Just found this online live map of geo-political events.

Liveuamap is opendata-driven media platform that change the way you receive latest news. Explore a map, messages, pictures and videos from the conflict zones.

The whole world is accessible on the map but I just linked to a current centre of activity.

Look at the map of the world and how far it is from Syria to Sweden. For how long did these children have to travel in search of safety?

I can't see the bigger picture. But from the bit I'm looking at I can feel the pain. Those innocent little souls, what must they make of this world?

How could anyone set in play a chain of events that would lead to this. That one photo is but a fraction of the total, there must be 10's of thousands in similar positions throughout Europe right now. The suffering is immense.

Look at that, I've managed to derail my own thread in the first post. The thread is to bring the map to your attention, but feel free to discuss the other points also.

From what I understand they should have been able to apply for refugee status in Serbia under EU laws, and stay in Serbia, which is much closer to their home country. So why they had to travel all the way to Sweden is a good question.
