Documentary Sheds Light on the Benefits of Vitamins

Beattie was inspired to make this film after Trevor, a close friend of three decades, told him he'd turned his life around; finally getting a handle on the depression that had plagued him. Removing sugar from his diet was the first step. Taking niacin (vitamin B3), was the second.

This tip was something Trevor had gleaned from watching the film, "Food Matters," in which Andrew Saul, Ph.D. talks about the usefulness of niacin in the treatment of depression.

His curiosity peaked, Beattie then heard about cases of people being brought back from the brink of death with the use of high-dose vitamin C, and how many chronic diseases appear to be outgrowths of various nutrient deficiencies.

But if vitamins are so effective for treating disease, including mental disorders like depression, why aren't doctors prescribing them instead of drugs? Together with Trevor, Beattie set out to investigate the truth of the matter.

Thank you GlassSteagalfan for this great movie. I will be getting a copy of this so I can show it to family members. I have been a naturalpath for several years now and recently have become vegetarian. I have never felt healthier in my life. I swim twice a week, practice yoga and working out in the gym at least once a week. I enjoy being active. I will be 67 this June and feel great. I am still trying to convince others that vitamins and other suppliments have great benefits to maintaining perfect health. Some people get it, many don't.

Thank you so much. I learned a lot in this vid. :clapping:

I learned about the various mega doses of vitamin C and D, and other supplements that Dr Saul and other people used; and that's very helpful because there is no consensus or recommendations for the types of mega doses that should be used with these products. I may even get Dr. Saul's book.

Many blessings to you.

I have posted this before but the short info on it is that vitamin B3, niacinimide or inositol hexiniacinate (for the very sensitive) was used by the great Dr.Abrahm Hoffer (the founder of the OrthoMolecular Journal) as a highly successful treatment for schizophrenia, in doses of 1 to 3 grams a day.

When the co-founder of AA, Bill Wilson, met him the use of vitamins in conjunction with a holistic, nutrition based diet as a sound basis for the chemistry of addiction treatment was adopted. Sadly, the majority of 12 step programs moved away from any such emphasis shortly after Bill W's death.
I have always viewed the chemistry of the brain, heart and gut as vital to cure, oftentimes more effective than the tremendous difficulties inherent in a purely mental approach, disproving in many cases the depth of guilt induction used in many of these programs.

Thanks for this. I am very much across nutrition personally but always open to gaining more awareness. Thanks :)

Not just vitamins, but minerals, amino acids, essential fats, and anti-oxidants.

"...why aren't doctors prescribing them instead of drugs?" asked GlassStegallfan.

Because the rich oil baron Rockefeller sided with the fraudulent Louis Pasteur in his debates with Antoine Beauchamp. Beauchamp was a naturalist who claimed that a healthy body would always fight off any pathogen that tried to take advantage. Pasteur claimed that pathogens were the true cause of all disease. Rockefeller essentially founded the petrochemical pharmaceutical business at that point and Mother Nature has been ignored in medical science ever since. The pendulum is slowing swinging back to the side of nature and true cures for "diseases".

I thought this was very well done. I am one to wish we would test for lack of vitamins, minerals, etc. to find out what the individual needs. Some people lack copper, some have levels to high for example. Not all vitamins are processed the same either. Vitamin C and E are water soluble and you can handle huge amounts of them, long term. High doses of B vitamins are not water soluble and the liver can be damaged if taken a month or more. I am generally referring to extremely high doses, which I have done myself briefly to detox or to repair the brain. Not everyday doses. If only protocol could be more individual specific. That's the direction that is best, I am thinking.
