I have been using the US FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) for over two decades.
Due to 9/11 there has been an undoing or withholding information which was previously in the public domain, even biographies of individuals from the USAF Public Affairs Office, even if this information is currently and easily available from other sources.
NORAD detects tracks and is now responsible for the internal defense of the North American continent since 9/11 attacks. Anything that remains unknown is classified SECRET. There are documents from the Alaska Air Command, and the FAA which were previously available to the public concerning such matters including records from NORAD itself, now these documents have been reclassified and considered tactical and a national security matter.
Unknown tracks could also consider to be UFOs hence what Captain Edward J Ruppelt stated in his well known book Report on UFOs stated anything unidentified is classified so it is an on going affair.
I have recently obtained a document from PACAF via the US Historical Research Agency, the Unknown Track summary has been censored under national security, including as mentioned above public affairs documents under the privacy exemption of the US FOIA, the procedures are ridiculously since other sources can provide some of the information they are withholding.
Nothing to the UFO NORAD responses say different.
