Why not use insects to find them explosives.......
Bees perhaps........
To address the problems associated with traditional landmine detection methods, an innovative team of scientists has come up with a way to detect landmines without risking the lives of people or animals. This method, which uses honey bees, provides a number of advantages:
* Bees are too light to detonate mines.
* Bees don’t favour any particular master.
* Conditioning takes only a couple of days.
* Costs are lower.
* Local bee keepers are provided with additional employment.
* Encouraging bees to visit helps to reestablish agricultural systems in war-torn regions, as approximately 80% of crops depend on them for pollination.
Conditioned bees have shown a 97% or greater accuracy in finding landmines. Using similar conditioning methods, bees can also be used to detect bombs, drugs, and decomposing bodies. Although promising, the honey bee technique is subject to a couple of limitations:
* Bees won’t fly during bad weather, in very cold temperatures, or at night.
* Lidar only works effectively on flat landscapes.

Honey bees
This approach couples trained honey bees with advanced video computer software to monitor the bee for the strategic reaction. Trained bees serve for 2 days, after which they are returned to their hive. This proven system is not yet commercially available. Biotechnology firm Inscentinel claim that bees are more effective than sniffer dogs.

I travel a fair amount and do not believe these technologies are there to make it safer. they are there to gather information and to generate jobs. as the video shows dogs do a better job. without invading privacy.

WOW! I had no idea that bees are so talented. Not only do they provide the perfect food source for us, they can also replace the stupid and invasive body scanners. Between the dogs sniffing and the bees sensing, we can still be safe. :thumb:

So NOW we know where all the damned bees went!!
They all snuck off for government jobs!

I don't think it is fair to say "lying dogs' in that video - because dogs don't lie. Let us not degrade dogs by associating them with corrupt governmental officials. Dogs would not be able to set someone up - they are too honest. DOGS DON'T LIE.
And they use bomb-sniffing rats around the world to locate unexploded buried explosive devices. I never knew a rat, dog, or bee to LIE.
