check it out - the story that vanished after appearing in the Washington Post in the 1980's has dramatically reappeared:

Thanks for that. Good find, but I wonder why all references to this "death star" always say it is still very far away, when all the planet X proponents are saying it is very near already.

At this point it's still all only conjecture.
But you're right, at least they're acknowledging the possibility.

The article in the Washington Post years ago stated that some of the big guys at JPL and the Naval Observatory had discovered some irregularities in the orbits of the planets indicating that an extremely large body CLOSE BY was exerting an influence upon them. I can't remember all the details now but they had calculated that the celestial body was larger than Jupiter. Then the story went black. I had contacted Richard Hoagland about this in recent years and he did not have an update. So here it is again - this is interesting indeed. Now the theory is that the object is in the vicinity of the Oort Cloud which is RELATIVELY close to us.............even so it is still some AU away..............years ago when I heard this story I said BINGO it is Nibiru! (God Bless Zechiaria Sitchin, he was very talented!) None of this is saying anything about the object's orbit ............. anyway there is a slight chance we will know something about this story sometime soon......which is pretty exciting. The other story bantered about besides the Nemesis story (separate from this one) is that the Sun is a binary system and has a sister star.
Zeon I have no idea what the discrepancies in distances in the various narratives is about, sorry!

Hummm... Very interesting the way they dance around the topic. Stayed tuned, the real story soon to come.

Good find OP.
The thing about it is, when this Planet gets into view, as I believe it will do sooner rather than later, alot of people will have egg on their face. Lets say the nay men respond to that when it happens.

what makes it interesting is you can see many of the stars with a dark reflection to its left...
but what about the dark dots that aren't showing any stars off to its right?

No doubt you have a point but honestly while I find the snapshots of the sun to be fascinating I am never really sure what I am looking at, being no expert

I'm not an expert either, but when I go searching for invisible planets, what better place to look than public photos...
it seems possible that the instruments are picking up the reflection even though no visible light is showing...
and another note... There are many light dots showing, that don't have a reflection...

For most people, their fears will make it as if we are the finger, the box is another planet, and the cat is the aliens:

I find the thread title a bit misleading - nothing's official yet. Six months ago the official word was that Nemesis didn't exist, never mind Tyche:

Let's regard these all for now as conflicting hypotheses with equal rights to existence. That way, we won't miss anything.

"When the solar system's story is finally written, it's much more likely that it will have closer to 900 planets rather than the nine that we grew up with," said Alan Stern, a planetary scientist at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in Boulder, Colo.
http://weirdthings.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/oortcloudnasa-460x303.jpg
Brown and Stern say that the Oort Cloud represents a more likely prospect for worlds the size of Mars or Earth. The Oort Cloud surrounds our solar system with billions of icy bodies at distances as far out as 50,000 times the distance between the sun and Earth.
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/100104-mm-solar-system-planets.html
Scientists have studied a centuries worth of comet data and come to the conclusion that at least 20 percent of visible comets were kicked out of the Oort Cloud by a Jupiter-sized object lurking at the solar system’s outer edge. Eighty percent of objects pushed out of the Oort cloud could be explained by the gravity of the galaxy, but the remaining comets would have required an object 1.4 times the mass of Jupiter to kick them out.
In 1999, Matese and colleague Daniel Whitmire suggested the sun has a hidden companion that boots icy bodies from the Oort Cloud, a spherical haze of comets at the solar system’s fringes, into the inner solar system where we can see them.............
In a new analysis of observations dating back to 1898, Matese and Whitmire confirm their original idea: About 20 percent of the comets visible from Earth were sent by a dark, distant planet.
http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2010-11/30/dark-jupiter
The Oort cloud is an immense spherical cloud surrounding the planetary system and extending approximately 3 light years, about 30 trillion kilometers from the Sun. This vast distance is considered the edge of the Sun's orb of physical, gravitational, or dynamical influence.
http://weirdthings.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Kuiper_oort1-thumb.jpg
The outer extent of the Oort cloud defines the gravitational boundary of our Solar System.

http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/secret-giant-planet-sun-companion-1011201.html
Our sun may have a companion that disturbs comets from the edge of the solar system — a giant planet with up to four times the mass of Jupiter, researchers suggest.
A NASA space telescope launched last year may soon detect such a stealth companion to our sun, if it actually exists, in the distant icy realm of the comet-birthing Oort cloud, which surrounds our solar system with billions of icy objects.
The potential jumbo Jupiter would likely be a world so frigid it is difficult to spot, researchers said. It could be found up to 30,000 astronomical units from the sun. One AU is the distance between the Earth and the sun, about 93 million miles (150 million km).
Most systems with stars like our sun — so-called class G stars — possess companions. Only one-third are single-star systems like our solar system.
Comet-flinging sun companion
The researchers noted that most comets that fly into the inner solar system seem to come from the outer region of the Oort cloud. Their calculations suggest the gravitational influence of a planet one to four times the mass of Jupiter in this area might be responsible.
Two centuries of observations have indicated an anomaly that suggests the existence of Tyche, Matese said. "The probability that it could be caused by a statistical fluke has remained very small," he added.
The pull of Tyche might also explain why the dwarf planet Sedna has such an unusually elongated orbit, the researchers added.
Anyone else found any info on this topic?

Carmody, the cat is hilarious!
It reminds me of one of those boxes where you put a quarter in a slot and a hand comes out, grabs it and goes back in.
But the cat is better.

I admit the title to this post is misleading as str8thinker said................I posted this news quickly and excitedly because a story that vanished years ago had reemerged. By 'official' I meant openly acknowledged in the media (again).................but official I suppose really means confirmation of an actual discovery by NASA, JPL, Naval Observatory, etc. But who knows if that will ever happen even if someone actually snaps a shot of the object? I hope so anyway............

Bob Dean: The Coming of Nibiru mentioned about it in great detail.
He related to the Annunaki, Zecharia Sitchin, the planet X (Nibiru), etc.

When the Vatican unveiled it's new infrared telescope which they named LUCIFER, which supposedly is an acronym for: "Large Binocular Telescope Near-infrared Utility with Camera and Integral Field Unit for Extragalactic Research"!! - shortly after NASA launched "WISE" which is also infra-red, I became curious as to what was up and wondered what prompted all this attention again for something that could only be seen with infra-red.
Although after listening to Andy Lloyds video where he says infra red telescopes need to be kept very cold, I wondered how effective the Vatican's would be. Although it's in S. Arizona it's on Mt. Graham, which is around 10,000 ft., that wouldn't be nearly as cold as WISE in outer space.
On the other hand, originally Mt. Graham was a spiritual place of the Native Americans and they believed it was a threshold into other dimensions. Maybe the Vatican will have the advantage!
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds ~ too bad Sitchin didn't hang around to see this.
