late for an optimistic outlook on the fantastic possibilities that lie before us.

I found the concept of the "resource based economy" really interesting. I realized while watching this that I have become pretty fatalistic regarding the human condition. I found Jacque Fresco and his vision of the future world of resource based society really uplifting and refreshing. Thanks Clear Blue Skies!

World currencies are likely to be revalued relative to a nation's/region's resources.

Soon...

What a grand concept! But, I keep thinking about all of the hearts and minds that have to change to allow a "Resource Based Economy" to function.

It seems so futile! But maybe that's just the mind control logic that world powers want us to have.

If we are the powerful beings that some say we are, and we take back our power, we could make it happen.

At a seminar once, I was told, that for people to change, it takes an extreme emotional event. After many observations since hearing that, I tend to agree. Common since or logic want bring about the needed changes.

A complete collapse of the world economy so that all currencies become worthless likely would cause most of us to change, but not the psychopathic rulers of the world. Can they be changed?

Currently, I have everything that I need. My home is payed for and I have no debts. I do work two part-time jobs, but only by choice, not because I need the money. I bought a new car last year using just the money earned from the part-time jobs in 2014. That statement wasn't intended as a boast. It was just to illustrate how comfortable I am.

Even when I see the value in the concepts proposed, unless something very uncomfortable or painful happens to me, I want change. The controllers have allowed me just enough wealth to make me fat and happy. Only if it's all taken away and I get cold and hungry, will I be motivated to change.

I'm not looking forward to a collapse of the world's economy. I don't want to be cold and hungry, but only then will there be enough motivation to change our systems. But will that be painful enough to motivate the psychopaths?

Will it just be Animal Farm all over again?

I really like The Venus Project, always have. It has great ideas and offers innovative approaches to many of todays most intractable problems. Sad fact is that values have to change in order for any of it be implemented. And "allegiance to methodology" is still fraught with the same inherent issues that all institutions have faced in the past - fervent fanaticism and rigid dogma. It reminds me of Atlas Shrugged, the Ann Rand novel.

Abundance and a resourced based economy are no-brainers, they are obvious solutions to today's out-of-control debt-based fiat money system and its leveraging of scarcity economics' fundamental tenet of supply and demand.

The onus, the point of control, must remain with the individual to ensure that an emergent society truly can continue to grow and adapt. A comprehensive computer system might assist human decision making but never should a machine be allowed to decide the fate of even one human being.

Good video. I enjoyed it. Slick, with very little mention of cybernetics - a small secret of the ultimate direction envisioned by this pioneering visionary and his followers.

Oh, well, who knows how it is going to play out ... unfortunately I can't see how many of those at the top of any power pyramid will likely "give up" their position unless the pyramid (system) itself collapses ... which has a greater possibility nowadays I reckon !

Plus, if as the maxim says "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" it would seem even less likely for change to willingly come about eh ?

However, I do like the idea of an "emergent society" although I suppose it'll come from the "ground up" (so-to-speak), one "heart / mind" at a time ...

The Venus Project looks, as far as it has been shown, to be moving in the right direction. However, a bridge must be built between our present very complex, interdependent, systems to those leading to the right agenda for a civilized humanity. Presently, what we have seems to have been deliberately constructed to the end of genocide and enslavement. What we need is the opposite Agenda toward which the Venus Project appears to portend. I cannot begin to understand the bankrupt spiritual agenda that with a world rich in ideas and wealth, all in their hands now, can only image death plots and mayhem for all life on this planet. It is more than time for Rockefeller and his ilk to step aside and allow and even help younger, healthier and visionary minds to create the bridges required to the Venus Project. The Military are wonderful organizers and their knowledge and brains should be employed to this end instead of to create horror, death and waste.

It would appear that it has been the Rulers plan from the beginning to remove people from the land, herd them into cities as cheap labor for the corporations of the military-industrial complex and when they had completed their uses of the people, send the corporations to China and pull the rug out from under the people of the country. Then, imprison them in the cities, destroy the environment and food systems, possibly Nuke the cities with bombs and diseases (they must get rid of the people whose money they have stolen) until we end up with the situation seen in the movie SOYLENT GREEN, which I viewed last night, where people are fed protein wafers made of the flesh of the dead and murdered. This is what these insane planners have in store for us people! It is they who should be in the prisons and execution chambers and not us.

The Vatican, the Rothschild's banking system and the USA military-industrial complex were planned to take over the world and give us the NEW World Order. However, it is a NEW Order with an old Agenda. How about a NEW Agenda which will accommodate all having what they need to live a fulfilling life which will allow them to contribute to a flourishing world of joy and plenty where loving and giving can exist. Presently, all resources are kept from the vast majority of people so that they barely scrape through each day producing the seeds for malcontent and mischief. In the meanwhile, the Clerics of every religion continue to spread controlling lies and create war and mischief in general life instead of the opposite. The Elite have conspired successfully and by computer to OWN almost all of the businesses on the stock market so that they might have TOTAL control of every aspect of trade, production, distribution, banking, farming, manufacturing, etc., etc., to the end that they might more easily be in a position to poison and kill us off and push the remaining people at the end of a gun into their bankrupt slavery. Unfortunately, those people at the THINK TANKS who earn millions for their warped plans for humanity know that the psychopaths want what they want and no GOOD ideas for us can be squeezed out of them or ever allowed to happen.
